I was just over at the official site and was checking out some of the beta testers screenshots. Beautiful game world but where are the mobs? Where are the different character classes? Where is anything other than some nice vistas produced by the games engine? One scene out of 115 showing mages and the same scene showing the only battle in the whole bunch. I mean come on here Devs lets see something other than hang fliers and falling in the snow. How about some solid info on classes and skills, some solid info on tradeskills, some screenies showing some action other than hang gliding.
The game is supposed to be released in November, it will be August in a day or so that makes it 3 months and counting until release. Come to think of it the game was supposed to be released last spring but was delayed for polish supposedly. Looks like they still have most of a game to make before they worry about polish, just my opinion.
I am willing to go solidly on record now in my prediction that there is no way this game will release in November 2005, maybe November 2006 but no way this year. If it does release this year it will fall into the category of Mourningware, that is released but nowhere ready for release. This is one prediction in which I truly hope I am dead wrong.

I agree with you. As hyped as I am about the game (in guild for it already), I wish the screenshots looked a little more full of....anything. I admit the world does look great, but if its really empty then that would be dissapointing. Also the lack of info on classes is noticable, would definitely like to see more info.
It's not like WOW if that's what you mean... beasts are few and far between, similar to the real world... creatures are hidden away and need to be hunted down, migration and moving spawns are part of the dynamic, camping will be difficult... spotting beasts will take work, and skill.
Here is an example of one sighting of a rare beast

Yeah I bet camping will be difficult, for that matter finding something to fight looks as if it will take hours of game time. Right now the game makes SWG look overpopulated and you really think a lot of players will go for that ? If that's the final plan then I have a feeling that this games release will be make Ryzom and Horizons releases look like mega successes.
Thats a nice render by the way, how where are the ingame movies of actual players doing something other than playing tourist at Yellowstone or hang gliding at Maui? How about some solid info on the quest system, or crafting , or classes other than warrior? Now about some movies of mages spell effects? Or are those all still works in progress for a game that is still scheduled for release at the end of the quarter?

You haven't said much positive in any post about DnL. I get the feeling your not here out of interest, I think spite.
Trolling?... it sure looks like it
That can be very exciting and reward, IF its implemented properly. I don't mind spending hours hunting down a single beast, just as long as the rewards for it are in scale with the labors. It would certainly elimate the grind from a game.

True Fadeus... "if" its implemented properly. The Devs have great ideas, I hope they can pull it all together, and make it work.

