yes having healers is almost needed. but me, as mostly ranger, was able to keep myself healed. little stance dancing with some heals, add the dots and i kept myself goin. yes healers are awesome. but, any class can keep themself alive and still do dmg.

back in the day before the dervs came out. rangers doin drok runs? of course with a build for it, but they can keep themself alive. dervs came out. dervs doin drok runs.

in a gvg, of course you need a healer. what im trying to say, is its not like other mmo's. if you rly wanted to, you could do almost anything without the Tree. groups could do anything without a monk if they wanted. when it came to anything for me, i try to keep myself alive as much as possible, give the healers a better chance to keep others goin too.

what about the 55 necro for farming? not as good as the 55 monk, but still able to keep himself goin and kill everything. of course it only works for farming mobs you can use the build with. but still, theres tons of stuff like this in the game and everyone could do everything. o ya, rit builds too. been a few years for me so not sure what the cool new farming builds are now. but the point is, GW is not like other mmo's. and the tank/heals/dps is not in the game, it isnt because theres an option.

Fellblade for my warrior and if I would roll a Ranger, I would have a Black Widow Spider as pet :)

so dont be surprised that you'll find items/armor ingame that will be much better looking than the HoM rewards.  some new GW1 players, who just started grinding for HoM points, may become disappointed and QQ at ANET for wasting all thier time for these shinies, when the new items are shinier.

for long time GW1 players, these items represent great memories of the original game: when the fellblade was at one time the most expensive sword, when we wanted so bad to snatch that fiery dragon sword from Rurik the 1st time we saw it in presearing, the fun involved in hunting down the black moa, the rare chimeric prism that was only available in preorder, the warhorn that looks like the Stormcaller... you get my meaning

i'm just afraid that some new players may not "get it " even thought they got it

i was just lookin at my old black moa a few hours ago. haha. remembered traveling everywhere to get what i needed. i miss GW :(

"Guild Wars 2’s Hall of Monuments should be a very integral part of the game for all players, new or old"

    How's that?

Dragon Season presents you one of the easiest ways to reach the first 30 points of Hall of Monuments. Read this and you will gather them in no time.

The guide is also written in Greek.

Lol I love how the Collumnist is trying to make the HoM something other than "Hey loyal GW fans, keep playing that game and we'll give you shinies." Not that I think its a bad thing. Haha to think its some lore-factor for your GW characters' posterity is funny. Just saying the "Bridge" between GW and GW2 is EOTN and Beyond.

As for the difficulty, nothing is difficult in GW save for a few zones, especially when the game has SOOOOO many vets with 50/50 that are plenty willing to just give crapp to newer players or run with them because they enjoy GW that much, which makes the HoM easier. What the HoM is  drudge work. I have 9 points, I didn't particularly like or dislike the game, I liked the system, not so much the storytelling, but that is niether here nor there.

The game is a gold grind. The easiest way to get to it is in that first comment from TubeElephant, a personal friend of mine. Doing the easiest thing is beating all three games, then grinding the crapp out of higher level Hard Mode content for gold untill you can get hero armor for EVERY hero and you can get a few cheapest elite armors, plus weapons. Its really not that bad, unless you don't care about having real fun (subjective) playing the game rather than grinding in a game that we shouldn't have grinds in and normally doesn't. But if you like the shinies its not difficult and the grind can be easily overlooked because GW is built so well and you are on a mission. Good luck all of you that try it.

Not at all. Its not too hard to get a decent chunk of points, and again you only really need 30 (technically 27) to get all the "shinies". There's always some player-ran event taking place, or being planned, so checking the Guru site and its event board is bound to lead you to a couple. The player events are one of GW's strong points, and also a good chance to nab a thing or two. The past few I've attended have been giving out large amounts of things for contests or even trivia (like 200 keys for the PvP 3-point title).

Some people just like to make it look like its so bloody difficult. As someone whose against grinding completely I've yet to

    1) Grind Vanquishes

    2) Grind books

    and/or

    3) Grind anything.

And yet I'm at 28/50 right now. Was some of it luck? In a way yea, I've nabbed a few free unded mini-pets here or there from people who didn't need them, but that was it. The most I ever grinded was during the New Years festival, and all that really amounted to was doing the new years quest chain on two characters.

My understanding is, if the accounts are linked, those named are reserved. Mind you, with the ability to have spaces in your name it's difficult to have the name you like stolen (unless you chose something silly and obvious), so it's probably not something you need to worry about anyway. Thought that counts, though.
