LFG tool in WoW got you into dungeons within 5 mins, having to LFG over general (no group chat) just spams general and takes about half an hour to find a group for what you want to do, sometimes even more. Instead, general/trade was just packed with raid spam, achievement run spam, and "selling tank for heroic farming" spam.
In other words, dungeon queues changed absolutely nothing beyond allowing the raid accumulation of heroic badges - an analogue for which this game yet lacks.

Not according to Bioware. They've already said that a LFD tool is NOT a priority for them.

All the people complaining it isn't there and asking for it on the forums will change their mind. They also said they wouldn't make loads of servers that become dead so people quit the game because they have no one to play with. Well they've made hundreds of servers that are going to be dead like every other MMO and oh look cross realm LFG tool fixes that!

I don't see how it does and if there are so many people out there that hate it then just continue to use the chat channel looking for a group. Yes where several groups come together to defeat the ultimate game content.... you know content that you cannot PUG!
LFG is a great tool for finding groups to do normal dungeons or grouped quests, it isn't a good Raid finder tool.
If you want to find a quick group to do world based group quests or to do 4 man dungeons then use the LFG tool.
If you want to keep spamming chat searching for hours for people to do some content because you can only search on your server and it happens to be quite dead, then carry on doing that.
Kudos, to the op and I totally agree. As to the loot, on the serious side, I really havent cared about it. I roll greed or pass and if I get the loot once in a while, it's cool, if not,doesnt matter. I too am not sure that allowing our companions in was a good design idea or not but time will tell.
100% agree with OP. The funny thing about LFD tool is before it was around it would take me about 5-10 minutes to put a group together. With LFD i had to queue for 45 minutes!! How is this better I will never understand.
6. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think Trade chat is global. :-) It's not as if it's being used for trade, so take a tip from WOW and use it :P

I love how so many people argue taking out dungeon finder destroys the community and makes the game less social when the only difference I have found is its now harder to find a group and 60%+ of general chat is LFG spam's. God forbid people would actually get to use general chat for asking questions about the game and talking to people about quest, crew skills, game mechanics.. nope we get LFG Hammer Station! LF1 MORE, LF TANK, LF HEALER... yea much more social interactiion there good job!
This guy has this golden rant about other games and how they waited. At this point I would get a forum ban from SWTOR because he uses Rift as a example. They put theirs in 3 months after launch, but apparently that was not fast enough for guys like this.

The OP of this thread makes a grand point that is lost on people...LFM tank/dps/healer [insert dungeon] is apprently too hard for people to figure out. When people say Blizzard or x-server LFG killed community this is what they mean. PEOPLE JUST STOPPED TALKING all together o even bothering to try.

This was similar to how "WoW" was back in 2005 when the LFG channel was global. I personally like seeing someone /1 LFG "blah" when I'm in another zone and can join up. And being able to check who's flagged LFG via /who does help, once you've narrowed the results down to levels close to ourselves.

If you want to raid then join a guild.

The game has been developed as a themepark not a sandbox so players are expecting fast food spoon fed MMO content.
They have an ad for a senior social system designer position we'll see how it ends. (BTW for BioWare social designer == data crunching expert)
I just want to say its funny how people spend hours trying to form a group then run the instance as fast as they can then repeat the whole process.
