I love the gameplay. So do countless others. Sorry it isn't for you...again.
Really? Can you explain to me what's so good about it? 90 percent of quests are to go somewhere and click a glowing object, fighting mobs on the way there and back. And you repeat this all the way through the game. While these quests might be cleverly disguised behind voice overs, a voice over isn't a part of gameplay, it's a tool for moving you through the game.
If you were to take out all the voice overs and replace them with quest text, would the game be as much fun? Would the gameplay still be something to 'love'?
Is it really that hard for you to accept that someone likes something that you do not? Really?

I m so sick of people saying this. "Take out all the voice overs" They re there, thats what makes the mundane quests better then other MMOs. The game is good, the very small vocal minority hates it, well thats fine not everyone can like it, but as I said, very small vocal minority hates it.
My guild is growing daily, and my old Rift guild is dieing more each day. Will it last, for most I think so according to how they feel about the game.
Alot of people say theres no replayability. Almost everyone who actually enjoys the game is having fun on alts. If anyone played Rift, you would know what the meaning of no replayability is.
Is SWTOR a perfect game, no. Is it one of if not the best themepark MMOs on the market, absolutely.
It's not a vocal minority when you only have 350k subs. Do the math. And yes it IS relevant to the conversation to say, take away all the voice overs and what are you left with...it speaks volumes. The point is clearly that they had all this time and delays and huge amounts of funds to throw at the game and this is the best they can come up with?

Sounds like you need a game genre change. Fact is TOR "quest grinding" is minimal and not required to level outside of class storyline, they are optional. And if you choose to do them they actually tell the story of who, what, when, why and how if you choose not to hit the space bar in a rush to level 50.
Name one game that does not have some quest grinding of 10 rabid bear pelts (that have a drop rate of 20%), elf necklaces or orc nose rings. Talk about "worthless" grinding.
If you don't like a game don't play it, and quit running to MMORPG.com to trash it.

See you said if it didn t have.... Well it does so you can t say take them away, except to argue and absolutely mundane point. 350 k subs is not what they have thats cocurrent. If you don t know what that means they had 350k people online at the same time. On average thats about 8-10% of the total people playing. So as you said to me do the math.
It s ok your game will survive, just probably not with the sub numbers SWTOR will have, unless you re WOW.
Actually, since people are REQUIRED to put in their CC number immediately they can check the numbers without a billing cycle. no one's going to give up free game time no matter how bad the game.
And it's definitely NOT hating to point out obvious flaws with the dev team and to demand more for your money no matter the ip.

So to have someone voice to you to go and rescue Jimmy from the well, instead of having to read the text of someone telling you to go rescue Jimmy from the well, makes the quests so much better? As I've said, the voice overs are nice, but you don't 'play' a voice over, if you took all the rest of the game away BUT voice overs it wouldn't even be classed as a game, would it?
So what you're left with is the actual game itself, as the voice overs are just quest text being read to you. And the game, to me, is severely lacking. It's the same, "Click a glowing object.", quest repeated over and over and over.. and over.. and over..

Yep, what I m left with is a very good game. You see opinions are just that opinions. I m guessing ours are different. All I m saying is the VOs add alot to the story of the game for me because I actually know why I m rescuing Jimmy, or killing rats etc. The cutscenes in FFXI we re one of my favorite parts of that game, and now I love them in here. So, If I had to take them out, it wouldn t be as good a game to me, but still a very good game.

350K was concurrent users, at least quote an accurate arguement when you flame a game.
Last time i checked 1:1 ratio for sub/user existed unless you know of a space/time warp that doubles each user.
Suggest you look up "concurrent".
just did, argument still stands, it takes 1 sub to allow 1 person to play. 350k is 350k.
Are you serious right now? I feel so embarassed for you. Go read up on what concurrent means, again..
Concurrent users are determined by how many players are ONLINE at any given time. This is not a Total, and for you to think this is after multiple people telling you otherwise is absurd. How blind with hate are these trolls on this site? I cannot even fathom how horrible it must be to hate something so much.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