Dnl will have dinamic migrating mobs, that you´ll have to hunt, and static spawn points, for those who want to stay in the same area killing monsters over and over. Hey, if you find it funny, devs will give it to you, for everyone else, there are the dynamic spawns and the migrating mobs. ^^
But, when you say:
""I am willing to go solidly on record now in my prediction that there is no way this game will release in November 2005, maybe November 2006 but no way this year. The only thing I can do here, is agree with you. I want DnL to be a true succes, see the world full of people, and meet tons of nice people, but when I see the actual videos... Anyway, I only hope that, when DnL goes gold, it will be really finished.
I'll take that 50 pence, WoW did not last till the end of the free month on my hard drive. As far as being a troll I am asking some hard questions. Questions which may irritate the fanbois, but never the less they are valid questions.
I am not saying DNL sucks, what I am saying is I have not seen squat for real info on a game that was supposed to be released last spring and is now supposed to be released in 3 months. maybe if the DnL Devs read these posts they might release some info, or give some of the gamesites beta accounts so they can do some preview articles.
Now if some of you will take your fanbois blinders off. Blaclsac you sure seem to have a lot of screenies so I will assume you are either the #1 fanbois beta tester and immune to any NDA restrictions or a member of the dev team, so how about getting us some real info instead of calling a possible future customer a troll just because he's asking the hard questions. Or did you take your customer relations lessons from the Mourning developers?.
After Mourning, Saga of Ryzom, and the Matrix's less than spectacular releases yeah I am real skeptical that a MMORPG can be made that is not the boring bland crap from the SOE and Blizzard or piles of bugs and no content like the ones I just mentioned. So I might come off as a troll, but after all the cruddy launches and near misses I am sick to death of the phrase "trust the Devs'. From now on my main phrase is "show me the money" or more appropriately "show me the game"..
You guys want to suck up to the Devs that's your business, me I will call them on the BS, and I am beginning to smell something that is suspiciously like fertilizer over on the DnL site. All I see an hear is look at this great world engine, ok so you have a great world engine, but scenery alone does not make a game, where the heck is the game at?
Now if you guys want to get back to your blind "this game will be great" and" I cannot wait for release" fanbois drivel feel free.
I miss DAoC
What a load of BS... making out you are some kind of quality control vigilante.
Spare us your "trying to save our souls from the big bad world of gaming dissapointment" BS
Balance your posting with what you like... tell us what you are looking forward to in game... then people may think you are more honest... future customer my a..
I am not saying you are a troll, but based on what you have posted so far it looks that way... you actually write well, and with some thought, but it is totally negative... now why would that make us skeptical with anything you type?
If you are always negative with work colleagues, friends and family, I guarantee you, people will turn away from you.
I too am aware of the huge difficulty getting a game with these many features to release unscathed... and I would almost certainly say DnL will get hit hard by the critics once it is out. The Dev team is small, the project HUGE! I expect trouble... what I like is the ideas, and hope to hell they pull it off... if it bombs, so be it, it is just a game.
Chill
i deffinitely don't want monster camping and it seems to me that if you have to spend hours of game time to hunt down a mob that sure will make all the differance to me
rather then spending countless RL hours in a trance camping lugiies in the citadel
the more the mobs are hidden the better it will be
Some good solid info is what I would like to see. A preview by MMORPG.com, Ogaming, RPGplanet , or any of the more or less reputable sites would shut me up fast. But if what you are saying is that the game is going to get hit hard by the reviewers that tells me most of what I need to know right there.
This whole genre is disappointing anymore, all I see are EQ clones polished up and dumbed down. And the bad part is when a game like DnL or Mourning, or SoR comes along with the promise off something better they run out of funding before the game can be completed.
I miss DAoC
I actually agree with your sentiment there Jackdog
Enough said from me I think.
"Nods head"

I guess that the devs don't want to give out too much information or the wrong information. - Showing off an incomplete game can hurt more than it does good.
The partnership with Farlan, Alchenic Dream and lately also with Snailgame shows that there is much confidence in this game. It shows that they want to compete with games like Linage 2 on the Asian market. - That's where Snailgame comes in. They're also providing new graphics for the world server. This is not the story of the failure we saw with Wish. How the finished product turns out remains to be seen, though. But I have confidence it will turn out great.
Nemo sine vitio est
The ideas are great, not much solid information, so lets stick with the great ideas. No need to get all worked up about how it's going to fail...
and I don't think you can clone EQ >.< it's all hack 'n' slash.

I don't think I said it is going to fail. I did say I doubt it will be ready for release this year. However common sense tells me that it does release before it is ready there is a darn good chance it will fail. Horizons, Saga of Ryzom, and Mourning have all shown that theory to be justified.
As far as I know AO has been the only MMO to ever recover from a pre mature launch, SoR and Horizons are still struggling along with a limited player base. The question though is for how long can they remain unprofitable or border line profitable? This is a business you know, and to remain in business the investors usually like to see profits. Mourning finally rolled over on it's back and died a prolonged painful death, Wish decided the game was not feasible and decided to cut it's losses early as did Dragon Realms. Call me a pessimist but I feel as if I am only being realistic.
The questions I have is this "Will the game be be ready for release this fall? and " Will the game be delayed if it is not ready for release?" . If the answer to either of those questions is yes, then I feel the game has a darn good chance success, if the answer to both are no then it will flop like a fish on land.
