Skipping all the posts and just answering to OP's question:
I would. The best damn mmorpg in a long time. So glad I went and got it. But hey, don't feel bad if people dare to play and like a game you obviously hate.
Thend on't? It's that simple. I don't recall anyone forcing anyone with agun to play it ifYou don't like it.
And really, complaining about 15$ subscription happens with every single MMO that comes out. Maybe it's time You grow up and get ajob, because 15$ / month is nothing when it comes to entertainment costs. In times when crappy games cost 50-60$ a pop and last barely 6-10 hours of playtime, those 15$ / month for 30 days of gameplay are a bargain.
And do You think that customer service, servers upkeep, content developement, bug fixing developement, etc come free as a charity gift from companies? Do You think gaming was invented just to please You? It's a business. It's there to make money. If You can't afford it find a cheaper hobby or stick to F2P games. No one will shed a tear.
The game is decent as a free to play type game. But it is not an mmo its more of a single player RPG with some chat thrown in. Who is actually willing (Be honest) to pay $15 dollars a month for a game not worth one penny???
I will be subbing.Maybe pick up a paper route after school if your not able to.
I like how those who have no idea of how server and bandwidth operation for something like an MMO works, thinks monthly fees aren't justified.
So how do games without monthly fees manage ?
The F2P ones have comparable income from cash shops that sell all stuff that You usually get in game in subscription MMOs, They have much slower developement of new content/bug fixes, and generallyat some point force You to either spend money or be stuck in progression.
As far as example of GW goes, we still don't know how exactly GW2 will turn out. GW was heavily instanced and that lwoered the upkeep costs a lot. The ammount of expansions and addons alsoc ontributed to the income. They also sold vanity stuff, character slots and such stuff
Is that what you're looking for in this thread? Not sure why you would make it. Although I'm convinced that Blizzard, in it's billions of dollars, is not above trying to come to forums like these, and hire people to just trash it's competition.
Blizzard has nothing worry about when it comes to this game.If Bioware can get the players to pay for this game then good luck to them. The people who do pay deserved to be ripped off, just goes to show how gulible some people are.
Or perhaps it proves how silly you are to think the million+ people loving the game are gullible. There's so much to do in this game - just how are people being ripped off...because it's not F2p? I wonder how many of you would subscribe to mmorpg.com if they charged to use these forums? lol - I thought so.
Hence why the official forums are more useful. At least there I know that the people who are posting are doing so from actual experience. Not like this site, where so many have been caught posting lies as fact.

Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.

By selling expansions, cash shop / item shop, small content packages etc?
so it's obviously not that costly to maintain a server, do some research before making yourself look stupid.
I am stupid because i answered a simple question? i am talking about F2P / B2P games and how they generate revenue independent of my point of view on sub based MMOS. What ever is stuck up your a** pull it out now bud!

Every mmo sells vanity stuff even the ones that have a subscription and some p2p mmo sell content patches also. wow sells more vanity items than alot of f2p mmo's.

What? next time if you want to call me stupid make sure you first read properly. I never said anything about server maintenance of sub absed MMOS i was only talking about F2P and B2P model and how these games generate revenue.

I really think most of the people who do not like this game and praying for it's failure do not like it for a few simple reasons. They want to LIVE in a mmog not play one. They are looking for something to spend 12 hours a day to live and stay in compared to playing a game for a few hours and getting back to there real life.Instead they want a game that takes them out of real life more than what any current next gen mmog can offer them they long for the days of old Eq1 where they would have to live in it to advance.

its a good job i wasn't talking to you then wasn't it.
I will gladly pay 15euros or whatever the sub is for this game, but i tell u know, i wont be playing GW2 if it being free. But i can give you a hint, dont play the game if you dont like it, because a free game will have no updated content or any decent content, yes even gw just wait and see, i pay for SWTOR because i expect BW to go thru with their part or the agreement, wich is Content update with regularity.
To answer OP: I will be playing TOR.
And as for this poster, I think he should try to find more information.

not looking to live in an mmo for 12 hours just looking for one that has more options. some people live in swtor for 12 hours a day so your point is moot.
you remember what WoW was it's first two years without "appearance" slots and expensive mounts and 60% mount at 40? it was sht like everyone posting on TOR.
However, this game has a big finacial backing and a very successful IP, so they just won't go out without a big fight.

hhah! C'mon. I am a huge fan of all puzzle adventures(hence my "site" name), my favorites are those by Sierra(Space quest isn't lucas! v_v).
but i saw no adventure elements during beta. It's entirely hand-holden questing, very typical gameplay, no puzzles whatever. It's all very very very much like WoW in everything. Please tell me WHERE exactly this game is different, beside crafting which i have no idea how it works and it's a secondary element anyway.
I don't get it about the future marketing consequences. If this game, being 95% like WoW, is a success, there will be sandbox games? How is that? That sounds illogical. If TOR fails big time, THEN we will see innovation, because they will finally realize that plagiarism doesn't pay.
Seeing you love sierra era games I have to comment on this. It is almost impossible for players nowaday to actually want to play that type of games.
I love those point-and-click game and I still play them as other studios release them. I still remember the 256 color Kings Quest V ( I still love the graphic of that game ). Although I can also tell you, most of my other gaming friends find those game BORING. They often ask, so you just click around and listen to stories ? They do not get the fun of creative using an item to solve puzzles. Also, in our era, internet wasn't like this. People actually try to solve puzzles. Now Google takes the lead on that. One man solves it and people just read it and follow the solution.
As for puzzles in SWTOR:
In one of the later zone, there is indeed a "lights out" puzzle for player to solve. ( it is optional ). So far, people spam chat and ask HOW to solve the game. There aren't many puzzle solvers in current generation of games for a reason. People tend to want actions not using brain powers.
Would I want more of those elements in MMOs ? I sure would. The problem is, it is not a good use of developer's time when people do not appreciate them. I would bet 85%+ people would just ask/google the answer and get on with their other adventures.
Ah! i entirely know what you come from, i share your thoughts, also on the preference and affection for the 256 VGA games(my favorite is Longbow, i met Cristy Marx herself!!!): it's terrible to see how players act in front of a challenge, how they're repulsed at the very thought of a problem which solution is not downright obvious to get.
I remember reading beloved Mrs. Roberta Williams' bitter reflections on the different type of gaming populace, one that's entirely different from the early 90's one. The new gamers invaded our old homes.
What else, uuuh, i think we old timers should stick together, we're scattered and in despair like an ancient weird race of bird-like people ready for exodus... in a bad sci-fi flick plot
I didn't know of this optional puzzle, ofc. I didn't see any during the 1st 10 levels. I dare say there's not enuff of them. I think The Secret World will feature tons of puzzles and investigation. I'm not even sure TOR SHOULD have more of those, but even though people cry for the solution, maybe they can appreciate puzzles.

To me this game is better than any other theme park style game. So I'll pay.

I hear farmville is going FTP.......Knock yourself out

At cost of players convinience. On exmaple of SWTOR a F2P version would be:
- no inventory upgrade for ingame money.
- no bank upgrade for ingame money
- maximum of 1 companion sent on crew skill mission
- speeders limited to first tier.
- modable items sold only in cash shop.
- paying for access to end planets, like Illum.
- 1 space mission quest / week, unless You buy a voucher.
Doesn't sound all that fun, but sure will pay for the upkeep costs.

I knew i`ll pay for this game since i was invited for the beta weekends. It`s polished, it`s fun and there is a lot of content...
Sure it has some things i do not like but then again i will grow old and die untill they make that PERFECT game we are all waiting for....
