Griefing.. i can not find that word in my dictionary.. i shall attack everyhing that moves..
And thats why PvP gets a bad name. Greivers are a cancer in the PvP scene. It destroys the game from within.
you join a pvp game... and later you start complaining about your getting killed by pvp?
There is no such think as griefing..
AND.. most games don;t even have any penalty while your getting killed.. except for darkfall..
you are the same as the other people complaining about the grind in darkfall.. which i don;t understand..
"ow dear.. i can not compete in darkfall with the vets.."cry cry cry...
this equals..
a lev 1 char in rift for expl. can't kill a level 50.. so where is the logic thinking then?
I praise darkfall because its actually possible ( if your know what your doing) to kill a vet with a medium char.. and that's inpossible in rift for expample.. killing a lev50 with your lev25 char..
I believe another korean game, rappelz i think, had a similair pk system. Flagg for pvp and its ffa, kill non flagged people and get points that nerf xp ect.
the best part is, and im sure this all is going to lead to it, is the cash shop. look for pk point removal items for sale!!!
im assuming this will be f2p, and if so, look for all things to lead to the cash shop as in any f2p game (that isnt pay per content which is often named f2p incorrectly)
I dont understand why people post without doin there research. Iv been guilty of this in the past and only makes you appear stupid. Please in the furter, do a quick search on the subject your commenting on.

First its not me, I would never join a PvP game that had no real mechanics for stopping endless greiving, and I am sure not complaining about any grind in DF. But anyways games like DF will never be anything but a small niche poor funded game because of the cancerous playerbase it attracts. In most cases low level characters dont know what they are doing, you just dont start a game knowing what your doing. And high level greivers know exactly what they are doing, and thats killing people that dont have any real shot at killing them.
I am glad AA has a strong anti-greiving system in place(seems strong anyways). I am also glad that if some people still want to be greivers they can be, with consequences of course.

I agree.
If I want to kill someone, I am going to do it... and a little jail time isn't going to make me think twice about it.
If "griefing" hurts your feelings, don't play a game with PvP... there are carebear games aplenty.
I want to play(american) football but i dont want to have to tackle anyone or have anyone tackle me.
I just want to run aorund with my balla nd throw it when i choose
You cant go and tackle someone before the ball is snaped. No one will tackle someone before the ball is snaped. If they choose to do so, there will be a nice stiff penalty for doing such. So in reality there is a time and place for tackling.
edit: oh and btw you cant tackle someone anyway you want to now anyways. note all the fines handed out this year.
And btw if your the QB you can run around with the ball and throw it whenever you choose, as long as you dont cross the line of scrimage.
In conclusion there are rules and regulations for everything.

Using a sport might not have been a good way to express a PvPers perspective.
For the immersion value, which all RPGers are ultimately looking for, a PvPer should have the option to engage anyone he/she wishes to.
My perspective on how the Archeage system is setup currently is one in which the penalties are governed by laws. Not by laws of a game though, more like laws of society.
Laws are good for keeping things from getting out of hand, just as laws should. But just like the laws of society, a system of PvP laws should be able to be broken, bent, and perhaps even evaded (for a time).

Ya, when i saw he used a sport analogy my eyes lit up because i knew it would be far to easy to shred it to peices since sports are governed by countless rules.
For the immersion value, which all RPGers are ultimately looking for, a PvPer should have the option to engage anyone he/she wishes to.
I agree you should be able to attack anyone. But for the sake of orderly conduct there has to be rules, and punishment for breaking rules.
My perspective on how the Archeage system is setup currently is one in which the penalties are governed by laws. Not by laws of a game though, more like laws of society.
Ill refrain from too much speculation on how AA "laws" on pvp will turn out, its still far to early to tell.
Laws are good for keeping things from getting out of hand, just as laws should. But just like the laws of society, a system of PvP laws should be able to be broken, bent, and perhaps even evaded (for a time).
again I agree, but for me the penalty for breaking such laws should be rather stiff enough to deter acts that serve no other purpose than to just piss off another player.

