They are just so poorly done. It's a shame that the current forms of Instanced PvP isn't even as epic as old AV, a battleground from vanilla WoW! That's a shame. It pisses me off, to see what Blizzard's PvP developers have done. They mess up the idea of PvP zones, while at the same time they mess up the PvP gear balance, and the battlegrounds themselves are the most dull they have every been in the history of this game. Why,,,why Blizzard? What is going on in Blizzard's offices? Something has to be going wrong in there. It seems like a different Blizzard is running things now. I hate the direction that the game has taken. I feel like I wasted so much time and memorable moments to a game which the developers want to kill. Is it a conspiracy or something, that Blizzard wants to kill WoW on purpose or something? Illuminati at work here or something? What's going on (/sadfsce)

It's an old pet peeve of mine but I will share it anyway.
In Isle of conquest the BG is supposed to be faction neutral, the objectives are the same travel time from each of the holds, etc.
The main objective is to break down a gate in the other factions hold and kill the boss there.
Yet, there is a major difference in the defenses at the holds, there are turret guns to aid the defenders in protecting the gates. The horde guns that are used to defend the side gates are projecting out from the plane of the gate and set on an angle so all three guns on each side can see the outside of the side gates.
The alliance keep side guns are in a straight line, and do not project out, nor are they set at an angle. The result is that the side gates of the alliance keep are practically indefensible using the turrets, the turrets can not see the outside of the gate because they do not project past the plane of the gate, and since they are set in a straight line, 2 of the three guns end up shooting another turret when pointing at the gate, the gun closest to the gate shoots the platform the gun is mounted on 75% of the time. Additionally the alliance side gate is recessed deeper into the frame, exposing the attackers less.
The differences are so extreme that I don't think a single alliance player can get out of line of sight of one horde side turret gun, however horde attackers in a siege engine are almost totally protected and can get out of line of sight of the alliance turrets.
So what's up with that? A BG where the whole thing is superfically a balanced design, then they rig it in favor of the horde at a key location.
check av used to be insanelly addictive fun the whole nine yard!player complained (the hacker, powerleveller, char seller ,gold seller)so wow made change so it could end quicker, now the av is boring !to death!
gameovr, wow was always like that ,alliance always drew the short end of the stick ,wow taught that by adding more power to human it would change it didnt lol!more horde then ever!
I know AV, I have a vanilla WoW Field Marshal, that did it mostly in AV. At the end, the last week, I was on vacation from work and in AV 18 hrs a day.
I remember when you would see games that could last a day, and ones where Ivus or Lok'holar would be spawned.
I remember before rock paper scissors class balance that came with BC and arena, when me playing a mage, could defend the DB gy flag and getting attacked by a rogue wasn't a insta gib 90% of the time.
Ah the good old days.
Yeah well the days of grinding 18h a day to get a massive gear advantage over everyone are thankfully long since gone and never coming back. Funny thing is you say you play a mage, which are one of the best classes in the game right now. I guess your just too over the hill or maybe you where just never any good to begin with.
LET'S PLAY HUTTBALL!!!!! actually lets not play it because it's terrible. [Mod Edit]
You must have just missed everyone saying how much fun it was.
And while I wont say that I enjoyed the ultra long games, I had an absolute blast in Vanilla doing the 1h and 2h AV games as a Warlock. BG's were so much more fun back then as compared to now.
The only time in vanilla a AV would end in 1h or 2h was:
40m premade
It was 7am EST on a Tuesday morning.
Terrible how? Frogdog Nation 4 life!

That's not even what I was talking about.
And I dunno what "vanilla" you played but AV basically never ended before they started nerfing it, it was more like a DoAC style battleground than what we know in WoW today. Not that it was a bad thing but I wouldn't want it in the random queue.
AV was imbalanced too Horde base was desgined by a three year old. You could run right through it without aggroing any guards, while Alliance base had the bridge which was a huge bottleneck. Only benefit horde got was that Drek was way more a PITA to kill then Vandarr.
These guys.

i have to say, AV is the ONLY thing i really miss since dropping wow.
i loved av with passion and am surprised at how many people groaned when they got av when doing random bgs. everyone seemed to want "quick" games, but i loved grinding on av. sure, the game went for longer, but if you got a good turtle happening, you could just churn up a nice bucket of hp that made it so worth it. and the fun!
as an ex 'lock, i loved also getting stuck defending poor drek from an army of ally scumbags. helping them wipe when they ran in never ceased to make my day more cheerful.
ah, av. it's a fine wine.
wsg, tho. god, i hated that. but i played too much quake tf and was just burned out on 2forts.
i secretly still enjoyed it when it never ended
