Hi all,
I'm considering getting WOW and starting on one of the new North American servers that were just created. If I have about 8-10 hours on the weekend, and about 5 hours during the week. Will I have enough time to enjoy the game?
I'm a full time salaried engineer, and often work overtime, but I still want to be able to play a MMO for kicks on the side. Ive always enjoyed the warcraft series of games, and am interested in trying a MMO out.
Could you please give me some advice if this WOW would be a good game for someone casual like me?
thanks
jeff

Hi Jeff!
yes I'd say thats plenty of time to enjoy the game. I know alot of people who play and just try to lvl up as fast as they can, but It's not as fun if you just rush through.
My first character was a dwarf hunter, I got him to level 32 in about two months of gaming where I played about 12 hours a week. (Your first character always takes the most time to lvl when you are just getting familiar with the game)
Some of my friends from school joined a new server so i started an undead rogue, I play approx. 15 hours a week and It has taken me about 1 1/4 months to reach lvl 38.
u can definately have alot of fun with this game just taking your time, If you decide to buy WoW im sure u'll have a good time.
Now I need to find a free trial
jeff
Haha you have so much time to enjoy WOW i have found that even when i have 30 mins to quickly log on i can get enough done that im happy with my game play times but normally i put 4-5 hours a day so if you can handle sparring 10 hours a week you can lvl maybe once a week once past lvl 50
just dont ever play to long my friends comp was blown out because he played for litteraly 40 hours straight hes a lil of a addict
WoW is definitely the best MMORPG when it comes to casual gaming and the best thing is that it actually becomes even better if played casual. The game is great fun but what I hear is that if you play it too much, you will level too quickly. I mean there is nothing speaking against having multiple max level characters but of course at the endgame there is not as much to do and to explore than there is for lower level characters.
Therefore, the slower you level the longer you will be able to fully enjoy WoW.
The only time when you will need more than an hour of gametime is when you do instance dungeons with a group. For these occasions you should have a couple of hours undisturbed time. Everything else can be done in slices of 30 minutes.
I'm in a very similar situation. I think you'll love WoW until you get to LVL 60 (the level cap). From there, you'll be stuck having to do (mostly) long instances that will consume so much time at a stretch that you might find yourself unable to commit that much continuous time. Unfortunately, most of the really good gear is buried in instances that take about 4-5 hours to play (yes, I know that some guilds with hardcore players might be able to do them faster). PVP ranks are based upon your stats in comparison to other players, so you will have little chance to compete against those who play WoW like a full-time job.
I've largely shelved my 60 and have been levelling 6 alts. Once they get to 60, I'll hope for shorter instances (like Dire Maul) or an expansion to raise the level cap.
To be blunt, you will be fine. WoW is a game designed specifically and completely at a casual-play style. When you can level to the highest level in less than a month through very casual play, the game isn't designed to played "hardcore", or you'd be flying through it in days.
Enjoy the game. As with everything else, it should be tried, if only so you can form your own opinions about it. But then, I'd say that about most MMORPGs -- try 'em, or play enough MMORPGs to know what you like and then look for games that cater to that style.
Hello Jeff,
Well I'd say the ratio of you enjoying WOW is 2/3 = MC - 0.9999,
multiply that by your 8 hours of gameplay on the weekends and you should come up with your answer.
(8c - xy = 69 + u) is to ____________ as ___________ is to "just try out the game man"
There are things causal plays can get and not. 5 hours a day of actual progress, should be enough to get to 60, but maybe in 1-2 months. Downside, you won't be equipped for your level, also game is soley about PVP for everything, PVE or PVP server your going to need to be hardcore for that.
http://www.narutofan.com go there for Naruto episodes!!
To answer the question, yup. I work fulltime also, as do most of my guild members.
Take the first weekend to learn the game and the game mechanics, then slowly start your leveling. Test out all the low level characters to see which best suits your needs.
