And if after playing you're still stuck in your brain with how non HD the textures are, just quit the game, because it means you're so uninterested in gameplay and story that HD textures implementation won't change anything for you.

This is not about the game, nor gameplay, this is about unethical practices. If you don't have the ability to uphold someone for bad behavior, that's fine. But you then also forfiet any right to name call or dismiss those who do.

Anyway my post was not particularly against you, but more against all those forum posters in swtor.com (and here I found) who can't stop bashing Bioware saying the game is a fail for details. Yes, 1024x1024 textures over 512x512 when not in close up is a detail. Yes, slightly nerfing slicing is a detail. Yes, not having a LFD is a detail.

Just like it's a detail not to have hit combos like in fighting games, just like it's a detail not to have speeder races, ... or it's a detail not to be able to sail with a boat.

The problem is that majority of whiners I see on different forums about swtor are taking one of these details as an argument to rage quit and predicate the game's failure.

My say : Enough is enough. Those people don't seem to have the intelligence to realize that you can't have everything you wanted for christmas at launch. The only reason why these people are so violently reacting is because of their self-entitlement. That good old, typical, self entitlement.

Honestly I would be an investor, I would say fuck off, I'm getting away from videogames, those kids are impossible to satisfy.

They saved three years on average on development simply by purchasing Hero Engine from Simutronics, so why is it unreasonable to think that over three years later after the intial announcement that the game wouldn't be ready? Or at least ready on the promises they made? Honestly I think you are the one missing things here, it isn't asking much or being self entitled to call a company on what they didn't do and what they promised. Have you looked at how 'you" word things to Bunks? Really?

again this game just came out it lacks alot of features and bugs if u want a 6 year polished mmo world of warcraft doesnt cost much to play and has no bugs just cute lil elfs and kung fu pandas and very good pvp. but im willing to bet some people are the type even wow isnt good anough for them so they are hoping for the pipe dream of a new mmo that is fully polished and has every feature known to man in it wich isnt gonna happen.

So has self entitlment taken on a new meaning? Last I checked if you worked for something and paid for it you earned it.

Yes, most customers are going to expect what was advertised when they buy it. Not in an undisclosed timeframe. Only emotionally attached people would think otherwise. Anyways, not having high rez textures is the least of this game's problems. Really surprised people care that much.

You fanboys will delete your accounts soon enough, and be reincarnated as fanbabies of some other game. Getting really tired of this cycle.

I see you have a new account... Not surprised in the least.

I don't see your point about the Hero Engine allowing people to riot because the game is not what they wanted.

I'm sorry, but I read all the major feature announcement on swtor.com, and I didn't see a thing that's not in game. Be pragmatic, please. I'm not saying the game is perfect score, I'm just saying that people are riotting for substancially nothing. If Bioware would have delivered a Vanguard, I'd understand...

Well no, I wouldn't understand either the riotting. I would understand the riotting if Bioware would have cancelled the game and kept the money. Overreaction. That's all.

Ok as I see this new "lies, lies, lies" and "false advertisement" trend was born from the HD texture swtor.com thread, I'll bite :

Tell me, point by point, where the false advertisement is. And how is it a sufficient reason for 1) quitting the game 2) predicting its failure.

p.s : what difference does it make for me to have a new account ? I'm not in the "circle" enough to post opinions ? Maybe I'm a new account, but this didn't prevent me from watching critic trend after critic trend. Yesterday the Swtor's doom was "the game is average". Then it was "There's no LFD". And now it's "Lies, lies, lies". And everytime this kind of trend emerges, all the doomsayers focus on it with all their strength, completely forgetting what was the last doom flavor.

Can you see where is this annoying ?

If the game wasn't for you that is understandable. There is no perfect game and not every game suit everyone's taste. But these posts are silly and even a waste of time on your own part. Just very silly to me.

As for the article, it's good to hear some sort of communication. Sometimes I think Bioware is a bit too bottled up on this product. It's still rather general but it's good info to know their direction and that they do have something mapped instead of sitting on their hands.  I'll wait and see how it goes from here then.

