Bioware - PvP Long/' Short term goals

ExpiryExpiry Member UncommonPosts: 76

What is BIOWARE doing about PvP!!!!!

So, What is the deal with the broken A$% PvP in this game. Warzones - seriously, I got top 3 almost every time - for what? I now run in the corner while watching netflix for a little less worth. - please fix....

Open world - seriously? 120 max people (double that for enemy - maybe) is that seriously a MMO? 120 people per planet instance is massive? wow - not in my world. Im lvl 45 - I have seen 6 people since pre lauch - well done.

The 'swifty' interview. Bioware senior Devs stating that PvP is not a priority!! hmmm

My issue is this - SWTOR is an extremely heavily instanced SINGLE PLAYER game with some heroic and flashpoint quest for the very loosly fitting MMO class. 120 man instances are not massive, they are a joke, pointelless warzone and non-existant open world pvp is unreal. We are on a PvP server - looking for PvP - it does not exist!!!!

Bioware has made yet another great single player game.. They have already stated in thier first official post that a new flashpoint is the focus - not guild options, or perhaps PvP that has a purpose... I would like to know what the near/long term PvP goals are from someone in the bioware community. Many of us are concerned that this is already destined to become a PVE centric game. I planned on playing this game for a decade, yet.... I dont think ill make it 2 months.

Bioware, PLEASE THROW YOUR PVP COMMUNITY A BONE!!!! I am sooo tired of AFK running into the wall during hutball - only because I have no other option!

Well, I will say that my guild and I had a similar discussuion. I am very dissapointed with the PvP side of things... That said, this launch is the best I have been a part of..

My primary issue is the already published intent to focus on single player PVE not PvP, PvP server is irrelevant. Many of us will be following the above poster in the near future. If they publicly state thier intent to develop solid PvP I will pay to support it - yet I dont believe that to be the case.

Bioware needs to publish an update that is not - WE ARE ADDING ANOTHER single player FLASHPOINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is the rage! Make your voice heard or this will become a single player PvE game that is marketed as a MMORPG. If enough post maybe the investors ande managers will realze that the PvP community should not be blown off.

Bioware only included some aspect of PVP so they could put it on the box.

This game has no real PVP and never will.  It's a co-op game.  Also, it's Bioware, so I thought that was pretty much understood?  Just play it like an RPG and cancel after the first month.  Win the game, like you win any other RPG and that's that.

    Easy.

I have to admit, I laughed at this post. Most people make their voice heard with their wallets... Know what I mean?

    I agree OP but............

After playing SWTOR,  did you expect an amazingly deep & balanced PvP?

    I didn´t.

It is Bioware´s first MMO... And You can tell.

Even TRION did A LOT better in their first try with RIFT.

    A shame.... :(

I found PVP in Rift to be pretty unbalanced and quite frankly - boring. I've had the most fun in PVP ever in SWTOR - and there's much room for additional PVP Warzones and content.

I know many of you think of PVP as a full corpse loot - noob gank fest but SWTOR's PVP is pretty balanced cpmpared to Rift's and especially Wow's - which is horrible atm.

Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.

Very well put. I have been waiting so long for this game, with all the 'pvp' servers and faction warfare, etc.. hoped for more.. oh well :(

I am also enjoying it a lot. I am not a hardcore PvP player... a lot more PvEr....

but swtor´s pvp setting atm is a joke compared to Rift´s....not just in balance.

As i said i am playing swtor atm  ..but still...

BW is a clueless developer and unfortunately, they have linked arms with Mythic whose catastrophic failure is the elephant in the MMORPG room.

I don't see them having a plan. To think of solutions, one must be aware of problems... given the flat-out idiotic decisions BW has made so far, I doubt they are even aware of a problem.

But by all means, I encourage them to do all their press releases, Times Square dance parties and stupidly, over-expensive, needlessly extravagent CEs. I'm sure things like those are great for the genre.

Sorry, I meant that. This is their first MMO after all, so I can cut them some slack.

But so much in the game was given extensive feedback over Beta and they did... nothing. Makes you wonder. image

    1.  What game out there now has PvP zones with 240 people in them?

    2.  When you level *much* faster than everyone else you have zero right to complain about not seeing other people

    3.  SWTOR has an entire planet dedicated to PvP, wait a month and see how it plays out as people start getting to 50.  I have fears that it will be too imbalanced population wise, but its too early to tell when 95% of the population isnt into their upper 40s yet.

Yes, I'd waited for years for this game, as well.  Every time I played a Bioware game during SWTOR's development, I hoped that the long string of hits would continue...

    ...but then DA2 came.

I realized that Bioware could actually make a mistake.  What's worse, they could (and would willingly) release crap.  DA2 was an unfinished mess, and I remember distinctly thinking that this might be a problem for SWTOR.  With Mythic's failure and then the awful DA2 release -- I started to second-guess Bioware.  My fears were finally confirmed with SWTOR, because I don't even know what it is.  I don't think they even know what it is.

