If i judge the many gameplay videos ive seen its typical KOREAN grinder that will not be succesfull in EU and US for its TYPICAL lineage 2 looks and asian anime thats just not popular over here.
So far i realy dont think it can deliver but future will tell if im correct or not?
I cant call ArcheAge a anime.. also i wouldn't mind a little bit grinding.. but hey.. it's MY opinion not declaring everyone is going to agree
It's in a nice medieval time, you wont see much of girls which huge boobs or either very big swords that human actually cant hold in their hands.. You should check out what real anime is
If they deliver as what they are showing us now and keep updating it, it will be the biggest MMO release of that year
Jake has got good idea's and far from what i can see, he know's what MMO should be.

How can you get grinding out of a video? Grinding is an aspect that can only be experienced in the game.
These are anime MMO'rpgs
1) Mapple story
2) Grand Fantasia
3) Fly For Fun (Flyff)
4) mabinogi
5) cloud 9
Archage isnt in that category Its more so in the AoC category. Its not cartoony and its not anime.
Anything thats not an oversimplified themepark wont be a big game in the western market. As for wheather if the can deliver as advertised on what they promise, I dont know, I am not going to allow myself to go fanboy, But I am catiously optimistic, just because I so despritly want to play an MMO thats not a wow clone that crash and burns after 90 days.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore) Now Playing: N/A Worst MMO: FFXIV Favorite MMO: FFXI
Rofl I really don't see how this game looks anything like a "typical korean grinder"... I mean really. All the game videos you see, all the news you hear, all the features you know about...and that equals korean grinder? I haven't even seen a single video about grinding. I've seen videos about building houses, farming, building ships, having naval battles, controlling territory, flying gliders, sieging and conquering land, the weapons aren't big, the graphics aren't anime, the world textures are actually good quality ect. Guess those are just korean grinder features and I haven't played any other korean games long enough to ever see them.
being in Asian OBT and having english updates from the Dev side says they want our attention. That's the part I like about Asian development. If it's Asian only, it's never in English and often I am IP blocked. They don't pretend they care what i think to be polite.
It doesn't need to be so overly serious either. NO it doesn't need to be like a job. You shouldn't have to commit to a raid schedule and act like some GM's employee.......if you don't show up you're fired type BS. In the end its still a game and games are supposed to be fun. We play to enjoy and employ skill. NO ONE with a LIFE should be dedicating over 40+ hours a week for a game that THEY pay for. Its called moderation. The only people with that much free time are........kids.....people who work at some crumby job living in an apartment with like 4 other roomates and have no goals in life...or the dude that sits there in his mom's basement eating funion crumbs off of his belly. Not trying to insult anyone but I seriously get irritated when people treat games like real life.
...Then there is the sponsored people, who get paid to game / livestream, shoutcast, or are otherwise involved in the gaming industry.
And the ill, people who are unable to take on a job, either due to handicap, physical or mental diseases, that are a looking to kill some time of the day, to make their life a bit more enjoyable.
Either way, even if any of these people spend 40+ hours on a game a week, what's it to you, just carry on living your own life and try to stop pointing fingers like an ignorant jerk.

I don't think anyone is out to judge people who play games more than what is viewed as acceptable. unless said people are imposing themsleves on to others, expecting a casual gamer to come to them bended knee seeking permissions to access the game because they play 40+ hrs a week. Ignorant jerks are usually reactions to dictatorial assholes.
Last I heard this game runs on CryEngine 3. The number of MMO players in the West with rigs that can run this well AND are interested in playing it probably isn't very high.

you have to understand something. this game wont hit the US till the end of 2012 early 2013. so todays teck will be more afordable for those of us that dont have rigs atm that will push this game. to be honest, im kinda glad its working out that way. i dont have the cash to get the type of pc i want atm but this time next year i should have it.

If you are playing a recently released game then I'm positive this game will be able to run on the same rigs as well.

I could do a 2D "snake" game with cryengine 3 your gameboy could run. Engine=tools to build a game, and the OMG crysys graphics are just one of the tools that could be used, or could be ditched.

