Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
I would give it a try, but community feedback plus site review shows alot of negative feedback.
Ill wait for the launch of new content and a re-review from you guys.
They are only 3 developers. There's only so much 3 people can do.
Its really nice to see this still going.
I've been playing Xsyon for over a year now. And all I can say is the developers are still optimistic and have carried comunicating with the players about almost every step of teh development.
It might of been a slow start for Xsyon, but Im still playing and enjoying the crafting PvE side to it all.
As Aramanu2 stated, only 3 developers working on it. I think its good going.
That would be a valid excuse if they weren't asking to be paid the same as what AAA quality MMOs cost.
Therein lies the problem. The already tiny population of players got a massive hit once they fixed the account system. Can you guys believe tons and tons of players weren't being charge, but some were? And they took months to sort the issue out? What a fucking joke.
juste simply love this phrase !!!
I dont play at the moment but they have probally put 10 times more work into this than your average AAA MMO..
So many people hate on this game. You have to think a indie company made this game and is still trying to make it a sucess.

Problem is the game doesn't have a direction. Kudos for the indie devs trying buuuut...
Catering to wolves and not a broader audience in the beginning miffed it up pretty good.
When I logged in around the "launch" I was actually very excited. I was dumped off on the shore of the enormous lake, and I feared for my life. I had to run for miles to get to the clan I joined, and I encountered all kinds of interesting people along the way.
When my clan started building our camp, the power of the sandbox game came back to me like a flood. It wasn't about questing, it was about the people. I loved it.
Unfortunately, with the bugs, and the lack of meaningful goals, it quickly turned into a crafting/building game with little else to offer. There was no game in that game. The other problem was that the development speed due to this more or less being a one-man-show, is brutally slow. Those features above are very likely to take the entire year of 2012 to put in the game.
I'll keep an eye on it, and if it starts to shape up, I would be willing to give it another try.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
I had a very similar good early experience with the game and similar issues later, mostly the development pace and a few annoyances with some of the more aggressive clear cutters in my area. But I'm happy it's still going and now I'm thinking about coming back to play.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

The few months I played this game in beta and shortly after the final release were great. But like it's been said, just too few people working on the game. Development is too slow for a modern MMO. There were so many problems at release, they spent so much time fixing them, the game just never recovered. There were features that were said to pretty much ready and were planned to be going in shortly after releas, and almost a year later they aren't in. Has the combat system finally been fixed/updated?
I logged in maybe five months ago freely, still wasn't being charged even though I cancelled my sub. I don't think I ever paid monthly for the game. Wonder if I can still log in....I am pretty sure no one in my clan/guild still plays
Alright folks, heres All that Xsyon has gotten in the year.
-Combat revision ( soon to get balanced, unknown when)
-Tree plating
-Items give weapons/armor bonus's that effect stats and skills
-tribal buffs that effects stats
-over 150 new arch schemes and growing

-Animals got revised and can turn mutant which can make them 1.5x-3x stronger
-lots n lots of bug fixs and optimizations
-Account system is almost redone, billing is now enabled
-Their is a scheme cap on trade skills, the higher the lvl the more schemes you can learn
-Tools-Armor-Weapon Decay is in and working fine
-atm are totems are candycanes with presents around them (looks nice)
-Being starved and thirstay now effects actions, IE, it the bar is empty u wont find much, crafting will fail more and energy takes alot longer to regen.
-Their is ALOT of ingame events now, guides have been very busy with this
-Their is water barrels for storing water, this is a woodcraft skill and can be grinded out
-waterskins are in, this is a toolcraft skill and can be grinded of scavenged, u can fill the waterskin at a barrel or river or lake and drink it on the go.
-their is quality on items now, the higher the quality the better the item is on durability, damages
-ToolCraft has master and artisan recipes now, can be grinded out or scavenged and isnt a easy task to make.
In short, this is alot added to the game over the months and specially for a dev team of 3. They have busted their asses to get this game in proper shape. Now here is wat is currently being worked on.
--Skill tracking system is ingame and skill decay is almost complete
-Carts are almost complete, can travel over river-hills-etc, I have personally tested these, they can carry about 10 long logs and are very nice.
-Totem decay is on his list todo next after the above 2 are done.
-Account system will be completed before all of these is finished and freetime will be given
Once all above is done, the new lands will open up. This is wats currently being worked on and i know will be done soon. Can't tell ya more about the skill decay system, as we havent been given much info on how itll work. But hope this helps those of ya out their. Btw archs items are ramps-roofs-floors-walls-gates--platforms and porchs and bridges are almost complete ( theirs alot more then wat i listed but gives ya a general idea, it is a ton of adds).
Also, if ya return to xsyon or just bought the game, you can choose to spawn at my city, The Preatorian Guards its /w fatboy ingame. Welcome any new folks the come this way :-) Also, a side note, griefing has basically ended and clear cuting is no longer an issue, Takes full 30 days for a tree to mature :-)

lolx i laugh when indies dont use major mmog solutions for their games. Half of what they should have had before the bad reputation was already pre-done in Big World Tech and Hero Engine (both of which i have a developer seat on). I can only tell in all honesty that once you get bad reputation, then there is a slim chance to regain your playerbase. With 3 people, you can manage quite well with a mmog solution, and sorry to see that these 3 developers did not make the correct choices.
I struggle not with life, money, emotions, and world, but against old mindsets and selves to be proven obsolete in a age and time of rapid changes. Go create fun, so you can have fun.
Sad to say but I agree with many here. The game lack direction, the dev team doesn't seem to know what they want from the game and the population is a joke. Most of what has been announced for 2012 is features they promised would be on release or "shortly" there after. I pre-ordered, played for a few months after release and got so bored with the game I couldn't even bring myself to log in. So good luck Xsyon and keep the $. I have a feeling you'll need it...
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
Funny how people bash this game, but then they do even the AAA's as well, so people will never be happy if its a 200 man team or a 3 man, team, but atleast this team of DEvs keep you informed they never lie or ignore you.
Jordie the main DEV even took the time to call people at times as well, how many devs do this....NONE............
OK then. They want all of us that paid to buy a half finished game to return and subscribe without PROOF of advancement????
Give us a 30 DAY free time for all that bought the game and we'll be the judge of it. It would also benefit the community to get some people runnign around that desolate world.
Give me free time back and i will certainly try it again! Be certain that i(the customer) will judge the game once more...
Everyone will get freetime soonish*. When totem decay is turned on emails will be sent out, along with free time given out and the new lands will open up. The devs have already said this.
Well most people will never know how "good" (or not) the game is because they don't want to sink $50 on an indie game that has a cloud of criticism floating over it.
I'll be honest, the game sounds interesting to me, as I like sandbox games. But I've been burned before, and I can't justify spending $50 just to see if the game is worthwhile or not. If there were a free trial I'd try the game. Hell if there were a $5 limited trial I might actually try that as well... but $50 is too much to risk on an indie title.
you might wanna check that, game does NOT cost 50 bucks..lol
This is a game for people with imagination actually. If you have a project in your mind you can do it
I find a lot of reward acomplishing projects,do you think people would have asked to Miguel Angel..Ok you've finished painting the Mona lisa..and now what. LOL
This game can only be better and better with the incoming additions.
See you all ingame!
well, i dont know many details about those engines, but maybe they are not quite suited for what devs had in mind?
already the terraforming part of the game is something most of the engines are not cappable of.
