They reviewed all aspects of the game individually but they didn't put a score on them. This is their overall score for the game.

I think these reviewers are coo coo for coco puffs..

I dont think ToR, in any way, should get a higher mark than Rift.Rift started off with a much better, less static, more action packed world.Flora and Fuana, world events, scattered battles throughout, hell even mobs that actually MOVED AROUND.There is just much more fun and appeal in Rift than ToR.

Rift has more of an 'alive' feeling and is much more well developed out of the gate than ToR

    ToR,in no way,gets no higher than a 7....._certainly NOT_ a 9...

Wow...I used to agree with most reviews that IGN does on games. The only score I can agree on is sound but graphics need to be separated in two categories for SWTOR. 1. Actually gameplay and 2. cinematics, (what SWTOR mainly is)

Actual gameplay is mediocre at best but cinematics are top notch.

Unfortunately IGN fails hugely on their ratings in all the other categories. Very shameful for such a long delvelopment and a huge let down for most gamers with common sense were hoping for.

Bioware's name has been extremely tarnished on the SWTOR release. I do believe however if this game was not over hyped from the beginning all these years and was casually slipped in at the last minute with a little advertising many real gamers would have been a little more open minded to the game and looked past this poorly developed title.

However you are not going to see poor reviews of this game after it's release by all the major websites. They would stand to lose quite a bit in advertising money from doing so when you are up against the big name game developer companies, food for thought for those that actually are able to on this site, not many though.

I get the same good quality graphics in gameplay and in the voiceover cinematics.

I'm on Nvidia, with antialiasing since launch and everything runs perfectly. Anisotropic filtering also forced at 16x to make the textures look sharp. And advanced development lightning forced in the ini file.

I guess you are on ATI? I've heard many having problems need to force mipmaping in their cards, etc... but still not perfect.

Sometimes some of the clothing textures are little blurry when you are very close (they need to improve this), but it's the same in the cinematics as in gameplay.

just to add to insult, even had to remove shadows from the game...and its a cartoon game wtf...

never had ATI issues,,, but damn i have now, or else someting is wrong

  • stealthbrstealthbr Member UncommonPosts: 1,054

Had ATi card then decided to get an Nvidia. Never looked back..

  • ktanner3ktanner3 Member UncommonPosts: 4,063
Yep, ATI cards are shit. Sorry, but that's been my experience with them. This game not only looks awesome on my geoforce, but performance is also very smooth. Not bad for a card that was only $180 dollars and a 520 watt power supply for $70 dollars.:)

IGN's Warhammer Online Rating: 9 "Amazing"

I wouldn't read too much into these "professional" reviews, particularly when it comes to MMO's (I'd argue the same for FPS' as well, but that's for another thread).

The guy spent 150 hrs playing. I think that gives him a fair idea of the game.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

To many for the first couple of months, the game was a 9, it just got tired fast. At release, this was some of the most fun I had in years.  Whats your point? Also, why do you think you are the judge of what ratings games do and dont deserve and how they should rate against each other? I bet you money if the review was a 2, you'd be like "FINALLY AN HONEST REVIEW". When some of you don't get what you want, then its lets find a comparison they did that I don't agree with to discredit them..or...they were paid...or zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..same old tired argument we have seen in countless threads.

Presentation: The dialogue and story is why you should want to play The Old Republic ..

Yeah, because it certainly wouldn't be for the gameplay.

He mentions that PvP is excellent and that there's plenty of innovations in PvP.

I will presume that he likes the competitive aspect of games designed by MC HAMMER.

Really? Can you explain to me what's so good about it? 90 percent of quests are to go somewhere and click a glowing object, fighting mobs on the way there and back. And you repeat this all the way through the game. While these quests might be cleverly disguised behind voice overs, a voice over isn't a part of gameplay, it's a tool for moving you through the game.

If you were to take out all the voice overs and replace them with quest text, would the game be as much fun? Would the gameplay still be something to 'love'?

I m so sick of people saying this. "Take out all the voice overs" They re there, thats what makes the mundane quests better then other MMOs. The game is good, the very small vocal minority hates it, well thats fine not everyone can like it, but as I said, very small vocal minority hates it.

My guild is growing daily, and my old Rift guild is dieing more each day. Will it last, for most I think so according to how they feel about the game.

Alot of people say theres no replayability. Almost everyone who actually enjoys the game is having fun on alts. If anyone played Rift, you would know what the meaning of no replayability is.

Is SWTOR a perfect game, no. Is it one of if not the best themepark MMOs on the market, absolutely.

Another accurate review, only issue I would rate PvP a 7.  Hutball is win other than that it needs improved, though I didn't expect PvP to be ground breaking at this point either.

If you don't like a game don't play it, and quit running to MMORPG.com to trash it.
