Hall of Monuments Guide to 30

AnanamooseAnanamoose Member Posts: 118

Hey bookahs!

I have noticed people asking more about the Hall of Monuments and looking for guides. There are alot of them out there for getting to 30 and to 50, but mine is to 30 since I have no interest in the titles, just the items.

I have also completed most of my HoM in a relatively short amount of time (I started playing the game July 29th 2011) and I already have 24/30 points. I need 3 more things to ifnish up and I should be done within the next couple of weeks.

I know a lot of people want to get their HoM done as soon as possible and I feel like I have found the path of least resistance.

Anyway, feedback is always welcome as this is my first guide. I didn't do everything in order of how I got it and I only have two sections done. I will have the rest of them within the next few days. I just didn't want it to get too wordy so I figured it would be better to split it up into different parts.

Part 2: http://moosefaces.blogspot.com/2012/01/hom-guide-to-30-part-2.html

Let me know what you think! :)

Edit: here's a feather farming guide as well! Enjoy! http://moosefaces.blogspot.com/2012/01/feathers-feathers-everywhere.html

so far so good, simple to do tasks with 'how to'.

i was a little cheezed off at the HoM for not giving credit on multiple accounts for incredibly prestige armor sets, like FoW, to which i've got 7 sets of it and major titles spread throughout my accounts, some repeats, some not but requiring 3/3 on one toon like vaquish to get the additional 'legendary' statue.  i know why it was done though so it's only a minor gripe.

gratz on getting to 30 btw.

Looks good, I'm looking forward to the rest.  I stopped at 9 because all I wanted was the Orange Tabby Cat (to go with my RL OTC).  I still play the game but just haven't put in the effort.  Maybe with a easy to understand guide like this I'll try to get a few more.

Thank you both for the feedback! It's much appreciated. Part 2 is now up. :)

The only criticism I have is would be your emphasis on having done it in a short amount of time, while receiving a crap ton of free stuff along the way.  It goes back to the 'some of the guides looking deceptively easier than it really is' thing I mentioned in another thread.

A new player looking to start their HoM journey is not going to always have the benefit of someone dropping 70k+ worth of rare materials (for one armor set) in their lap.  My wife would never reached 30 points in the time she did if I didn't funnel hundreds of plat in her direction.  She would still be sitting in the low-teens and bummed out at the amount of materials/plat farming she had to do.

I'm sitting at 21 points (only want 25 for the White Raven). I know what I need to get those points, but man it's quite a grind. Thinking I'll just settle with 21, a decent feat in itself in my opinion.

That's something I noticed as well from the guide, the reliance in winning and having things gifted.  This option isn't one that a new player will have available to them.

But there was one really important suggestion that was offered, which was to watch for the weekly bonuses and take advantage of them.  I completed the last half of Legendary Survivor in one weekend because I knew an XP bonus was coming and I prepped for it.  Those bonuses can make a world of difference.

I wouldn't say I recieved a "crap ton" of free stuff. The only major thing I recieved for free was the 75 amber chunks and that was because I participated in a secret santa event that was hosted by players. I had to bust my rump to get stuff for my person too, so it wasn't like I really got it for free.  Also, the rare mini was given to me as a gift by my guild. I did get a few non rare minis too, but I didn't ask for them, people just gave them to me because I had previously mentioned I needed some more minis. I don't ask for freebies, so I don't want people to get the impression that I'm sitting around begging for free stuff. I'll go in and clarify that a little bit in the guide.

The only other free stuff I've ever gotten were a few things of rare materials (Like bolts of silk or linen) from guildies. The rest, I worked for. I am farming stuff nearly every day. I am actually planning on writing up a feather farming guide with the build and equipment I use on my elementalist. That's my next guide I'm planning. I'm also willing to take anyone along and show them the route I take to farm feathers in game.

I appreciate the criticism. I will go back and clarify a few things :)

Do you mind letting me know what your in game name is so I can check your HoM and see if there's anything I can help you out with?

Yeah, I'll change that a little bit. I didn't mean to put that much of an emphasis on it. I just meant that more as an option to farming. I was trying to emphasize that people should get involved in the community because there are a lot of benefits to that. I didn't get this far completely solo. I got involved in the community, specifically the GWEN community. That's why I linked them to the GWEN site. If there's one thing I truely love about this game, it's the community. It's one of the better gaming communities out there, in my opinion. I had no idea about it until I heard of the Pink Day in LA event where they were raising money for breast cancer back in October. That's why I put the emphasis on getting involved in the community.

You make a good point, though and I will go through and revise it to make it look less like all you have to do is win free stuff. Thanks for the feedback :)

Quick note: I went back in and revised some stuff, made things a little more clear and edited out some things. Please let me know if you catch anything I might have missed or think it could use some more editing. Thanks! :)

Also, use the HoM calculater to check out wich other options are available, you may find some easy points within reach, like  get statues  completing campaigns and elite area's. Getting protector is usually not that far away when you have completed a campaign.

Excellent point. I'll make sure to mention something like that. :)

The shortest way is to use a decent guide and find some friends.  Even if you are all starting totally fresh, you can get each other the resources etc. needed much quicker by focusing on one person at a time and funneling them platt and resources.  Of course this is helpful as well for grouping and finishing up the campaigns.

Grinding the arrow mission for hearts of the north is a great way to get weapons for points and max out a faction for points.  You can grind this mission solo once every 6 minutes or so (depending on how good you get).  It rewards platt, faction and drops you can turn in for tokens for weapons.

So someone asked how to make money relatively quickly in Guild Wars 1 and I mentioned I would put together a feather farming guide. I meant to do this sooner but got sick. I have now completed it! here you go: http://moosefaces.blogspot.com/2012/01/feathers-feathers-everywhere.html  Enjoy! and let me know what you think! :) I will also put this in the first post as well.
