WWII ONLINE BLOWS

That is to say, games developers have taken it in a new direction, backwards to 1.15 or the initial release seems, that CRS (Corner Rat Software) forgot how to reinvest on thier product.  The latency in this game is terrible, the graphics are dated, the user interface is difficult and bulky, the low ranking player in this game is just cannon fodder and the learning curve makes it difficult for a new player to "rank up" in a realistic manner, (although you can spawn in certain pieces of equipment and sit 10 minutes to gain a percentage to a certain rank, hope you have several hours to spare).

If you like to fly fighter aircraft try Fighter Aces, WWII online isnt the game to do it, imagine your tailing an JU87, sure you FPS start to stutter, no problem,  100 yards to go before you shoot, next thing you know your FPS drops to zero and you ram your opponent.  Or your dive bombing a tank and just lag right into the ground.

I wouldnt be surprized if right after this release if this game goes up for sell by CRS, a little Steve Miller Action you know the one...go on take the money and run

    Cerpes,

we heard Your message, You repeat Yourself several times over and over again...

I'm sorry to hear the game doesn't run the way it is expected on Your computer! In the official forums there are a lot of tips and hints how to clean and tune Your computer and how to use the settings to get the most out of it! If You played the game for so long You'll know that CRS always needs some time after a big patch with fondamental changes to sort out the last remaining bugs and increase performance. There already have been 2 pacthes after the 1.19 release with the sole intend to improve performance...last one came last friday!

All I can say is the game runs ok for me on my old Athlon 1800, Geforce 4 Ti 4200, 1gig Ram. With this old system I can't get the uber FPS but its playable ok in all parts with fps from 10-50 depending on city size and number of people around me.

I like the new UI and Brigade Spawning, its a change...but imho for the better! Easier to find other players to play with, the new zoomable+scrollable ingame map is great and the Allies are organized in a better and easier way now. Chat channels are expanded from 4 to 6 now and are easier to use and get into now.

New textures, sounds, water and 3D-Buildings enhanced the immersion factor and give the game a better look as before.

Yeah, its got its problems. Not as many as you suggest but they are there.

Id also like to point out that NO other game can compare in its scale, scope or complexity.

Your right, it has the potential to be a great FPS game, atm its not, as it is still hampered with many bugs, and I cannot see why anyone would promote a product for sell that isnt finished...

I didnt suggest all that I could but please if you can disbute/refute these problems:

Latency - terrible to die to someone who is dead in front of you.....Problem

FPS:  Hard to play a game that turns into a slide show.......Problem

Dated Graphics:  Take a look at BF2, smooth........Issue

Thats enough...didnt go into memory leaks, bugged equipment, bugged towns, or other issues that exisit  in depth because the 2 listed above are enough to make the game unplayable.

  • MuhlerMuhler Member Posts: 59

I havent had much of an issue with latency or FPS. I only get poor FPS when flying and the game has to model more stuff, and Im on a crap machine. I might not have a latency issue because Im a pretty bad shot and miss anyway. :)

And yes, the graphics are dated, no dispute there. But you must counter that with the scope. Most games are the size of part of one of WWIIOLs cities and they are linear. Ive delt with bugged equptment, though that generally gets fixed fast, but what do you mean by bugged towns?

If anything, Id take issue with the way some of the equptment is modeled.

Sure, you can say it is an dated graphic. Considering that is it still quite modern compare to most games, like BF2 for instance. If you can answer yes on the questions below am I willing to say that BF2 has a better graphics then WWII Online. Otherwise is it BF2 that only delievers eyecandy without anything under the surface.

Does BF2 delivers a visual range of 4000 meter, and 8000 meter 1500 meter above the ground?
    Can you see +100 players?
Can you hear other infantrys footsteps up to 50 meter away?
Can you hear riflefire from 400 meter away.
Can you hear heavy gunfire from several kilometers distance?

All these things has to be taken into consideration for how the graphics looks. I don't think BF2 has any of these features. Now ask yourself why.

And tell us, who many players can join the same server again. 64? Don't you think 64 players on the same server is an extremly low number of players for the modern online gam? Such a game is only good for small private LAN partys, nothing else.

Sure, WWIIOL comes with some issues. But most of the issues you meantions originates from that low end computers has trouble to cope with such a demanding game as WWII Online. But nonetheless, I can assure you that CRS is working hard for removing these issues on the lower end desktops.

Sparre the ground visual range is now 6km. I was 4km away from a forward base in a particularily quiet town and heard the forward base being destroyed.

BGE will always get compared to BF2 for the simple reason that you have a gun. They are 2 entirely different games, aimed at entirely different markets.

Thanks Sres. Now when you said it do I remember it was meantioned in a Production Note.

WWIIOL is the best game ever made in the history of online games.

    Period

To debate its flaws is like saying Jennifer Love Hewitt is not hot because she's to short - its just insane.

Interesting that it has barely managed to survive these past years then, isn't it? Let me guess, "The average internet game player is too stupid to realise how good a game it is".

How wonderfully insightful you are :)

Listen here herpes, people that play WWII online are too smart to be fooled by idiotic rants. Don't you think people in the WWII online section know how WWII online is? Trolling sucks, don't you have anything better to do with your time? Go and volunteer for the United Way and make a difference in your community and leave the trolling to professional fishermen.

Not only has it survived, but it has grown substantially in the past 3 years. While other mmo numbers tend to decrease as the years go by, WWIIO's numbers grow and the dev support remains some of the best in the business. Instead of look at the glass as half empty, look at it as half full. While the game has its faults, none can disagree that it is a great game.

Are you saying that $$ made=superior game? Therefore, by that logic, Lineage 1 is the best online game ever made. Also by that logic, Hitler was a better world leader than Ghandi and Britney Spears is a better musician than Dave Matthews. I could go on and on but I bet you get my point. image

As far as i know CRS doesn't reveal how many subscribers they have. They only in general say that thousands of players are online. That was true 2 years ago but now there are far less players. Even now when players forced to spawn to sertan towns the numbers aren't very impressive.

WWIIOL was a great game, with that i agree!