Aion also runs on CryEngine3 and its minimum requiriments is: Pentium 4 1GB RAM GeForce 6600, Radeon X1550.

CryEngine3 actually is much better optimzed engine than CryEngine2 and it also scales really good. Also there is still long way for AA to come to NA and / or EU so people PC's will be also much more powerful. Still even current mid-powerful PC could handle AA.

Isn't Aion running on heavy modified CryEngine1?
I heard some rumors Aion 2.0 running on (at least partially) CE3 ,but I never was interested enough to check it out.
ArcheAge WILL hit west market. Too much interest, too big title, XL Games interested in having it on western markets, etc
There are just few VERY important questions:
- who will release it? (please please QUALITY company)
- when?
- business model (no cash shop cr*p for this sandboxy title pls, sandobox don't mix good with game revolving around cash shop).
Who knows if korean release will be big success , maybe XL Games will decide to release it on NA / EU market(s) themself?
ArcheAge seems to be the only game so far that has combined the prominent features of Theme Park and Sandbox. It's great to actually look forward to some innovation or at the very least something different. The only problem is that this is an Asian game.
Did they ever officially say that they will release in NA / The West?
If you think thats a problem,, go play the easymode western games.
Like it or not Asian games do attract a lot of western gamers too, cause NA games especially MMORPGS aren't what they used to be. The game isn't even released in Asia for now so I doubt we'll see it until 2013.
That explains why an Asian MMO has been one of the top 3 selling and populated MMOs on the Western Market. Ohh wait no it isnt because every Asian MMO is trash and this game will be too, who ever is making this game should do itself a favor and not even attempt a Western translation because it will get lost on the core audience this side of the pacific and will fail regardless.
Playing: GW2 Waiting on: TESO Next Flop: Planetside 2 Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.

ROFL. looking at your quote under your avatar i can tell that you are delusional. for starters this game will do just fine. its goin to be a welcome change to the "standered" mmos that are being pumped out.
and just so were clear. WHEN this game hits state side. AA WILL get my sub and many other for that matter. infact i hope that this game provides just what it says its goin to. eather way, this type of game will keep people like you away from it and that in its self is worth the sub.
im getting tired of playing side by side with douches like you anyhow. i want to play with real MMOers again. they types that want to stop to smell the roses...... i wonder if thats a feature in AA? there creating such a vivid and real word i wouldent be surprised.... sorry got off track.
your the type that speeds to end game to run instance over and over. me me me. RAID TIME!!! how many DKP do i got? need that mob to drop that epic! DAMN!!!! WHIPED AGAIN!!!!!! next day... HEY WHEN IS THE RAID!
the above also pretains to instanced PVP (BGs/WFs) or w/e the kids are calling pvp these days.
just stick to your GW2 forum or what ever your touching yourself to these days. no one wants you here.
such a shame you had to post what you did. looking at your sig we could have been friends. but alas your an Asian hater and with me being part Japanese, well you get the picture.

You're looking for RP.
A lot of your replies suggest this, and I want to put this to you as gently as possible:
MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online
RPG = Role Playing Game
MMO != RPG
Now that we have that squared away:
Some players are looking for the RP part of RPG, and others are just simply looking for the G part of RPG. Both are looking for an MMO. But telling someone that they need to go play console games because they're not RP enough for an MMO is one of the more laughable things I've ever seen posted.
I like to explore the whole map, see the sights, know where everything is. I love communities and guilds. I love character developement aspects, weapon and armor selection, and ability choices. I love OPEN world combat... But I hate playing against the environment or in instanced PvP...
Does this make me less RP than some? Yes.
Does this make me a console gamer? No.
This makes me an MMORPGer that doesn't fit what I guess you would call the ideal RPGer... but I exist, and I'm always looking for games and willing to pay. Players like me are interested to see how long it will take to reach the max level so we can rip each others faces off in PvP...
If it takes too long, we'll look elsewhere. Simple.
Remember that casual gamers and PvPers pay the same rate as the hardcore grinders and role players... developers know this, so get used to it.

