Hey, I'm a Guild Wars player, and I know what you r sayin wen u cant see anybody unless yurr in a town. You cant see people playin outside of town but in some ways thats a good thing, think about it.
GW is the best MMORPG ever. Best graphics best gameplay best RP best PvP best community. U cant say that community is bad cos u havent played GW. I think WoW has the worst community - a lot of kids, teens and noobs.
Gw Its a game that many grow up ppl play, and have a good community, ppl are nice do lots of quests togheter, now in wow you can say the same half the population its noobs and little childs try to "play" or boring the other players
Perhaps it doesn't have the worst community, but the design and the community tools dont' foster a successful and thriving community - instead, they foster people soloing, and maybe going sometimes to play with a few friends. I really dislike the ultra-instanced approach, as well as having about 30 instances of every town. Makes it really hard to meet people, let alone find the people you know.
yeh the towns/outpost are friggen big and to many ppl dancing in underware
they should have it where if ppl are on ur friends list, u can just hit a button and invite them instead of walking in crowded town with retards everywhere. im not saying im against this, but yes it would be nice to find people easier.
it has the worst from all the games ive played. most of the people you encounter in the towns are completely imature. yes many will say that there are imature people in every game, and yes your right, but this game is 10 times worse if not more than any other game ive played.
I completely agree with the immaturity complaints in this thread. I have encountered many immature ppl like monks who decide they don't like someone and quit healing them. I am not bashing the entire community but there are some real assholes in the game.
Ever since I got into mmorpg's when UO first came out.... you get to deal with *gasp* other people! Young to old, immature to corn-cob-up-their-butts, "n00bi3s" to "13378015", casual to hardcore types, whiners to whiners who WHINE about whiners... list goes on and doesn't change... just the graphics of the game.
*shrugs* The chances of running into people you don't like are = or < than that of trying to be nice or friendly to somone at a public event in real life. Some don't mind being friendly, and some can't pass up the chance to be "cool" in front of their friends by being an ass to you. But anyways.... RL in my opinion has the worst community, because at least playing a game people have "similar goals" to work towards
If you can't deal with the fact you're going to deal with people... don't play the games. Realistically, it's not going to get better as MMORPG's become more "mainstream".
Also, as mmorpg's become more "casual" where you don't "need" friends or people to help you.... people are less likely to become involved with other people. "Back in the old days" of mmorpg's they took tactics, and massive teamwork to grind thru the levels... in that downtime between resting up for the next battle/quest.. whatever all you had to do was chat while waiting... so you got to know your crew more. Nowadays all you get are people who just have to spam thier abilities with little to no thought, and most are a dime-a-dozen people with half-assed names such as "Da Max Healz", "Don Keypunchir", or the many other "original" variations of names. As more games become easier... there's going to be less of a commitment in general to "community".
So again, if you can't deal with it, I suggest just not playing... or leaving your house because the people outside your house can be equally rude as well... lol.
"There is only one thing of which I am certain, and that's nothing is certain."
Well, This is something that no MMO game can prevent unless they try to screen what players they allow in the game and that they can't do. However for me that is not too much of a problem becuase for the meantime i have and going to continue to play this like a singal player RPG, since it is free to play after you buy. I am hopeing to find a good guild to join so i can after so some PvP.
...some off the people in certain towns tend be a bit much with racism and harassment - I still feel as though it is much better game play than most other rpg -considering there are no fees except for the box
ok i have to say that wat you say is true that ppl in GW is well are mean and gay but if you look if your nice to ppl tell be nicer to you most of ppl are jurks or/and raceists but just try it be nice to some one even if there mean to you be nice to them try it its alot better and funer
I don't think that your poll is going to be effective...you could just understand certain people -and become friendly with them...I must say that i am a very nice person on GW -I sell things cheap to people in the towns and on several an occasion when people are quests with me...I give them what they need to collectors...you can ascertain based on community interaction of how the begining of guild wars is
Just like in any MMORPG you have to look at the source. In any town in any MMO there will be idiots, spammers, dorks, children and haters. If you do not like GW because of what you see in large towns, then here is a tip. Go to another town, away from newbie and flurbville. Stay away from the starting towns and Lion's Arch, get into a guild and watch the guild chat. If you still see the bad community then maybe it is your choice of fellowship that you need to reevaluate.

If you can find an above average community in all MMO, then I'll be surprise. To me, no matter what MMO you play, there will always be idiots. If you say WoW, you need your brain check because from what I see, the numbers are idiots = to most MMO. (I said most because there are some that have a decend community. And yes, WoW is not one of them.)