I think the difference is that TOR environments are such dull wastelands that only the voice overs tend to actually be fun. They're the driving force in this game, the actual 'grind' is so dull and the areas you fight in so drained of life that it feels like a chore to do it. But you have to do it, so you can see the next part of the movie. It's like going to a cinema and every few minutes of the movie they interrupt things and have you complete 10 math questions before you can continue watching.
At least in these 'worthless grinding' games the environments are alive, npc's wander around, birds fly in the sky, something.. ANYTHING.. happens besides 3 mobs standing in a circle waiting to be attacked. That, to me, is more grind than these 'grinding games', because at least you can be distracted by the environments in those. At least you feel like you're moving through a world, rather than a stage that the voice actors are waiting to walk out onto.
Is it really that hard for you to accept that someone likes something that you do not? Really?
Not at all. I didn't like World of Warcraft yet people in their millions seem to love that game. I guess that's the problem, The Old Republic is pretty much just World of Warcraft - For Dummies.
Again, as others have stated, you have a right to your opinion, no matter how wrong it may be. Just don't force your opinion on others. You may hate all these games, but you are the minority, and you will continue being the minority for a long time.

I think these reviewers are coo coo for coco puffs..
I dont think ToR, in any way, should get a higher mark than Rift.Rift started off with a much better, less static, more action packed world.Flora and Fuana, world events, scattered battles throughout, hell even mobs that actually MOVED AROUND.There is just much more fun and appeal in Rift than ToR.
Rift has more of an 'alive' feeling and is much more well developed out of the gate than ToR
ToR,in no way,gets no higher than a 7....._certainly NOT_ a 9...
Much of what you wrote is YOUR opinion, I just happen to disagree with it. I found Rift to be a "soulless" game. The story wasn't good, some areas were just packed to capacity with mobs (read too many), the feature highlight "rifts" got to be aggravating and annoying when questing, the quests were horrible (even the quest givers seemed bored giving them).
I had to force myself to log in because I just didn't enjoy it. Of course, this is all just my opinion. I think a 7 for Rift is way too generous.
Having said that, I'm enjoying my time in SWTOR. I haven't felt this connected to a character in quite a while and usually never in an MMO. The immersion is what keeps drawing me back. There are issues with the game, not game breaking issues, but issues none the less.
To be honest, I think a 9 is a bit high, but hey, I'm not the one doing the review. Kudos to IGN for liking the game, though.

It means that they have 350k people logged in at one time.
Or
Every single person that owns the game is logged in at the exact same moment.
Yeah...... I think I'll go with the first choice.
Lol, well said.

Yet gamespot readers gave it an 8.8, and isn't that what really matters?
And metacritic averages it out at 87... hmmm... sounds like IGN is a lot closer to the average, indicating their review is more accurage compared to IGN. (See, this doesn't involve me calling it more accurate just because it's closer to my PERSONAL opinion. Try thinking outside the box a little!)

Actually, since people are REQUIRED to put in their CC number immediately they can check the numbers without a billing cycle. no one's going to give up free game time no matter how bad the game.
And it's definitely NOT hating to point out obvious flaws with the dev team and to demand more for your money no matter the ip.
just did, argument still stands, it takes 1 sub to allow 1 person to play. 350k is 350k.
Lol, you really don t get what we re saying , do you? I ll leave it at that I have to go to work, so you win, I guess. /facepalm
So, If I had to take them out, it wouldn t be as good a game to me, but still a very good game.
hmm, post 29 for the "omg payed off!!1111" to apear, longer than expected

Again, as others have stated, you have a right to your opinion, no matter how wrong it may be. Just don't force your opinion on others. You may hate all these games, but you are the minority, and you will continue being the minority for a long time.

It means that they have 350k people logged in at one time.
Or
Every single person that owns the game is logged in at the exact same moment.
Yeah...... I think I'll go with the first choice.
Lol, well said.

I always read reviews on gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/star-wars-the-old-republic/platform/pc for TOR) and on this occassion I think gamespot gave them a more accurate score compared to IGN.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
