my shard has been low pop for a long time now, but it still has more then enough people. there are never any issues with doing invasions, pugging GSB or RoS, or doing raid rifts. the queues in my shard group are fast as hell for T2s for doing the dailies, and 50 chat is always active. i'm on Alsbeth btw.
today i logged on to see that my shard has been selected as a trial server and it was recomended to move to shatterbone. don't really think that the transfers were required, but i'm cool with a server merge as more never hurt anything. what our defient guilds decided to do was each have a guild meeting and then all the GMs are going to come together tomorrow to talk about what shard to move to as a whole. the community in Rift is amazing and people don't want to be split from each other, even in competitive guilds (on my shard). this idea may be good or bad considering pvp queues. i'm no GM and am just along for the ride. overall i'm happy with this decision by trion and it's been asked for by the community for a while now. wolfsbane transfers were cut off this morning too.
i think i found the full list, but may be off. this was cut/paste from another post in the trion forums. you can move to whatever shard you want, but this is what is "recomended". i think these are the shards that got a notice of being moved to a trial server (eventual shut down).

Why some of those servers that were low have been kept open since March is beyond me. Atrophinus maybe in the last 10 months peaked medium maybe once lol
Some of these were expected. The Rp servers servers taking a hit thanks to the big RP game launching is not a big shocker. Faeblight is basically one MASSIVE rp guild that runs the entire server and has alot of pull with Trion. Weddings are getting added into the game because of their request.
Kudos to Trion for biting the bullet and dong this, game will be better off in the long run.
As for that guild on Faeblight, I dont even think they RP, bt they do have a lore themed ongoing event which is basically an excuse to trigger invasions in zones that dont often see invasions any more.
Odd that trion caters to them considering its no secret the leadership is moving to GW2 (has said on their webppage since day 1), although Id imagine a sizable part of the guild will remain
I think as it stands right now by my count literally everyone who has touched a mmo in the past 20 years is moving to GW2. The TOR hype hardly begins to compare to what I am seeing on that game. It does make sense considering the guild comes from a heavy RvR background.
The freaking guild consist of like 1.6k players or some insane number. Rift guilds do not have a limit on the number of players so they get big. If this latest patch 1.7 proves anything Trion is now doing whatever the hell they feel like with pvp because all the kiddies let, so who is left to piss off lol
The hilarious part is playing around like they are will probably make it the most balanced pvp on the market lol
I have a toon in that guild actually. They are actually pretty damn mature for a guild that size. usually those huge guilds suck but that one doesnt. just too many people.