Forced PvP. Enough said. It's one style of game I won't participate in no matter how good the game is otherwise. Been there done that and have the scars and losses to prove it. Sad though, as the game looks to be pretty good. Maybe we will get lucky and they will make a server specifically for people that do not wish forced PvP.
I won't go into any details about Pking, as it's all been said before. I just keep hoping the korean developers will see the concerns and actually make changes. Gotta say, there are some great games out there that I have really enjoyed, till the griefing hits. Simple solution, make another server. Keep both types of players. Win/Win.
Oh and just because someone does not like forced PvP does not make them a carebear. It makes them a person that does not need headaches in their online gaming entertainment hours. Have enough of them in RL.

I fear that if they splitt this game into pve and pvp servers, you will get meaningless changes to PVP based on the pve server feedback: "We need this to PVE, and nerf this in PVP" (Just as when pvp'ers cry on the forums of typical PVE games, "WAAWAAAWAAA no world pvp, no whatever..")

I'm guessing you play MMOs alone.
You see, in a good PvP MMOs (with good mechanics), only guildless and solo players get "griefed". If you don't want this to happen, you make friends, or join a guild. That will make the griefer think twice. And if he also has a guild, then it will end up in a Guild war. At the end of the war, you may lose or win, but needless to remind this is a game. Just like other games you can't always win.
People need to learn that in this kind of MMOs, socializing is your best weapon. This is not another theme park where you don't give a fuck about others because you don't need them.

I am one of the biggest advocats for "multiplayer" in MMO's. But you cant be scared to go out in the world and do something alone. If you cant leave the town w/o a group. Well then theres a major design flaw. That doesnt mean you should be able to go to enemy territory and be safe, or the no mans land and be safe. You shouldnt have to watch you tail from greivers right outside the gates.

Except that realistically you'll never be "griefed" at every corner of the street. That's what the ones who dislike Open PvP would like others to believe, but it's not true.
It's true that it works better in Korea due to their respectful culture and the fact they are not entirely anonymous (KSSN), but even so, griefers only represent a small portion of a server's population if the game has the right mechanics.
In the case of ArcheAge, aside from the jail system, the ones who committed too many crimes will be expelled from their factions. That will make the game overall harder for them. You really think many people will waste their time griefing others with such a threat above their heads? NO.
The issue here is that most people can't take a loss and usually exagerates. They get killed once, perhaps twice, and directly consider it "griefing". Come on...
So all servers is open PvP then . Not a game I would play then.
While all I care about is pvp, I understand that some play for other reasons. From what i've read, I get the picture that you will have a lot of pve on the non pvp servers...but still areas that are more pvp. Then the pvp servers will follow more the L2 type of set up where you can kill anywhere, but with consequences.

