Why are YOU playing your current MMO?

schrollbachschrollbach Member UncommonPosts: 72

What's the reason you keep playing the MMO that you like, and what is the MMO?

I've just been curious as to what reasons others have to play. I myself always liked grouping up with others and trying challenging objetives. SWTOR is my current MMO, but probaby not for long. I liked it when I saw a random messege in general chat that said they were getting a group together to kill a world boss.

I was surprised how little people actually wanted to kill the world boss and that is when I wondered why all those other people were playing (prompting m to create this thread).

Currently rotating casually between three F2P games (DCUO, LoTRO, and Forsaken World) because I refuse to pay for MMOs that are just more of the same.

I'm not, I've given up on everything that has existed up until now. Every hour I'm playing a game is an hour I could be doing something more productive with my life, so it better be a damn good game if I'm going to sacrifice time to play it. At the moment, not a thing exists that is of that calibur. Whatever spare time I have to play a game these days goes to my PS3 until the MMOs of 2012 start arriving.

League Of Legends - Fair PVP, Competitive PVP, Structured PVP, Balanced PVP

However you wanna describe it. I know alot of people consider it a MOBA not a MMOBA, but to each his own!

Waiting on GW2 for the same reasons!

    DCUO - Super Hero/VIllain Junkie.

I like to watch all the great super hero movies while I play it, and I could watch the intro to the game over and over and over and over... well, you get the point.

Pretty much in the same boat. Playing BF3 and Skyrim when I wanna play something and some EVE now and then.

I am playing Guild Wars 1 currently, waiting on GW2. I am trying to fill out my Hall of Monuments (Just to 30) and help out my boyfriend with his.

I also really like Guild Wars. To me, it feel different than most MMO's I've played. It's more linear, but it's also more challenging since you only have 8 skills and there are so many to choose from. It's refreshing playing it since I came from another game where I had 12 hotbars all filled with skills. It gives me more focus as well. I am really enjoying myself and plan on playing even beyond when I get my 30 points. :)

Came to the same conclusion, nothing at all that exists in the genre interests me. Begining to wonder why I even come to these forums anymore but hey I believe this next crop of games even though might not turn out to be as revolutionary as we want them to will atleast change the recipe enough to breath some life into the genre.

And yes, I too am having a blast playing my PS3 and other single player games on my PC.

Playing TOR as a SP game, and will do so until I am burnt out on it(Will at least run all classes thru their story lines).

After 5 yrs of EQ, I was done with MMOs in 06. Without the SW/BW connection, I probably would of stayed gone from them. Five years gave me enough time though for the MMO world to seem fresh again.

Enjoying TOR very much.  If BW manages to kick out new content reguarly, I will keep a sub, even if I am taking breaks for games like Mass Effect 3 and Kingdoms of Amalur.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

Playing SWTOR, WOW, LOTRO and GSiv.  I play them simply because I enjoy them.  Why else would I play them?

Atlantica Online, it might be asian and grindy with an item mall, but it's different. I love the turn-based combat and the crafting. Havn't found another game with as good combat as I have in AO. The graphics could do with an overhaul though.

After a year+ of playing swtor, I am actually burned out on any games.  Currently using my game time to workout and do some socializing.

Tonight, when I was out I talked to a Bond Girl.

Im not playing the normal MMO right now--coz I'm playing Hellgate and LoL. Hellgate is for the excitement of building a character, while LoL is for the fun of a MOBA game. On the other hand, when I want to explore or immerse myself in a gameworld, I play Skyrim.

I've given up on MMOs altogether. I will not pay a sub for a game. Never again. I am playing Shogun 2, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Mortal Kombat 9 at the moment depending on my mood :)

I've given up on MMOs with the exception of WoW, which I play for a few hours a week and then only because I have so many RL friends and family members that still play. The time I used to waste on MMOs I now spend with my growing family, and on home improvement projects and other things around the house and yard. I honestly don't miss it.

Currently the main 3 games I'm playing are SD Gundam Online, APB, and Rusty Hearts. I'm playing Gundam since I've been a Gundam fan since the 90s, love everything about it and basically grew up with Gundam. Plus I waited 4 years for this game to release.

APB is like GTA to me. I enjoy the ability to run around with friends and basically cause havoc on a town.

I enjoy Rusty Hearts because it reminds me of old school hack n slash plus a whole lot more. The graphics are great and the moves. Overall a fun game.

There are a whole lot of other games I play too, those are just the main ones.

Given up on existing mmorpg's. Why?  All of them are either:

    - LFG queuing auto-teleporting instance gear grinders (WoW, Rift, etc  I believe Swtor will adopt those things as well)

    - really old and very far from their original core concepts (UO, EQ1, etc)

    - very specific games good-but-not-fitting-my-cravings.  I just don't like for not playing as humanoid / real flesh being (EvE Online with gameplay composed of playing starship basically, yeah I know I am pilot and there is some station walking but 'meh')

    - F2P or Freemium or other greedy (upcoming double dipper TSW..) business model crapsters

    -------------------------------------------

Waiting for GW2 and ArchaAge (really hope some decent company will pick it up for EU or and NA).

    ---------------------

Just plaing single player games in meantime and doing non-compuiter stuff

*In my best Brain voice*      Same reason we play any game, Pinky. Because it's fun.

I play TOR because it's fun.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

Ryzom since 2004, because it's my home.

Lotro occasionally since release, because it's Tolkien environment.

Most of the rest played or trialed and stopped.
