I might be picking this game up in a few days, just got some questions. Is there a class thats made for 100% tanking? I always loved tanking in mmo's. If there is a class ment for tanking, Hows the damage output.
Sorry if there is a post about this question, im just to lazy to look around lol. Thx guys

As far as the light side goes, the Trooper is the main tank. For the dark side, I believe it is the Bounty Hunter.
Come watch the forces of Light and Dark battle for control of the galaxy in, The Old Republic!
I would of thought it would of been pretty apparent that the "main" tanks would be Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior?
edit: tanking specs for them are Guardian and Juggernaut respectively

For Republic, the following classes have tank trees:
Jedi Knight (Guardian), Jedi Consular (Shadow), and Trooper (Vanguard)
The corresponding Empire classes that can tank are:
Sith Warrior (Juggernaut), Sith Inquisitor (Assassin), and Bounty Hunter (Powertech)
All three (six) classes are designed to be able to tank on par with eachother and are intended to be suitable operation / PvP / flashpoint tanks. Note that all of these classes can also spec into DPS, there are no classes that can only tank.
I personally am playing a Shadow tank and am loving it so far.
I have both a Vanguard and Guardian, both are very viable as tanks in all aspects of the game. But yes, this person above is correct - 6 possible advanced classes which can be tanks if you so chose to spec them that way.
Oh and just to say, I ran into someone on a team doing a Flahspoint the other day who had that old attitude on 'main' tank idea in his head. He was a lvl 26 Guardian, when I was a level 23 Vanguard. I asked if he wanted to MT or if I should. He quickly corrected me saying 'Vanguards aren't tanks, I'll do it'. So I let him, and on the last boss, after he failed miserably at least 6 times, he told me to try it. We finished on the first try.
Damage mitigation %, armor rating, and shield % activation and absortion levels do matter, and all 6 advanced classes can tweak into these things. Mine at lvl 23 was WAY higher than his was, so just because he was a guardian and the 'rightly so main tank' of the game, really didnt mean he was the better tank for the job. Thats why I said above 'if you chose to spec them that way'.
