Today we got this surprise from Trion. This is not ZOMGWTFWELFARE gear, but combined with marked from Master Mode Darkening Deeps, Rise of the Phoenix, + this it will help gear the community atleast up to tier 2 gear without being forced to do 20man raiding.
This confirms the next 20man raid is eith tier 2.5 or tier 3 and hopefully sometime in January with patch 1.7 or maybe a world event leading up to it?
GENERAL
* PvP Achievements: Behind Enemy Lines can now be completed by closing any rift in Silverwood / Gloamwood for Defiants, and Freemarch / Stonefield for Guardians.
* While on the quest ‘Unworking the Ritual’ any air rift that grants experience should drop air sourcestone when closed
* Instant Adventure Daily quests should now be listed under “Meridian” or “Sanctum” in your quest log
* Level 50 players completing Instant Adventure Daily quests will now get more XP
* Recipes that are loot drops from monsters, dungeons, or rifts should no longer be BoP
ZONES
* Hammerknell: The general population of Hammerknell will drop items more frequently.
* Hammerknell: Darktide Mists should no longer reset aggro while engaged in combat
DUNGEONS
* Players completing Expert 1 Dungeon Dailies now have a choice of reward, either 6 Plaques of Achievement or 2 Marks of Ascension
* Players completing Expert 2 Dungeon Dailies now have a choice of reward, either 6 Plaques of Achievement, 2 Marks of Ascension, or 1 Greater Mark of Ascension

I don't think 1.7 will be out until Feb 20 at the earliest.
Being able to get raid gear without ever stepping foot in a raid zone is absolutely, 100% ZOMGWTFWELFARE gear.
If it's good or bad for the game is a different matter.
Well this is basically what they did when they released Hammerknell the tier 2 raid. Up to that point to get tier 1 raid gear you had to do the 10 or 20man content. To catch everyone else up they did the same thing. Random hotfix and now you get marks from a tier 2.
This move seems interesting because they are missing in the tier 1 instances. Fresh 50's will probably love this because you will have so geared mofo's plowing through a tier 1 lol
Not shure if in a time i which people barely want to raid anymore (and SWTOR is released) a new 20 man will hit the mark.
Guess 1.7 won't stop the population from dwindling further.
Trion should have known better than this.