You dont have to bash and insult people for disagreeing, thats just immature.Yet I agree that people who dont like the idea of open PVP really should look for another place to stay as there is looooooads of games without any open pvp.
Sandbox is freedom, a restriction made that hinders the sandbox is in my opinion something that shouldnt exist in a true sandbox. Yet ofc it has to have some consequences otherwise people will go on sprees all day considering the audience of MMORPGs those days.
i believe if you kill a player that isent flaged for pvp you leave a "footprint" kinda like a finger print. the more you do this the more "footprints" you leave and they give you some sort of point. what the points are i dont know fully but if you get so many of them then a warrent for there arrest will be issued.
now how long there jail sentance is i dont know. but from what if read this system needs tweeking. theres a CHANCE to leave a footprint and you need to get like 100 points or something like that. someone did the math somewhere but if the chance is 50% you could kill 199 people and not suffer a penelty. also i believe you as the person they killed needs to report them if they do leave a footprint. so how many will actualy report that person. so the number goes up on how many people you can PK and not suffer a penelty.
now i thought i read somewhere that you yourself could issue a bounty on thehead of the person that pked you. but like i said, not alot of info on it yet. not that iv seen anyway. hope that helped. also check out some fan sites for info.
Haven't read all topic so don't know if that was corrected, so I will do it now.
Murder and afaik stealing, and similar unlawful acts will leave footprints AND MULTIPLE footprints. I heard that in some cases up to 30 even (propably less at average though) so no it won't be 199 ppl. More like 5 will be enough.
+ killing people too often from for example your faction might get you perma excluded from p
faction and have permanetn afaik status of 'pirate' with guards attacking you and stuff
Besides until system is finished there is no telling and XLGames will propably tweak it using feedback and data-mining from beta.
Still this is PvP game, while it will offer more "protection" from pvp than games like DFO it will not be safe heaven like Swtor.
I like real mmo's, and i feel the excitement is missing with the new aged games. They feel sloppy, confined, lack of excitement, lack of crafting, and a lack of realism (in a sense).
Carebears, troll, fanboys, hardcores, pvp, non-pvp, or what ever you fit into, these newer games are just dull for one or more of these players. All the argueing, bickering, flames, and whines the mmo games have been twisted and adjusted to feel no more than playing a console game now. Dull, no excitement, no in depth game play, lack of player content, and just feels weird.
I am mostly a crafter i love it. I like the business aspect, the time spent making good quality items, having my name branded on an item. BUT i do pvp to take away the bordum. I have played on full pvp games. And the amount of times i have been "ganked" is trivial. The pvp whine has to be the worst one yet. These pvp games arent designed for you to solo, you need back up, strategy, and help from others. Not running around with a full pack and all your currency on you. Deposite, sell, place elsewhere or you just ask for a bad time. Yeah you will be ganked, and you will gank someone at some point.
But having pvp brings excitement, the unknown, and removes the easy from mmo's. Im sure many like it easy, i understand this. Im just so sick of these games bringing bad hype.
I just want a exciting, action packed, full of player content, helping each other, explosive game for a change. Im tired of WOW, RIFT, TOR, and so many other mmo's released this day in age.
I think the most enjoyable time i had in pvp was when i played SWG. Was a lowby in Anchorhead, saw a bunch of red dots coming from up the hill. Few of us noobs got together and went after those dirty imps. Some high level, some low, and each had 1+ AT-ST. We got raped, but we kept fighting, and that battle lasted a very long time, eventualy word got out and some higher class rebels came and we beat them back. It was fun, exciting, action packed, and the outcome wasnt known.
I just want another game like this and wish you guys would come together and make opinions to have all that, but compromise so it wont be that harsh for you without trying to change the entire game for one freaking time.
Man this game sounds exciting. You mean a game where I can grief in open world again?????? OWWW how i've long to make some of you babies who I read post on this forum cry. It happened in the trash bucket game SWTOR, it happened in every other mmo to date, and will continue to happen in this game apparently. But if pvp is to hard for you guys, there is always WoW. Everyone loves some good old agreement pvp, i.e bg's,wz's, wf's, scenario's, or w/e faggy term the game tends to name it.

I love guys like you, because you're big talk until you find out games like this are suited to group/zerg mentality. Kind of like how people talked a big talk in the beginning of MO, then realised they can't survive without a massive guild, and then quit without so much as a whimper.
It's not MW3, where a K/D ratio is everything.... because you will not have a healthy one unless you hold a guild officer's pocket lining all day.

Keep acting like this and soon the whole server will be hunting you down.
That's the beauty of these kind of games. Be social and nice or feel the consequences of players punishing you for your behaviour.
Although the game do need people like you, it brings fun moments and drama. Moar pirates and murderers!

Everyone loves some good old agreement pvp, i.e bg's,wz's, wf's, scenario's, or w/e faggy term the game tends to name it.
kill you boobs later.
