Firefox vs IE

I think Firefox is MUCH better than IE. It loads sites faster, its more convinient, its the best browser i think.

    I used IE...

Like 5 years ago. And I WAS using FF up until a few days ago when it decided to lame out on me and dump all my bookmarks. ::::16:: And now, I'm using Opera. So I won't vote. :P

Voted for Firefox, cause I just simply hate IE for many reasons.
I'm using Opera right now though, and I'm quite satisfied with it. ::::20::

I'm using Firefox, I simply think its better cause I like the options and the security setting they have on it. It also makes loading websites a lot faster. I voted Firefox.

Actually I prefer Opera and if they ever finally implement Rich Text Editting into it then I will probably go back too it. Its the safest browser on the net and suits my browsing style perfectly.

Never used Opera, Maybe I'll give it a try. And if I'm correct arent Firefox and Opera both made my Apple? So you can also phrase this as Microsoft's Browsers Vs. Apple's Browsers. Thats if I'm correct.

Umm, no. Opera is made by Opera. Firefox is based off the mozilla engine which was the netscape engine that went public. So I don't see how apple has any ties too it.

I think the developers of both browsers have eaten apples... Maybe that's the correlation?

    :)

I think IE is easier to use so it's more for newer ppl but if you have the basic skills down go ahead and switch to firefox. I just did and I can see a big diff. Not as many pop-ups either.

Yeah, there are actually a few webapps Firefox just don't handle well, or as well. But that mostly Flash/shockwave stuff so it doesn't really matter.

FF is much safer, faster browsing/dling, better design and it's implemented Pop-up blocker is a lot better.

I voted for Firefox. No doubt Firefox is far superior to IE. Like posters said, it loads webpages faster, it has pop-up blocker, it has faster downloading and it has decent themes. However, it has some script issues with some programmes, but it's my favourite browser at the moment

Actually Opera is made by the W3 organization. ::::28::

I use FF mostly, but I have to use IE and Netscape for web development since FF is still considered "non-standard" and does not function properly with certain scripts.

errr, what do you know that I don't?

    History

Opera started out as a research project in Norway's largest telecom company, Telenor, in 1994, and branched out into an independent development company named Opera Software ASA in 1995. Opera Software develops the Opera Web browser, a high-quality, multi-platform product for a wide range of platforms, operating systems and embedded Internet products.

Ahh, let me pull my foot out of my mouth. ::::02::

Opera is actually the only browser that has been partnered and endorsed by the W3C. Been a while since I took my Internet history class.

Ahhhh, ok. I was wondering. Thats actually interesting too because there are a few area's opera is still in the stone-age on for tag support that really irk me as a developer. But they have gotten alot better about it lately.

    Thanks for that tidbit dek!

If it only supported Rich Text Editting, which they keep promising its going too and haven't gotten it in yet.

Yeah, if you're a IE noob then sure, firefox is better.

It's Active X and MicroSnot only features that FireFox has a problem with. it does Flash/Shockwave/Java just as good as anything. But when you use Frontpage to create a site and use the fancy doo dads like moving words, sliding in text and pictures, fade ins and outs etc, they don't show well if at all in FF. It's because all those fancy doo dads are MicroSnot only code, not open standards, designed to work with IE only.

I used Opera years ago, but there were too many sites that it din't display for me back then, so I ditched it to IE for awhile, and been on the FireFox bandwagon ever since they went public and I knew it wasn't AOL Browser Redux...... I like FF..... loads faster, loads sites faster, everybody has mentioned all the good stuff. Tabbed browsing rocks, the extensions you can add are amazing. Since there are still sites that FF can't display perfectly, I have an extension that with 1 click I can load that page in IE. I have an Update XP option just a click away, loads IE for updates, since it's active x, and you HAVE to use it there. And I don't know where I'd be with my Homeland Security Threat Indicator(chuckle) in my status bar (did you know we were at Yellow/Elevated at the moment?), or my ForcastFox showing me the current and next 3 days worth of weather (living in the Ozarks, we get all kinds of fun stuff that can happen anytime, nice to be aware).

So..... short story long...... I voted FireFox.......::::28:: ::=^)::