Well let me try to claify it for ya....

As a player who did play the game and after two weeks unsubscriberd and removed the install from my SSD....

I feel the need to post because the media and even EA/Bioware are falling over themselves with praise about what an amazingly successful game SWOTR is.  I know that I am just an everyday MMO player and if the game failed to hold my interest then I it can not be as successful as they proclaim.  I can't be th eonly one that thought the game was "meh".

I am helping by putting a bit or realism and truth out there,  do you honestly believe EA/Bioware are goign to announce,  well we are very pleased with the game so far and at this point we have only seen a 25% reduction in subscriptions since launch !!!

Just doing my part to help the next AAA MMO company not repeat the mistakes of SWOTR.

You know what man, most poeple buy a game, play it, decide if it's fun or not, then keep on playing or go do something else.  They don't try to read between the lines, they aren't upset that their textures are not the highest possible.  They play games to have fun, not to become a fanboy or a hater.

This site has become barely tolerable.  With the constant news stories about the game, which bring in nothing but trolls and complainers.  Personally, I enjoy the game, because I don't care about all the bs about textures, or about how I was supposedly misled.  The game is fun for me, and my friends.  Are there problems?  Of course.  Every piece of software has problems.  Will they get fixed?  Probably.  I have no reason to doubt they wont.

We get you guys don't like the game or all 800 guildmates you brought over have quit.  Move on to something else lol.  It's kind of sad to see the same people post the same things over and over again.  Move on, IT'S JUST A GAME.

I find this an amusing read. However, I would like to interject a few points. By the way I currently play SWTOR.

    • People are saying they are leading because it is a recommendation to others not to play the game. That is what gaming communities and forums do, advise other gamers. You can chose to ignore it or to take heed.

    • Why is it this or WoW? You play SWTOR or go back to WoW. I came from Aion (UK player left over FTP EU servers) its tiring to hear "Panadas...wow...20 levels free". I have never played WoW and do not intend to thank you.

    • The graphics are disappointing, but then I came Aion. Launched with good graphics and then updated them 1 year in! Its all about standards I suppose. In my mind this is what all the fans of western art and MMO's get, tolerable graphics

    • People are leaving on mass, but my server Tomb of Freedon Nadd still has a 1 hour que in peak times. I would be happy if a few of the guilds here would rage quit.

    • Arena PvP is dire

    • World PvP is dire

    • < Level 50 PvP is dire

    • PvP gear system is dire

    • In short everything PvP is dire

    • The game is riddled with bugs and a bad UI

    • Just don't treat it like a AAA MMO and its fine really. I intend to get my moneys worth and if that means pretending its made by Gameforge/Cryptic so be it.

I bought this expecting not much (Average, generic, unoriginal MMO) and it hasn't dissapointed. Why did people think it was going to be the second coming?

wait so we are getting a new planet with a new operation and warzone and storyline next week?! thats awesome!

The images here are not images in game. Stop lying. Swtor is fun. Don't get me wrong. The story is epic. I would play it for that. But to sustain. What story after 50? How can you sustain all the voice acting for new content? Why spend the resource on it when you can put it else where. High-res graphics for one. I mean the reason you tell us we can't have high res working would have been acceptable in 2001. But in 2011 it's down right ridiculous. Just showing you've hired the WTO g engine designers and programmers. The software community is laughing at you and you don't realize it.

This website is rediculous in its shameless promotion of sub par games who pay lots of advertisement dollars. You want to know the future of SWTOR? Well good news for you I know what it is. 300 thousand subs and a possible Free to Play item shop, you're welcome.

    Good post.

I'm enjoying SWTOR for what it is but very dissapointed by the pvp for many reasons; not the least of which is horrible balance and lack of any tiers for warzones when the game went live and still no tiers.  Oh wait, next week "maybe" we get the level 50's finally in their own tier.  Lightning speed work boys.  Good job  /sarcasm off.

