They have a lot to learn about doing maintenance and patches, which is a shame really given how many of them come other MMOs.
There are people working on SWTOR with experience from a huge range of companies and MMOs, yet they are still making newbie mistakes with their first patch.

This, I mean really people maintenance happens, crap that makes it screw up happens too.
If you think this is bad? I remember when 3.0 hit WoW, guess what? Extended down time repeatedly. This is pretty much an industry standard.
This makes me wonder if something has gone wrong.
Fixed for sanity, they will fix it when they fix it, they cant just turn it on if it isnt working.
They said they would update their progress at 12:00 noon CST on facebook or twitter or some such thing. Go check. Trouble is, they will update their progress and then all rush out the door for a 2 hour lunch break.

Except the servers were estimated to be down like what, 8 hours? Should they have said 24?
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
This is new and exciting. No one has ever seen anything like this before.

The best thing is: they are preventing people from posting on the Forum. I just tried and I'm blocked out saying I don't have the right privileges etc. (which I do). Just so people can't vent their rage and spam the Forum. Probably because they can't use the stress on the server.

Complain a lot? At least they took the time to tell you hey an hour ago i said i would tell you what's up..it's an hour later and i need another hour to tell you what's up. Blizzard on the other hand would just say, wait they wouldnt say anything they would just keep you guessing. I guess some people are never satisfied.
I remember those days 5 years or so ago... Its just like WoW, or EQ, or... Yep brings back memories. Maint. Day was the day you did a total cleaning of the house, maybe dusted your rig, sorted clothes for good will, learned to play the piano, painted the living room....
The thing is. They could atleast update us on what's going on. Instead they give us the same update, they did an hour ago... I don't mind it's down for a long time, cous mistkes happens. But i would like to know what's going on. Sitting here clueless
Yeah its like they cant use ppl raging and flaming on the forums to fix the server quicker! Ohh wait they cant.

This is where it really affects Europe. Ok, the patch has hit some trouble - these things happen. It's bad enough having the downtime mid-day in a prime holiday period, but the overrun now moves this into the most popular timeband for EU.
Separate patch times are needed for the US and EU. Any overrun is unwanted, but at least it wouldn't impact the evening gameplaye period - as this one is doing now for the EU.
Verdict - lessons to be learnt EA / Bioware
And what should they learn? Every MMO out there still does the same thing. Blizzard, Trion, Turbine, SOE, etc. It doesn't change. People aren't perfect, stop acting like they have to be just because you threw some money at them. This goes for anyone griping about downtimes and extended maintenance.
And you don't need to guess here?. It's the same update they did an hour ago... copy paste. Ok the time is different...
Get a damn job, and you wouldn't have to worry about servers being down at 1pm on a tuesday.
Plus all the hot babes...

And they took the time to copy and paste it over, much more than Blizzard ever did at the beginning. But hey you keep crying about it it's you're perogative.
