just btw. can you go to that tower in the right upper corner of the screen? or is it part of the background (-image)?

Alderaan is quite nice. Nar Shaddaa is my fav so far though. Reminds me of blade runner.

I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.

Any higher terrain resolution? It looks kinda low quality.

It looks, feels, and plays great the way it is. I'd rather they start adding new planets than a day/night cycle.

    No thanks.

On the scale of things I give a damn about in-game it rates pretty low, and I definitely dont need it to make my level of immersion work. If that really makes or breaks a game for you, oh well....

Dont get me wrong, valid wish and I can respect it, but I'm definitely more concerned with gameplay. Give me a game that plays smooth, is enjoyable and has interesting content rather than a piece of junk that we can point to and say "Yeah, it may play horrible but it has a day/night cycle!"

For what purpose?  I'm all for day/night cycles, but having one in no way makes Alderaan look any better.  That's strictly an RP feature.  Looks like you are just using any little excuse to nag about this game.

LOL, they almost make it sound as if a day/night cycle was a bad thing.

    haha

I know. I am just shaking my head sadly at these responses you quoted.

I'd say more but I fear a ban. So let's leave it at how hopeless I feel reading these angry retorts.

    Good snapshot.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

Yeah, there is. My settings are actually pretty mediumish. Also I didn't force AA yet (was waiting for Bioware to add it) and I don't have bloom on either. Also don't forget its a photoshop compilation of 3 x 3 merged shots, cropped and "saved for the web" at only 50% quality to keep filesize down. The first link is quite a bit crisper as I didn't crop it.

Guy just said it would be cool to have night / day cycle, which is imho perfectly valid thing for an mmoRPG.

99% of the areas are inaccessable thats why this game is so fake.

that was going to be my question, it looks pretty but can you acutally explore that or is just a glorified backdrop?

That's simply a lie. Sure it has gorgeous painted on back-drops but most areas you can get to (even though you might get stuck a few times).

Only really annoying aspect in world design imo, is the close proximity of some of the exhaustion zones.

What was that? I can't understand you when you lie through your teeth like that...

Oh come on, that is not true at all.

It definitely isn't a complete open world, though.

If you've played other BW games like Dragon Age or ME - it's like that but with looser restrictions and more open areas.

THIS on the other hand might very well be true :3

  • if you do a little bit of exploring, and let your curisotiy get the better of you(espicially when you are datacron hunting), you can get to some interesting places

If you progress through it you eventually come across this old structure, a huge thing dominating the landscape.

Turns out you can get on top of it and there is a heroic quest for empire there. I made this merged composition in 4000 x 2000 from the top of it (heavily compressed though, because of image file constraints and some photoshop induced barrel distortion as well). Too bad I fell down to my death a bit later. V_V

I still need to get my pc to force some AA because the jaggies at the buildings stand out, sadly. But still ... really happy with Alderaan's look and feel, environment wise. Too bad of the posh royalty. I'd force choke them all if I could :))

Really curious about the planets I haven't seen yet.

Yes I also love how huge the planets areBUT there really should be alot more to do on the planets. But maybe they can add it later on.

You know what I would like to see ? a Pod racing Warzone vs. others :). Or a Pod racing tournament, on each planet one circuit ... these planets are so huge I think it would not be a problem to add at least one circuit to them ^^.

    One can dream .....

For those crying for some day/night cycles... in STAR WARS, ever considered that these planets might logically have different timed cycles? I mean, some might rotate faster than others relative to their stars, while others (twylekk home planet for example) don't rotate at all.

I know, I know, you are stuck in your single planet of elves and orcs, where cycles are needed. Now you are planet hopping ACROSS THE GALAXY! Think outside the box people!

    -----------------------
Tried- L2, Ryzom, WAR, DDO, PWI, Tab Rasa, Requiem, Champs, AA, JD, PWI, SUN, Dawntide

Played- SWG (pre-cu), AoC, VG, WoW, LoTRO,CoX, EQ2, DAOC, GW, PotBS, Aion, MO,APB, NASA, Fallen Earth, DCUO, Rift

    Playing- EVE, Black Prophecy, TOR

Waiting for- Tera, Jumpgate Evo, WH40K, WWE, WOD, TSW

Yeah I think this is why it wasnt included. Also with some planets like Tatooine having multiple suns, it gets a bit complicated.

Yes for those who want to see it with unbiased eyes.

How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?

ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6.
US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian.
Subs will be so low there is no need for more
    Snoocky-How many servers?
The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...

Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.

I dunno...  The whole time I was on Alderaan, I just kept thinking...  "What the hell does any of this matter, when they're just going to blow this place up anyway..?"

    Loved the planet tho...  =P

Cool! Looking forward to Vossssss :)

Honored that you use it as a back ground. It is kinda fun and not hard to make them. I'll do more compi's and fix my anti-alliassing soon.
