BW is a clueless developer and unfortunately, they have linked arms with Mythic whose catastrophic failure is the elephant in the MMORPG room.
I don't see them having a plan. To think of solutions, one must be aware of problems... given the flat-out idiotic decisions BW has made so far, I doubt they are even aware of a problem.
But by all means, I encourage them to do all their press releases, Times Square dance parties and stupidly, over-expensive, needlessly extravagent CEs. I'm sure things like those are great for the genre.
You know I just love it when people slander warhammer online...Yeah it had alot of problems with its rvr content, but the worked it out eventually. The fact that they were having 500v 500 battles over keeps really beat the hell out of the servers...Not to mention lagged out so many players tha it was disgusting.
Mythic didnt fail, but they could have done better, Lack of support from ea and major content on regular release causes alot of issues. Pvp in war was fun. One of the only games where you could actually kill yourself casting spells, while meant to be a balance to range superiority found in most games it was nerfed.....Personally I hated this concept and I was range dps. The massive battles you could get into at any given moment were well done and even the pvp battle matches you could que for were insanely fun...Yanking range dps into the middle of a bunch of melee dps, It was great...
The pve content had no illusions and was rather straight forward. I cant tell you how many times in other games I get in a group with under geared players and wasted a raid....There you had to have the gear in order to even tank or dps the enemy, with out warded gear you could not even scratch bosses..
The only major flaw to the game is they tried to make it a two faction game when in fact it should have been a 3 faction game with more races.....I so wanted my skaven assassins...
WAR was and is a complete and utter disaster. 3 things to keep in mind.
1. Almost all the servers merged into only a handful
2. it went F2P
3. and the vast majority of the people who do play only participate in the Tier 1 area and reroll because its the most balanced and fun. Mythic learned nothing from DAoC and class balance. lol@brightwizards and the PBAOE range pulling classes.

I have to admit, I laughed at this post. Most people make their voice heard with their wallets... Know what I mean?
Funny guy has a point.. I just cancelled my sub... hopefully one of many. If not, on the the next game!
I am on the fence of cancelling my sub as well. OP classes such as Sith Sorcerers BountyHunters and IA Snipers plus the plethora of 98364 yard knockbacks. Resolve not actually working. The character animation/delay issues (WAR all over again lol) plus Illum world PvP is a joke from what I hear.
The end is nigh for my character on hitting 50 (42 right now) and im liable to end up cancelling then and that is a shame because the journey and the story has been superb and would hate to lose any and all emotions I have tied to my characters story because some stupid thing called level cap/end game got in the way.

Open world - seriously? 120 max people (double that for enemy - maybe) is that seriously a MMO? 120 people per planet instance is massive? wow - not in my world. Im lvl 45 - I have seen 6 people since pre lauch - well done.
1. What game out there now has PvP zones with 240 people in them?
2. When you level *much* faster than everyone else you have zero right to complain about not seeing other people
3. SWTOR has an entire planet dedicated to PvP, wait a month and see how it plays out as people start getting to 50. I have fears that it will be too imbalanced population wise, but its too early to tell when 95% of the population isnt into their upper 40s yet.
1) WAR, Aion, Rift, WoW - in all these games i had some nice big fights in open world PvP with more than 240 players ...
2) im lvl 35 - i dont think thats fast leveling - and still i see only few ppl on my side (on heavy populated server) and only very rarely ppl from opposing faction
3) entire planet, riiiight - so far entire planet its like 1-2 zones in other games so whats so spectacular about it ? in other MMOs on PvP server it's common to meet opposing players and have figh everywhere in the world - not just in the end game zone.
I realy cant understand how this game could get mmo of the year awards. PvP so far is either nonexistent ( in open world )or atrocious ( in warzones where we are paired all together regardless of lvl and we cant choose what warzone to play).
i dont know what delay you talk about so far i am level 20 and i have yet to meet it !we had issue this week but it isnt related to the game it is because the fucking sun farted and affected everything!
The one beautiful thing about how they did TOR is there is tons of room for growth. Its very early yet and there is plenty of time for them to make changes and additions. I understand it costs money and takes time to do what everyone is asking for. The game has a very very solid foundation I am going to give them the time they need to build on it. I honestly believe they will come through this with flying colors. After playing SWTOR, did you expect an amazingly deep & balanced PvP?
I didn´t.
It is Bioware´s first MMO... And You can tell.
Even TRION did A LOT better in their first try with RIFT.
A shame....
I found PVP in Rift to be pretty unbalanced and quite frankly - boring. I've had the most fun in PVP ever in SWTOR - and there's much room for additional PVP Warzones and content.
I know many of you think of PVP as a full corpse loot - noob gank fest but SWTOR's PVP is pretty balanced cpmpared to Rift's and especially Wow's - which is horrible atm.
I respect & kudos your fun with the game!
I am also enjoying it a lot. I am not a hardcore PvP player... a lot more PvEr....
but swtor´s pvp setting atm is a joke compared to Rift´s....not just in balance.
As i said i am playing swtor atm ..but still...
Rifts pvp isn t better then any games pvp. It s terrible, unbalanced, and flat out annoying. To each their own, but Rifts pvp, really?

