Elnator, if you love this game so much, how come you spend all your time hanging around this forum? When do you actually play this game? Anyway I am thinking about going back to the game and was looking at the posts on this forum to see what the game has become since I quit ( 2 months ago ). can someone EXCEPT ELNATOR tell me how SWG and Chimaera really is doing nowdays...

Answer to both .. fine .. rejuvenated .. lots of new blood .. combat needs getting used to

judging by the newest TC patch notes the devs finally have time for some serious bug fixing again.

About Elnator ... as I have been accused of the same (only posting, no real playing) ... he for sure plays as much as he likes. But while you are at work you cannot play, but often do have access to the forums. So while others take their smoke'n'coffee breaks, people like him and me check and post on forums.

    Have fun

    Could play in windowed?

He might actually have a life and not have time to play the game all day?

He likes to help out newcomers to the game?

    Helped me out abit too

Have they fixed the space mining? Being a Master Shipwright the main reason why I quit the game was that the space mining was a joke. The Y-8 mining vessel couldn't mine even though I had a crew ( which was really hard to get ) . And even if you managed to actually get lots of spcaeminerals you could only use them to build new space-mining equip or a few pod weapons... Is there anything in the game that you need spaceminerals for to craft or is the spaceming still useless?!
  • ErillionErillion Member EpicPosts: 10,329

I am a master shipwright too. The Y8 is NOT the best mining ship .. it only has a large cargo hold. There is a rare bug that after an asteroid pirate attack sometimes an asteroid is bugged and you cannot mine, but everyone knows it by now and you just move to another asteroid and continue to mine there. I usually craft the heavy ship chassis with asteroid ore (low level  pilots prefer to have double the mass to play with :-) , but also the texture kits and some high end multiplayer-ship-only components. And yes, new space mining equipment of course. But I NEVER have enough asteroid ore because I ASAP craft it into some of the new stuff .. and it sells the same day I craft it.

So as you SHOULD know being a master SW there is PLENTY in the game to craft besides other space mining equipment. If you need a memory aid go here

yeah but can u use space-minerals for something else than "spce-objects" like som rare gun or something cool like that...

Anyway.. on monday I will open up Cal-Tech again... :-)  for at least 30 days

I am so honored you took the time to come here and personally flame me! WOOHOOOO

Short answer: Because I have kids and don't play when they're awake. I can post a message in under 2 minutes. It's called knowing how to type 90 words per minute. And, while at work, much of my day is spent sitting on conference calls that last for HOURS in which I have maybe 15 minutes of actual interest, the rest is stuff I listen to peripherally and take notes on. I can't get involved in something really important because I may become distracted and miss something important so I post and answer email while on con calls.

Keeps me from missing anything important, allows me to respond quickly and passes the day quickly.

The bugs are still there and theres more since each patch the devolpers still are focuing on bh and jedi and other professions are feeling some what left out smuglers. rangers. commandos squad leaders, crafters etc

    battle fatigue is now gone

Theres an experaince nerf on test center now that folks are none to happy about (patch 21)

but there are positive things coming as well lighting improvements esepcaily in dark areas thats a big deal to me as a player, more choices in veterns rewards too

most servers have medium and heavy and about 4 or 5 have extremely heavy

folks are grouping are grinding and low ends are finding new homes and being welcomed into pa's

as far as picking on one person, i have had conflicts as well with a few folks here but generaly they understand we get frustrated sometimes as well, sometimes it passes sometimes it doesn't

i do not play every moment of every day either ( i have a life) . I will admit the past few patches have been a blow and my playing time is  limited now.

i am still ever hopeful that instead of new content a few patches will be devoted to bug fixing, i would be stunned if 2 patches came out with not a singal thing for jedi on it  ..........

Heh, flames don't bother me. When someone takes the time to personally insult or call you out you already know they have lost the arguement. Because they have stopped arguing against your points and have instead decided to try to discredit you personally (Sorta like what the morons were doing on the AC Graphics update thread when they were trying to re-define what the heck a Beta is).

On a side note it's gonna be a heavy posting day again today.... 8 hours of con calls... WHEE

Speaking of Con calls.... Can someone fax me a gun? I wanna shoot myself (Have I mentioned that I hate con calls? Especially ones that are management oriented rather than technical.... blech... I'm tempted to ask for a demotion so I can go back to just fixing, designing, and implementing instead of all this management crap.)

I know what you mean on the Con calls. I have 2 today that are going to be 2 hours each. Kinda pointless if you ask me, basically I get asked how my equipment is doing and what steps am I taking to ensure stability and performance. I'm a Telco Systems Engineer managing 20 ISDN PRI's, 2 data T1's, 4 voice T1 Tie Lines, 2 Local T's, 10 servers, 175 workstations, and a partridge and a pear tree in my call center. I've done every kind of maintenance I can do unless there just isn't crap else I can do anymore. Some project managers just don't understand this. LOL.

