I would play WoW if....

If i could get back the days of lvl 60 cap, mc raids, onyxia raids. If they would only open up a server with the software they used for launch or near launch. I loved going into AV and seeing 40vs40, I really did.

Not looking for counterarguments its what I believe would have me play WoW again.

Me to, would love Vanilla WoW.

    - No free trial people, and definitely not up to level 20, thats just ridiculous.

    - No character transfers

    - No cinematic cut scenes

    - No Dungeon finder

    - No fast leveling

Now that I think about it, everything Blizzard did after Vanilla WoW sucked real bad. If I were to do it all over again I would saver each and every level, and make loads of friends.

    My guess :

Because of marketing of all expansions and Pandas coming soon Blizzard will not bring Vanilla WoW back until all possibilities are exausted....Were looking at several more years before we see Vanilla WoW....It's all about marketing !!

    Free leveling

That's about it.  I have no interest in the game anymore.  Even being able to level for free may not be enough after seeing how much more fun it can be in SWTOR.

I don't think there's any game that can get me to go back to endgame raids/pvp farming unless there are no lockouts and no need to schedule specific times to do them.

Quite a luddite attitude you got there.

They certainly made the game very easy, but I'm not sure they would have had the success they've had if they didn't constantly evolve.

Would you take it back with the patches 1.08 to 2.0 bugs intact?  Useless talent trees, dead specs, server instability, etc.  Vanishing boats and falling through the world?  Nonstop, never-ending gold spam?  Lagforge?

Appreciate the sentiment, games are always better in their first couple of years, it seems.  Selective memory plays a big part in that.

Once in a while you have to applaud the progresses though.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

On a side note. Game companies in general need to take a snapshot of their vanilla versions and release/offer subscriptions to their classic game aside from the live version. Im not talking about progression servers etc. Just classic servers.

If Sony would have done that from day 1 with EQ1 it would have been a good move.

The question for Blizzard would not be whether you or others would play a Vanilla server, it is how long would you play it for? Would you for example commit to a 12 month contract in order to play it or would it just be a nostalgic couple of months at best and then move on?

The point being why would they commit to supporting two different versions of their game if it made no financial sense to do so?

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

    I would

Also they are only paying for server space/latency. Everything else is in place.

doubt Blizzard would do such thing, they are not catering to the first generation of WoW players anymore

It is all about demand and supply. If there are enough players and Blizz see it is a profitable venture they would surely put up a  server for Vanilla WOW...but are there enough players to keep it going? no one knows.

ya, it all comes down to coin, however, I don't know why Blizzard haven't announced a new server, that is something many players have been asking for