Dear Meatball:
1. I am a level 40.... Listened to every main and side quest.. not that far ahead of everyone else. I have seen 5 people in open world since pre-launch. FIVE!!!!!!!!!! 120 per WOLRD - MAX - maybe double that for Republic.. but, since empire outnumbers republic 4 to 1 on our server... figure it out. (Please look at the guild list before you rage reply)
2. Im lvl 40 - crap load of 50s running around. Also, my 20 toon has the same issues with heavily instanced, no open world, joke of huttball issues. Carry on.
3. Should we really have to wait till endgame for PvP - on a PvP server? Need I say more? -- BAM!
You sir are either a liar or really bad at math.
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.

Yes because your experince on one server should be similar for everyone else on rest of the 80+ servers right?
But here is a video of some of us having fun with open world pvp.
I've found the PvP well balanced and incredibly entertaining. Many of our guild members who have not been hard core PvPer's in the past are queing up for warzones like addicts and having a great itme. The rewards for participating are great and it's a viable leveling alternative to questing.
The open world PvP is heating up on my server as the balance of the community is reaching level 40 (which is when you receive your first quest to go to Outlaw's Den on Tatooine), and I expect open world areas will be packed as more people reach 50.
There are crowds of players on every planet and is nowhere close to a single player game. Bioware has also said there are new open world PvP lakes and Warzones in development.
OP, you sound like the vocal minority. Actually I personaly would characterize your post as the shouting idiot.
no offense, but you guys should have seen this coming years ago. they have implied (and even stated) that pvp will not be a priority. in other words, it was an afterthought. they have WAR devs working for them. i guess one disaster was not enough for these guys. classes, talents and skills are WoW-esque, which essentially means that it's impossible to balance in pvp, mostly due to too many skills on the action bar, and an overall lack of direction. this game will go downhill faster than Aion.