Frankly, I'm thrilled that Lineage ][ went FTP because I am playing that as much as I'm playing SWTOR and, "it's free" ;p

SWTOR is fun, but it's far from what it could and should be.   They need an entirely new PvP Dev. Team imo.  There is like nothing right about the PvP.   About all you can say is you can pvp.  Terrific.

thats great, but its easy to counter that by saying, that almost the entire SWTOR group on my ventrillo server cancelled last night. 15 out of 19. 2 weren't online and the other 2 had 3 month subs.

Heh, did they "cancel"? Or did they really cancel. And what MMORPG is your ventrilo server moving to that is going to rock? If there's a better option, share it with us. Or is it back to MW3?

No they actually cancelled, as in deleted all info and stopped playing.

Maybe this is foreign to some, but our group is a band of players from all gaming sets. We have 45 members who at one time or another played a common game. For example, Operation Flashpoint was our first, which is why 25 of us are ex-military. Some are going back to Rift (3 I think), some back to WOW (most) and the rest are going to play more of what we all play already. Skyrim, Evachron Mercernaries, Battlestar Galactica Online, and some even want to retry EQ2 and STO.

but they all share one theme, EA and BW are liars and scammers. The chat got so ugly, I had to log off before 9pm.

We are talking a game here which costs pretty much nothing . Not sure what you expected but they delivered exactly what they said they would a pleasant stroll with lots of Story....

What is so sophisticated about sitting there and watching some poorly written dialogue acted out by a poorly-graphiced toon making random gestures, every once in awhile deciding whether to say, "You're crazy!" or "Hmmm...", a choice which will have no impact on your game anyway.

Rest of the game besides this is a bad version of WoW.  That's all there is to the game.  How is that sophisticated?

If anything I'd expect 12 year olds to be the only ones that would be amused by the latest crazy NPC they come accross saying goofy things.

Sounds like those guys are pretty busy this new year. It also seems they have some nice stuff planned early on for players. Looking good devs are on the ball not dropping it.

I checked out all the images on high setting and I can tell you 100% that my game looks better than all of them.  I did mess around with my Nvidia settings to force some settings etc.  The pictures on that link look like KOTOR not SWTOR.  I agree with a previous post about the graphics looking exactly the same, I am pretty sure my in game play quality is the same as the screenshots shown in this article.

Im sorry that others feel disappointed but personally im having a blast. Is it polished as Wow. No. Does it have more then its share of bugs and issues. Yes. Does it lack certain features that should be standard on mmos at this point. Probably. However I still find it a fun and enjoyable game that I can only think will get better. If it doesnt thats fine Ill play though all 8 classes and get there stories then be done but I doubt they will let it stagnant. The game is by no means perferct and feels more like a single player game then mmo at times but for me thats fine. I played  ME, Kotor, Jade Empire, and DA I knew what to expect and I got it. I played WoW and liked it so this game seems a nice fusion of the 2. Personally I would love to see macros in the game more then anything but thats just me. I would recomend this game despite is faults which I feel have been slightly overblown but then again its understandable to wait until they have a free trial of some sort a few months down the road and test it then for yourselves.

Let me ask you this: what is so sophisticated in watching a wall of text, your only option to accept or abandon quest and no matter how many times you do the same quest, your options and results will be 100% always the same? That is what current questing in themepark MMO's offers, if you bash TOR's questing you certainly shouldn't ignore the current quest mechanics which offer a lot less.

At least SWTOR has a better cinematic presentation of the quests, it offers you to do more than just click 'ok' for a quest but instead allows you to pick your character's reactions more than you can do now in MMO questing, and your choices will lead to different results and in a number of cases even lead to different quest paths and follow up quests, definitely more so than you'll experience in current MMO questing.

This sounds like an improvement upon the current questing situation to me. People who talk TOR's questing down almost always tend to forget that, yet I've seen the piles of complaints and rants about the staleness of textbased questing in current other MMO's in other places.

TOR has created a niche of gamers. The game offers a lot too some, and none to others. My suggestion, if you enjoy TOR already. Find a large guild to play with. You will enjoy it.

I love TOR and have done EV twice already. I will keep my sub. If the numbers start to dwindle I will un-sub, untill then, I plan to enjoy every moment.

Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW.