Anyway I've been reading alot of ranting and raving on the SOE forums between BH's and Jedi. Ugh it's getting annoying fast all the whiners on BOTH sides. I'm happy that I'm just playing and having fun in the game. Someone mentioned that once I'm ready to go Novice BH and start doing BH missions that I won't be able to do them solo, and will always need a group. Is this true? I thought I could just start grinding out BH missions and do it solo.

LOL who told you that? That's never been necessary as long as you do the weapon lines first. And from what I understand patch 20 supposedly fixed that as well but I would still recommend doing the weapon lines of BH first. Heck I'd even recommend picking up your weapon specialization (Carbineer/Pistoleer/Rifleman) before doing your investigation missions just because then you can devote your entire time to the BH missions. Personally I really enjoyed the BH missions and still do them even though I'm Master BH. I only do Jedi missions now and then and only when I have a lot of time on my hands.

    Nice.

Just letting you know, I've toyed with Rilfes, Carbines, and Pistols and went up the skill trees in all 3 just to see what I liked and I can honestly say Carbines are my favorite. Pistols are fast but don't do as much dmg, and rifles are slow slow slow. I like the carbine. You said yourself go with what I thought was the most fun for me and thats carbine.

Also I hit CM 1000 so far and I love the healing it gives me. So my ultimate template will be:

    MBH, MCarb, CM 4000

Question for you since you also use the carbine:

When you are hunting jedi, you send out your seeker to get the jedi's name and you begin your attack. What is your usual attack/special combination? Meaning what attacks do you START your fight with, and what specials afterwards do you use?

    For instance:

You close in on the jedi mark. You start off with KD? Then go leg shot, then go something else, then something else. I know every situation calls for something different, but just using a basic guideline what attacks/specials do you start with and use throughout your fight (in order of use)

    Thanks El.

    Err

I could write a book about that.... it all depends on the situation I'm in and the Jedi is in when I find them. It really varies entirely too much to say I use any one standard attack. If they're distracted or whatever I'll usually lead off with a bomb droid to be honest ;) (Hey, I never said I fought FAIR) and if they survive that then they eat a KD instantly and then a critshot or two. If that doesn't finish them off it at least gets them into the 'endless heal' cycle or I'm burning into their force power from them using avoid incap.

Other than that? It varies entirely too much to really say. But I will say that my first shot is typically a KD so that my next shot (crit) is max effectiveness and does as much damage as it possibly can. I also try to land a Bleed early on as well so that they're taking continual damage even when I'm not actively hitting them either due to a miss (rare) or a saber-block. But fighting a Jedi your bread and butter are KD, Snare (Cripple) and Advanced Critshot. Other than that if you're in a knock-down-drag-out fight with a jedi use your CM heals to keep you in the fight till he runs out of force then he's yours.

It's all about wearing out their force because if you can't get a quick kill right off it's going to be a long fight.

Heck, if I find em in a starport I've even been known to goad them into dueling another jedi and letting them do most of my work for me :) If I find them fighting in a group hunting pickets or whatever I use the surprise type tactic that someone else mentioned by just trying to incap them without them noticing me.

It really completely depends on the situation. Back before they added 3 day decay there were some times I'd stalk a jedi for days before actually going for the kill. Let them see me several times so they wouldn't be jumpy when I was around then lower the boom when they least expected it.

Sounds like a plan. I can't wait to get to MBH. I am eventually going to buy the best Proton Carbine I can get with a good min/max damage and low SAC, but I'm puzzled on what armor I should get that would give me the best protection/resists. Any armor suggestions? Is it true that because I'm using a Carbine that I can't use Recon armor? (which i heard was the best energy resistant armor for hunting jedi) What armor should I use if not recon?

Oh and also since I'm going to be a CM 4000 do I still need to get Healing Efficiency clothing? Or should I get clothing that gives me something else?

    Please advise and thanks again.

As CM/MBH/MC you'll be able to use either Assault or Combat armor. They're pretty much equal in quality. I've not run into any problems against jedi using either.

Since you'll be using *armor* there aren't many clothing items you can get that will enhance abilities. Try to get ak'uan clothing that gives bonuses and you can find bandoliers to wear that give bonuses as well. As a CM you could go with either a + Healing Efficiencey or + accuracy or +defense gear. Just depends on your style. As CM 4000 your healing should be sufficient without any bonus items but play it by ear, if you find you need more healing try to track down a +18 healing bandoleer then use tapes to make it better in other areas as well. My +18 healing efficiency one gives me some other bonuses that I got from throwing clothing attachments I found useful on it.

The items you can get BE clothing for if you're wearing full armor are:
    Bandoleer / Backpack slot
    Shirt
and I think you can get belts that are BE'd, if not try to get a loot belt that gives bonuses. I haven't found a good one so I just use my Clone Armor belt that gives standard armor stats.

I saw in your sig that you are carbineer/combat medic, I was thinking of doing something like that myself, what do you use your remaining skill points for so I can see someone elses ideas.

I also post alot during work cause lets face it work isn't the greatest thing ever.  It does help the day go by faster.

Same reason I am here, I am at work and bored. Have fun in SWG, I might come back soon too. My only reason not to play is I have so much on my plate as it is. I love everything about SWG, especially that so many bedwetters ran for the hills with the CU.image