WoW had (Good PVP) at least open world PVP, during vanilla. The only thing SWTOR is competing against WoW with in terms of PVP is with the Warzones, which I am enjoying more than WoW's, due to the higher emphasis of objective points that requires more team coordination over superior gear.
Still, WZ is not complete PVP for me. The full package includes open world, which I've gotten to play around with a bit. While somewhat "rare" still, it can be a blast if you are in a PVP guild that loves brining backup in numbers.
The only reason for me staying after the free month is if they build on PvP. I see no other reason to sub after doing a couple of classes storylines to 50. PvE raiding etc is much better in WoW and even Rift so the only way for this game to stay up there as a top MMORPG is to make better PvP. If not people will go back to whatever MMORPG they came from.
Open world - seriously? 120 max people (double that for enemy - maybe) is that seriously a MMO? 120 people per planet instance is massive? wow - not in my world. Im lvl 45 - I have seen 6 people since pre lauch - well done.
With these nubmers its already more of an "MMO" than many other games, like AOC for example, which had zones limited to 98 players.
Add more players and you will have the forums full of "the game sucks because of the lag ... its poorly developped, etc..." and "the graphics suck .... yes they are low quality to accomodate the number of players on the screen but we don't care it sucks..."
Seriously for every complaint posted here there is another one complaining for the opposite.
You guys don't know what you want. Oh... perhaps there's a different game for the different kinds of players?
I know this post is about , PvP, but you claim that Bioware is adding another "single player flashpoint"
Oxymoron much? The flashpoints aren't single player.
Also, based on the title, I thought that I was going to read a well reasoned post about what Bioware needs to do to keep PvP alive. Instead I got an angry rant that didn't make a lot of sense.
1. Instancing should be slim to none ESPECIALLY on lvl 50 planets. How the hell do you think instancing on pvp server was remotely a good idea?
2. ZERO open world pvp rewards. Not even the basics like green gear, valor, commendation..anything
3. Same battleground over and over and over with zero choice to pick BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE THOUGHTN SINGLE SERVER WARFRONTS WERE A GOOD IDEA when it ha sbeen proven after YEARSSSSSSSSSSSSSS to work.
4. Ilum trading not being acknowledged or punished from what we can see? Bioware just needs to disable the quest. People are exploiting and not getting punished and it encourages more exploiters. You will end up banning half your population by the time you finally act.
5. Lvl 50's in pvp with lvl 10's. The idea makes sense as long as the game is not gear based. As soon as you introduce extra skills and expertise gear the idea falls completely flat.
6. The bags are complete and utter RNG. Basically Aion all over again when it came to getting gold medals from fort raids lol
There are some key issues right now. MMO pvp'rs are not known for being loyal to begin with and they are ALWAYS looking for a reason to leave. GOOD news outside of pvp the pve has not been commented on as being terribad except for the side quest being blehh or some bugs in raiding.

Flashpoint = PVE. Sure, its with 4 people against a computer opponent, lol.
Title = got you reading and posting, right. I know, clever advertising.

SWTOR has pretty poor PVP
but please for the love of god RIFT as a comparison??????
RIFT is THE worst PVP ever, its a huge pile of macros spamming donkey dung
also comparing to WOW like its great PVP or something also.... (on a par with SWTOR really)