Ahh you silly silly person. i have never once RPed in any mmorpg. goes to show how much you know.
now that THATS out of the way....
YOU are the cause of ALL this fuss. YOU are the reason that the industry is in the state its in. YOU are the reason people like me cant enjoy a MMO without having there classes nerfed. YOU are the reason why games come and go so fast. YOU are the reason........
why do you feel the need to RUSH to max lvl?
why do you feel the need to RUSH through content?
why do you feel the need to FINISH a game that shouldent be finished?
the reason is simple. your a console gamer. now think back to the last consol game you beat. your max time playing the game might have been 10 hours of game time. could have been 12. could have been 4. you aquate those times to getting to max lvl in MMos and thats where you go wrong. my point is its in your nature to feel the need to BEAT the game. only problem is you cant beat MMORPGs.
"if it takes to long, well look elsewhere. simple" spoken like a true console gamer.
Edit: what do you mean by "i hate playing agenst the enviorment"

And you are demonstrating what has destroyed te mmorpg games. You want to the developers to spend years crafting a virtual world that can stand on its own 2 feet - that takes 3-5 years of expensive development, then you want to burn through that same content in 2 weeks so you can get to the Endgame. That content just got devalued.
Why does this happen? corporations are only interested in profit . They target the biggest market (fps/casual) and pull you into the game, then distort the game to suit your needs. You may think this is good, but the logical conclusion is do this with every type of game, and what you end up is 1 style of game repeated over and over and over and over.
The correect solution is build different types of game, and it is happening with Archage and (maybe) GW2. In the last couple of years though Blizzard have had a corner on the market and the market has stifled and innovation all but dried up, as a result of the chase for max profit above all else.
Simple scenario of why this is corrupt: Imagine in 5 years time RTS games came back into fashion and the RTS market took over the fps market as the biggest share. Now imagine if the developers of COD changed the game so that the levelling experience was fps then the end game was RTS (because that gives a biggest profit) greedy, but thats exactly what has happened to mmorgs in recent years.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now, before you had a fit, let's look further back to what I said:
"You are looking for RP."
Again, I'll try and make this nice and simple for you. I never said you were a role player, but that you're looking more for the role playing aspect of the RPG. You want to "stop and smell the roses," well... that sounds like a second life, like you want to absorb the environment of the game as though it's a second life. Don't explode on me here, it's a simple concept.
I don't want to absorb my environment as much as you do. I want to explore it, find the best spots for combat in respect to offense and defense, level my character to maximum level in two months at a break neck speed or four months casually. I don't want to grind the same mobs 6000 times or do boss fights until my eyes bleed... I want end game PvP.
On to the console comment. I do not own a console, not since NES at least.
Next, spell these with me:
A-g-a-i-n-s-t
E-n-v-i-r-o-n-m-e-n-t
Obviously my comment struck a nerve. Just calm down and spell check next time, I'm not trying to get at you.
Let's move to answering the comment containing these words:
Playing against the environment would be what you call playing against "mobs." Using hate may have been a little strong, looking back, I should have written that I dislike fighting a great number of simple AI creatures. There is no real point to it. I know I'm not going to die, and why should I? I am supposed to be a hero... that's why we play... to play the hero. We should be focusing our efforts on real villains... real players.
If fights against AI were more complex, perhaps just below the level of playing against another player, then perhaps I would be more compelled to play against the environment for prolonged periods. As it stands, AI in games is easy mode, as it is VERY predictable. I want to be challenged as a skilled player... not the one that could endure the most hours played. Also, I don't need to feel like I beat a game... I need to feel like I was challenged. That, to me, is fun.
Finally, I do not know why you are assuming that I am the reason your classes in past games have been nerfed. I believe that's called projection. In reality, a guy like me who spends little to no time on boards--as can be seen by my posts over 5 years on here--has nothing to do with classes being nerfed. I'm waiting for the Shadowbane emulator to drop to fill my time void, but in the mean time here I am.
I don't wish to dismiss your frustration, but I want to open your eyes with a reality check. You're frustrated because you're having a hard time adapting to how the field of MMO's is changing. MMO's are being geared for maximum profit. Maximum profit comes when you successfully integrate the maximum number of sub-genres, which means making more than one group of players just south of excited about a game, hovering more around just happy there is a game to be played. If you're not happy with what developers have been coming out with, maybe MMOs aren't your thing right now. Move to single player RPGs and maybe find one you can play on LAN, so you can fight with friends. If enough of you guys that like to fight against the environment and RP fail to arrive at game launches, the designers will be motivated to bring you back.
As an old school hardcore MMORPGer, I thank God that developers are changing their mindset on these long life in virtual worlds games. Not proud of the amount of time I've spent in the oldies.
The correect solution is build different types of game, and it is happening with Archage and (maybe) GW2. In the last couple of years though Blizzard have had a corner on the market and the market has stifled and innovation all but dried up, as a result of the chase for max profit above all else.

