They just released new servers, I suggest you join Kelecgos PvP server....Lots of low levels and not as much ganking. If you pick an older server, there will be all 60's and no groups
2. Play horde, alliance sucks. Alliance outnumbers horde on every server, and they still lose....badly. In fact, an Alliance will not start a fair 1 on 1 fight, they won't even start an unfair 2 to 1 fight, they'll wait until they have about 5-6 to 1 before they'll engage. Of course they all suck so bad that even with 5-6 to 1 odds they still lose....badly. Uncle Orc wants YOU!
i finaly got it installed i have to chose a realm can you change realms later or not i want to be in the one my friends use if you cant change your realm

You are allowed 10 characters on each server with a total of 5 servers. Or you can have 50 characters spread out on different servers.

You can alter realms freely, and unlike some other game (*cough* EQ2 *cough*) there aren't any limits (at this time) on the # of characters you can have per server (think EQ1).
First, decide what you want to play. Don't get caught up in the hate that spews in the "you gotta play Horde, Alliance sucks" garbage. Play what you want to play. Night Elves rock, but there are TONS of them running around. Horde is outnumbered on most servers. Hm. What's important to you? PvP or PvE? Actually, that's less an issue, since PvP is available on the "normal" or "PvE" servers (just by "permission" only, people can turn on and off their PvP flags, whereas on PvP servers it's on, period). Interesting geography/architecture? The human starting city is typical medieval, Dwarven Ironforge is interesting but the biggest clog in the world as far as lag goes (everyone on the alliance side has to go there to use the Auction House). Night Elf Darnassus is cool but empty, since it's way off in a corner and doesn't have an auction house. I think the Tauron city is far more interesting than the Orc city, but like Darnassus it lacks an auction house.
Tauron is an interesting culture, and they make great fighters and Shaman (and look cool). Personally the trolls just look stupid, but that's IMO. Hm. Hopefully you'll have the same good experiences I had in the first month or two of playing (although, you'll have avoided "release Beta", as Dec-April has been affectionately and not affectionately called). The Undead area and city are interesting but, like Darnassus and the Tauron city, lack the auction house and hence aren't that heavily travelled. Actually, the gothic styling of the Undead starting areas pretty much rocks.
A few clues: the auction house is the center of life, both buying and selling. Don't settle in -- roam. Explore. The world is large and relatively open. The interface is customizable, so you can set up hotbars without having to get an outside program -- again, the game was built to be as easy as humanly possible to set up and play. What else? Hm. Don't know, may come back later and throw more into the pot.
I think I kept it mostly positive. I left, and have been free with the reasons why, but that doesn't mean that people shouldn't step in and see what it's about.
I"m not clear of the meaning of your changing realms question. But, if you start a character on a server there he remains. You cannot swap him around different servers. You can start a new character on a different realm, but the old one stays where he was created.
Did you make your chars on PvP server? if so, think VERY hard. I made this mistake and I leveld all the way to 47 onr char, and several others to 30-35ish before the ganking finaly got to me. PvP servers are full of gankers, there is no penalty for a level 60 to kill a level 30. So you will get ganked a lot.. and i mean ALOT, and whats most unpleasant, you will get ganked when u least epxect it and when u least desire it. And you haven o choice in that, so if a bunch of horde taking a camp, you CANT hang around there. Unless u get your buddies and try to kill them all.
Even the safe zones arent 100% safe. Ive been frustrated with this escort quest in Westfall, some asshole rogue kept killing my escort so I couldnt finish it. Took me around 40 minutes to find someone high enough to escort me to escort my NPC. After that i said, SCREW IT, i like to have control over when i want to PvP and when i want to PvE.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