its not F2p
poor PVE content and lack of support from EA killed it
bioware taking over and introducing wow style WTFPWNDIENOOB gear decapitated its zombie corpse
Makes me wonder. Why those loud PvPers always go to every game that's not advertsied as PVP oriented, and then whine about lack of PvP?
Dd You not read anything about the game? Did You just bought the game because it had shiny box and/or lots of advertsiing?
It was clear from the start that TOR will be PvE, story-focused, phased game with PvP as an little bonus because that's the industry standard since WoW became popular. Go find yourself a PvP game and play it if that's all You care about, since TOR obviously wasn't made with You in mind.
As far as player limit per planet instnance goes, really except Fleet in peak hours im yet to see the counter to even go near 100 and that's because i kept pretty much ahead fo the levelling curve. Illum on my server has maybe 8-9 people Emprie side at peak hours. Not even close to cap. With 120 / instance zone it actually could inf uture fix the balancing issue since You won't have 500 imps vs 150 reps. You will have a chance for 120 vs 120 however. No the best course of action but not the worst either.
Sure it's hard to find other epople around while questing, but blame the players mentality for it. For years now everyone wants to solo the content, grouping outside of end-game is just not utilized. Everyone prefers to go at their own pace and less people "stealing" your quest objectives the better apparently. It's purely "what customers want" decission. Want to run in group - play with Your guildies.
Wait what??Did u ever see any of their interviews talking and hyping about their pvp on ilum and about their best tallented team on the planet from daoc and mythic?Of course you didnt thats why u open threads with no sense at all.Accuse people if u have facts if u dont just read the threads and enjoy your cookies.
The people who were the brains behind DAOC work for bethseda... mostly
So, What is the deal with the broken A$% PvP in this game. Warzones - seriously, I got top 3 almost every time - for what? I now run in the corner while watching netflix for a little less worth. - please fix....
Open world - seriously? 120 max people (double that for enemy - maybe) is that seriously a MMO? 120 people per planet instance is massive? wow - not in my world. Im lvl 45 - I have seen 6 people since pre lauch - well done.
The 'swifty' interview. Bioware senior Devs stating that PvP is not a priority!! hmmm
My issue is this - SWTOR is an extremely heavily instanced SINGLE PLAYER game with some heroic and flashpoint quest for the very loosly fitting MMO class. 120 man instances are not massive, they are a joke, pointelless warzone and non-existant open world pvp is unreal. We are on a PvP server - looking for PvP - it does not exist!!!!
Bioware has made yet another great single player game.. They have already stated in thier first official post that a new flashpoint is the focus - not guild options, or perhaps PvP that has a purpose... I would like to know what the near/long term PvP goals are from someone in the bioware community. Many of us are concerned that this is already destined to become a PVE centric game. I planned on playing this game for a decade, yet.... I dont think ill make it 2 months.
Bioware, PLEASE THROW YOUR PVP COMMUNITY A BONE!!!! I am sooo tired of AFK running into the wall during hutball - only because I have no other option!
EDIT:---

Well, I will say that my guild and I had a similar discussuion. I am very dissapointed with the PvP side of things... That said, this launch is the best I have been a part of..
My primary issue is the already published intent to focus on single player PVE not PvP, PvP server is irrelevant. Many of us will be following the above poster in the near future. If they publicly state thier intent to develop solid PvP I will pay to support it - yet I dont believe that to be the case.
Bioware needs to publish an update that is not - WE ARE ADDING ANOTHER single player FLASHPOINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[mod edit] I constantly come across Empire players to kill while questing. It's almost rediculous. Often I have to stealth around and call in backup, cause there are just too many Empire players around (my server is very heavy on the Empire side).
Also, the whole 'shard' (instancing) of entire planets is being done away with soon by Bioware. Meaning each planet will have one instance for all players. They used shards to help with launch, and they did a fantastic job. There's a developer post or article somewhere on TOR's site about this.

no offense, but you guys should have seen this coming years ago. they have implied (and even stated) that pvp will not be a priority. in other words, it was an afterthought. they have WAR devs working for them. i guess one disaster was not enough for these guys. classes, talents and skills are WoW-esque, which essentially means that it's impossible to balance in pvp, mostly due to too many skills on the action bar, and an overall lack of direction. this game will go downhill faster than Aion.
i want what this guy is smoking.
My gaming blog
With these nubmers its already more of an "MMO" than many other games, like AOC for example, which had zones limited to 98 players.
Add more players and you will have the forums full of "the game sucks because of the lag ... its poorly developped, etc..." and "the graphics suck .... yes they are low quality to accomodate the number of players on the screen but we don't care it sucks..."
Seriously for every complaint posted here there is another one complaining for the opposite.
You guys don't know what you want. Oh... perhaps there's a different game for the different kinds of players?
@op

By this time honestly:
The people who were the brains behind DAOC work for bethseda... mostly
None of them work for bioware and / or EA
[mod edit] I constantly come across Empire players to kill while questing. It's almost rediculous. Often I have to stealth around and call in backup, cause there are just too many Empire players around (my server is very heavy on the Empire side).
Also, the whole 'shard' (instancing) of entire planets is being done away with soon by Bioware. Meaning each planet will have one instance for all players. They used shards to help with launch, and they did a fantastic job. There's a developer post or article somewhere on TOR's site about this.
