New game to start ? ( Only played WoW )

JamesLewisJamesLewis Member Posts: 23

So, I want to play a new game but don't know which one to go to?

I need some suggestions and the most noted I will try out :)

Things I liked about World of Warcraft:

Guilds

Good PvE/PvP balance

Decent amount of players

Option to RP

Can keep you busy for an extended period of time

Actually look forward to playing it

I'd suggest telling people what you liked about WoW to get better feedback.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

Sorry I will just edit my post :)

Bit of a noobish post tbh

Naturally I would say try Star Wars ToR.

City of Heroes can be cool as an alternative to WoW as well while keeping many of the themepark similarities.

EVE Online if you want to try the other side of MMORPGs. A whole lot more cut-throat so be careful.

I don't believe the PVP is anything that remotely resembles good in SWTOR, but its probably your best option.

    TRF - GM - GW2, PS2, WAR, AION, Rift, WoW, WOT....etc...
    Future Crew - High Council. Planetside 1 & 2.

That's so generic that you could like just about anything.  It would help if you had preferences that clearly fit some games and not others.

If you want to try something similar to WoW, then I would suggest LOTRO (free to play) or SWTOR (Subscription).

Both have guilds.  PVP is better in SWTOR imo (compared to lotro).  LOTRO  has a great RP community if you pick the right server.  Both will keep you busy for a while.

I would suggest something entirely new like Vanguard, Darkfall, AoC, Guildwars, LoL, EVE, meh your post was pretty vague.

Wait a month when Aion goes F2p..in my op Aion is the best secondary choice to WoW.

Although Aion is a bit more hardcore than WoW..WoW is for casual players these days.

I played WoW for 7yrs and tried out almost every mmorpg out to date except SWTOR.

I'd suggest you go with something completely different where the build up isn't: brainless questing - reach max level - do end game content - do the half assed PvP options..

It will just feel like WoW all over again, but to a lesser extend..

Well any MMO can take your time and can be fun (making it so you look forward to playing). Guilds PvP/PvE balance, options to RP hmm... maybe EVE Online it is different enough from WoW, but hits all your bullet points. Just the main difference is EVE is insanely complicated compared to WoW's systems. But can be very addicting for those who find good guilds (corporations in EVE).

EQ2 is pretty decent..not sure I would call it balanced...but it's more balanced than most, I suppose. That kept me entertained for at least a year. It has a lot of what you want and it's very similar to WoW.

I'm currently in Guild Wars, but if you are really used to WoW, you might not like Guild Wars. It's quite different from WoW. Mostly instanced, almost completely soloable (provided you have Heroes and the right builds), not much endgame to speak of (no raiding), unless you like PvP and elite dungeons. It has guilds and guild systems but the main function of guilds is to PvP.  One thing I will say is that it is pretty balanced..for the most part. Some people would disagree, but I don't really find a lot of classes that are terribly underpowered as long as you have the right skill build.  They have a free trial so you could always try it out and see how it goes and if you don't like it, then nothing lost :)

Do you want some cheese with that whine? :)
