Id say they are only SLIGHTLY better than the original graphics
The worse thing is they require a GIANT leap in system requirements to play smoothly...I don't get it, the graphics are only slightly better yet require a big leap in system requirements to play better ...Turbine needs to tweak their code or maybe its the upping to DirectX9, who knows, all I know is its slow...
AC:DM could run on a Pentium 1 166mmx, 64mb, Voodoo 12mb
AC:TOD people are having problems running smoothly on 3.2ghz, 1gb of ram latest video cards
And the games look almost identical...the trees are nicer and some of the ground textures are cleaner but thats about it
In my opinion, the trees used to look very ugly. The graphics update made them look beautiful. Next patch, they are updating water and particle effects, so the graphics will probably look even more different.

Got any links where it says that? I've heard they are releasing an even higher res texture pack but even on high settings for this game on modern computers you get some serious stutter/lag graphic issues
The new virindi masks look pretty damn sweet but everything else looks the same to me (also forgot the trees, they look better but still nothing too great)

Turbine has a problem with coding these days I guess. AC1 performed and looked awesome even on my first computer which was a 500mhz Pentium with a Voodoo 3. Now they just have the looks awesome part in AC2 and AC1 without decent performance. I'm not sure if it's Turbine's problem or just the state of computers and DirectX and crap these days. I'd guess it's Turbines problem seeing how engines used in Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 are near flawless.