Now imagine if the developers of COD changed the game so that the levelling experience was fps then the end game was RTS (because that gives a biggest profit) greedy, but thats exactly what has happened to mmorgs in recent years.
I agree with your first point. ArcheAge is building something different, and they will see success. From the reviews I've seen, there will be a mid-ranged grind, open world PvP, plenty to build and destroy with you faction or guild, excellent crafting selections, beautiful graphics, a wonderful role playing environment, plenty of objectives and tasks for PvEers, and innovative systems to integrate all of these very different types of MMORPGers.
As for your simple scenario:
With very little overlap, it's hard to imagine an MMOFPS/RTS mix. I would hope that the FPSers would recognize the difference between the leveling design and the end game content, realize that they could play single player FPS games until the developers got the point, and got their FPS back. Not a very realistic scenario in the first place, but hopefully you catch my drift.
Beyond that, your comment is filled with unfounded assumptions which are nullified in my most recent comment.
Now, before you had a fit, let's look further back to what I said:
"You are looking for RP."

You presume to much. Yes i like to stop and smell the roses. does that mean that i want to bend over in the game and smell them? no it doesent. Does it mean that i like to take my time and enjoy my suroundings? Sure does.
From your previous post i can tell you that if it took 2 - 4 months to max lvl your toon, Your off to look for another game. you yourself said "If it takes to long, we'll look elsewhere. simple." that statement to me lets me know that 2 months its 1 1/2 months to long for you. the faster to end game the better for you.
On to the console comment. I do not own a console, not since NES at least.
You sure talk like you own one. In fact, it seems like you have 2 or 3 of them.
Next, spell these with me:
A-g-a-i-n-s-t
E-n-v-i-r-o-n-m-e-n-t
Now it always seems to me that the moment someone attack someones spelling, they have abandoned there defense for cheap, obvious shots. This is evendent in your next sentance making the note that i didnt use a spell check and tryng to demean me in some way for it. nice try but some of us see through that tactic.
Obviously my comment struck a nerve. Just calm down and spell check next time, I'm not trying to get at you.
Let's move to answering the comment containing these words:

Also, I don't need to feel like I beat a game... I need to feel like I was challenged. That, to me, is fun.
So what your saying is that mobs are dumb, stupid and irrelevant. You just eather want a more challenging way to lvl or just get to max lvl faster so as to not have to deal with AI mobs. All games have there tedium and its up the the developers to find ways to make it more enjoyable. Taking the journey out of the game is the fault of players like you. Give up on the journey so you dont have to "deal" with what you deem to be unworthy of your time.
Finally, I do not know why you are assuming that I am the reason your classes in past games have been nerfed. I believe that's called projection. Perhaps i was a bit to quick to blame YOU for the nerfs to classes. But as your comments suggest faster leveling and the like, i grouped you in with all the others that want to take MMOs and turn them into single player RPGs.
And here inlies the problem. Because of YOUR voice and wallet, these MMOs have beed, for the lack of a better word, "McDonaldized" Fast food for the gaming world. They took something that was good and mass marketed it for mass consumption. They gave up the soul of these MMOs for the bottom line. And as far as you telling me to play a single player RPG? thats what most of these MMOs are turning into.
No need to group with anyone unless its for raids. dont need anyones help to get to max level. Can just skip content after content to get to the desired level. Games today even let you jump to max lvl without ever having killed a mob or complete a quest. I believe GW2 is goin to have this as a feature for PVP. Could be wrong about this one though. if someone has info on that please let me know.
Until then... Shh. You'll scare the sheep.
You have the sheep part right. Nothing but sheep on these boards. And just FYI. I really dont like it when people tell me to SHH. We can have a debate on gameing and how/if its being destroyed but to tell me to shh? That was the wrong thing to say to me.
Now after reading your posts, would i be to bold as to call your type of game play, LAZY? Not wanting to deal with stupid MOBS in lew of your advancement toward... what was it you said? "Rip each others faces off in PVP." So any game play between 1-49 or 1-59 is worthless because you want to "Rip each others faces off in PVP"
You have an agenda and it begins with endgame PVP. So why would you want to play a game that makes you lvl TO 50 in the first place. I love open world PVP to (when its time for it) and i would love to face off with you in combat. But to forsake the rest of the game for one aspect of it is insane and frankly unhealthy for the industry.
I believe theres a change coming to the way MMOs are made. The current "WOW" money making model is on the way out. What replaces it is still unknown. Perhaps its this "SANDPARK" that some have dubed it. Who knows. All i do know is that im sick of this crop of games and welcome the change.

You know for some ppl if it doesnt have sucky western cartoon style ala wow or swtor - it is anime ...
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI
Rofl I really don't see how this game looks anything like a "typical korean grinder"... I mean really. All the game videos you see, all the news you hear, all the features you know about...and that equals korean grinder? I haven't even seen a single video about grinding. I've seen videos about building houses, farming, building ships, having naval battles, controlling territory, flying gliders, sieging and conquering land, the weapons aren't big, the graphics aren't anime, the world textures are actually good quality ect. Guess those are just korean grinder features and I haven't played any other korean games long enough to ever see them.
God i love this quote because it's true.
Apparently everything has to be ugly to do well over here.
being in Asian OBT and having english updates from the Dev side says they want our attention. That's the part I like about Asian development. If it's Asian only, it's never in English and often I am IP blocked. They don't pretend they care what i think to be polite.
...Then there is the sponsored people, who get paid to game / livestream, shoutcast, or are otherwise involved in the gaming industry.
Maxed out? No.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CryEngine_3
The following games were also released for consoles in 2011 using the CryEngine 3.
Crysis System requirements (click)
Crysis 2. System requirements (click)
The engine has great scalability.
That explains why an Asian MMO has been one of the top 3 selling and populated MMOs on the Western Market. Ohh wait no it isnt because every Asian MMO is trash and this game will be too, who ever is making this game should do itself a favor and not even attempt a Western translation because it will get lost on the core audience this side of the pacific and will fail regardless.
Everything you need to know about Elder Scrolls Online
Playing: GW2
Waiting on: TESO
Next Flop: Planetside 2
Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.
ROFL. looking at your quote under your avatar i can tell that you are delusional. for starters this game will do just fine. its goin to be a welcome change to the "standered" mmos that are being pumped out.
and just so were clear.
AMEN! This is why I got into MMO's, the community in FFXI was just awesome (BTW thats a jap "asian" grinder) But it was the best MMO I've ever played.
Sooooooo looking forward to AA!
Please check out my channel. I do gaming reviews, gaming related reviews & lets plays. Thanks!

havent figured out if i like that you called it a "jap" asian grinder. only time will tell.
You're looking for RP.
A lot of your replies suggest this, and I want to put this to you as gently as possible:
MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online
RPG = Role Playing Game
MMO != RPG
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
Until then... Shh. You'll scare the sheep.
As an old school hardcore MMORPGer, I thank God that developers are changing their mindset on these long life in virtual worlds games. Not proud of the amount of time I've spent in the oldies.