I don't think there's any definitive, creative vision for this game.  And I don't know if that's a result to a particular branch of the company that's involved or what.  It's just all over the map, with unfinished portions of the game left in -- and obvious additions that should be included, which were left out.

    It's a strange, strange game.

Not sure if it was the Austin folks that made this?  Or the Canadian branch?  I don't really know.  But there was a disconnect somewhere in the company, I imagine.

    Dear Meatball:

    1. I am a level 40.... Listened to every main and side quest.. not that far ahead of everyone else. I have seen 5 people in open world since pre-launch. FIVE!!!!!!!!!! 120 per WOLRD -  MAX - maybe double that for Republic.. but, since empire outnumbers republic 4 to 1 on our server... figure it out. (Please look at the guild list before you rage reply)

    2. Im lvl 40 - crap load of 50s running around. Also, my 20 toon has the same issues with heavily instanced, no open world, joke of huttball issues. Carry on.

    3. Should we really have to wait till endgame for PvP - on a PvP server? Need I say more?  -- BAM!

not everyone will rush to level cap OP granted the game is a cake walk to level up in i've seen plenty of people making alts experimenting PvP is Meh i've never been a pvp junkie ever since EQ (team servers) and DAoC i've had no true interest in PvP in MMO's it was little or less a side feature.

Austin folks. Which is why I always snorted in annoyance when anyone cited Dragon Age/Mass Effect's brilliance when talking about SWTOR pre-release.

Off topic: I'm not sure who made DA2 but that was an appalling game in every sense possible.

Makes me wonder. Why those loud PvPers always go to every game that's not advertsied as PVP oriented, and then whine about lack of PvP?

Dd You not read anything about the game? Did You just bought the game because it had shiny box and/or lots of advertsiing?

It was clear from the start that TOR will be PvE, story-focused, phased game with PvP as an little bonus because that's the industry standard since WoW became popular. Go find yourself a PvP game and play it if that's all You care about, since TOR obviously wasn't made with You in mind.

As far as player limit per planet instnance goes, really except Fleet in peak hours im yet to see the counter to even go near 100 and that's because i kept pretty much ahead fo the levelling curve. Illum on my server has maybe 8-9 people Emprie side at peak hours. Not even close to cap. With 120 / instance zone it actually could inf uture fix the balancing issue since You won't have 500 imps vs 150 reps. You will have a chance for 120 vs 120 however. No the best course of action but not the worst either.

Sure it's hard to find other epople around while questing, but blame the players mentality for it. For years now everyone wants to solo the content, grouping outside of end-game is just not utilized. Everyone prefers to go at their own pace and less people "stealing" your quest objectives the better apparently. It's purely "what customers want" decission. Want to run in group - play with Your guildies.

Since there is nothing on that planet to fight for and killing people and taking objectives offer no rewards there will be no pvp, only point trading to finish the dailies and week quests.

op:this game is like coutless other game before it they force feed the term mmorpg, even tho they know full well it isnt a mmorpg

trhe massive part was never about how many were on a server ,it was meant to be how many player could be around you at any given time ,but corp not wanting to be branded morpg or corpg, stretched the truth to the limit and now mmorpg just mean massive amount of player on a server (wich ALL GAME DO ANYWAY ,AND ALWAYS HAVE)since there is no regulation covering this it isnt false advertising in there head even tho it is false advertising.

multiplayer was always for amount of number in the hundreds, massive was always for amount of player in the thousand!not many can brad about behing a mmo, eve, aika probably other i dont know!at some point wow was also a mmo but it converted to a morpg after vanilla!

You know I just love it when people slander warhammer online...Yeah it had alot of problems with its rvr content, but the worked it out eventually. The fact that they were having 500v 500 battles over keeps really beat the hell out of the servers...Not to mention lagged out so many players tha it was disgusting.

Mythic didnt fail, but they could have done better, Lack of support from ea and major content on regular release causes alot of issues. Pvp in war was fun. One of the only games where you could actually kill yourself casting spells, while meant to be a balance to range superiority found in most games it was nerfed.....Personally I hated this concept and I was range dps. The massive  battles you could get into at any given moment were well done and even the pvp battle matches you could que for were insanely fun...Yanking range dps into the middle of a bunch of melee dps, It was great...

The pve content had no illusions and was rather straight forward. I cant tell you how many times in other games I get in a group with under geared players and wasted a raid....There you had to have the gear in order to even tank or dps the enemy, with out warded gear you could not even scratch bosses..

The only major flaw to the game is they tried to make it a two faction game when in fact it should have been a 3 faction game with more races.....I so wanted my skaven assassins...
