Mass effect similarities

Hello all, so far playing this game I've noticed many similarities to Mass Effect, I know Bioware game as well.
At times I feel like many aspects of the game are borrowed heavily from Mass effect, i.e the choices that lead light/dark (paragon/rebel), bionic powers (the force) and some of the landscapes as well.
*THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT* I really enjoy Mass Effect and now SWTOR. This is simply to ask if anyone else feels the same way? I always thought ME would make a great MMORPG but since this is out I doubt that will see the light of day, on the other hand I am looking forward to ME3 coming out.
So thoughts, are they similar to you guys?
PS - Similar does not mean the same, I realize the games are very different, but there are certain big similarities that I've noticed. Again in my view these are good things, not bad so deep breath, with the hate/love the game things.

Yeah but Mass Effect took that style of gameplay from Kotor which came out a good while before ME.
Its not simulair to ME/DA its Simulair to Kotor who did it first
but sure..its a bioware game, ofc there be simulair things, hell go make a female trooper and you can twist youre mind easy that you are playing ME :P , same voice,same style.
To me this game is like if Mass Effect, Starwars, and World of Warcraft had a love child. As I do/did enjoy all of them it seems like a perfect fit.

KOTOR1 is the Grandpappy of Dragon Age and Mass Effect series and SWTOR is based on KOTOR.
Oh, I've never played Kotor, so didn't know one way or another how it effected other games. I've actually started with ME 2 only a couple of months back than went back got 1. You guys just gave me another old game to pick up for the xbox 360 thanks.
The great thing about getting console so late (years after everyone) is that every old game is new to me
that means a "new game" is 15-20 tops.
Also I'm on break from work and its maint. I need things to play. hehe Plus work makes me travel I realized I can pack a console and one controller for when I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere. Packing my gaming PC...not so much.
