SWTOR commits a mortal sin: The beginning of the end.

As much as I love SWTOR, the recent patch that caused a Republican Spawn point to not be a safe zone as well as turret farming, is causing Imperials to farm/exploit 1k valor per minute.

At this point, unless they roll back valor, the PvP servers are doomed as players leave the Republic for the Imperial Side and/or other servers, i.e. non PvP.

All players on the Republic side who earned their valor the old proper way without exploits are now screwed.

Vey sad...as I thought Bioware was a competent game company...they are not.

Isn't Bioware split into two different camps?

Bioware in Austin and Bioware in Canada?  Someone told me that the Canada branch does all the good stuff, like Mass Effect.  And Austin does all the crappy games, like SWTOR.  Something tells me that these two need to break apart.

This is clearly an unintended issue that Bioware will fix soon. It is not the end of the world. Things like this happen in MMOs... especially new ones.

Whether or not you choose to quit because of it is up to you. I will be giving them the chance to fix the problem before I get too upset about it.

Where'd you get the 1k valor per minute number?

I'd say where I think you got it from, but that would be kind of rude.

    They can fix it

But who said the damage will be covered?

Right now there are a zerg of empire players on republic spawn points on almost all servers

Now empire will sit with a horde of battlemasters while republic will be even more unbalanced compared to empire

I'd wait a bit longer for the smoke to clear, if I was you, OP.

There's some outrageous claims being made atm, and some of them (e.g. turret farming) are totally false. PVP'ers can be very excitable.. so a lot of people are going nuclear with only half the facts.

Also, how is it cheating to kill members of the opposite faction in a world PvP zone?

Seems like that is the whole loin of PvP. If you don't want to be killed, don't PvP.

They actually have 4 branches now I believe.

Either way, Austin was founded SPECIFICALLY for the MMORPG.

Except in hopes that they make a ME MMO based off the aftermath of ME3 and the Austin BW would have some valuable expertise in MMO design.  One can dream right?  Wish they did their MMO in the ME setting as I find it a hell of a lot more intresting than SWTOR and would make a fantasic basis for an MMO.

But if not, then yeah I agree they should split before EA corrupts what good the Canada BW team has left.

They were able to kill the 2 turrets that had like...1 mil hp each? :O

In my server the republics camp near the turret and were able to push them out easilly with the turrets help o.o

Our faction however seems to be on a 1:3 ratio and even if all of the imperials tried to zerg us in base, the cannons could take them all out o.o

Seems like that is the whole loin of PvP. If you don't want to be killed, don't PvP.

Because it is a design flaw. The zone is supposed to be protected so that the players can buff and prepare for battle.

The more pertinent analogy would be, if you don't want to play unpolished, rushed games with PvP, don't play SWTOR.

    Spawn camping =/= turret farming

Turrets give little to no valour. Read a broader selection of posts, and you will see what the REAL problems are.

Im sure it is the beginning of the end all one millon subs that this game supposedly has are gonna quit over this pvp debacle even though over half the servers are pve the game is going to go down as the worst mmo in history......

Am I'm being over dramatic just wondering if I was following suit?

If the zone is "supposed to be protected" why are the turrets there????

They should have made the turrets have an aoe instant kill abilities. One shot and boom, all of those imperials are gone.

  • rygard49rygard49 Member UncommonPosts: 973

I thought they had put diminishing returns on the kills, is that false? From what I read earlier the massive turret bug just was a one click and instant respawn type of thing, and that was hotfixed. I haven't been home to play yet today, so someone who's had in game experience will have to enlighten me if I'm incorrect.

All that shows is a ton of IMPs, it doesn't prove any exploits are going on. All it really shows is a safe zone is needed at spawn points..

Do the imperials doing the camping actually enjoy that?

If there was nothing gained from it, no rewards whatsoever, would they still be there?

It gets rid of the grind, so enjoyment is not a factor in staying.
Also, nope they would not stay there. No one would.

Speaking of grind, didn't they double the prices on all pvp gear in this patch?

why was it doubled if this is true?  was it too cheap? or a way to get people to 'grind' for longer?

Hmm not sure about that many probably stay for the griefing factor, happened all the time in SWG pre-cu or cu when you got nothing but the lawls, that was the only reward.

I have no idea why it was done. I just know that when I logged in with my level 35 Operative, the level 40 pvp gear was at least doubled in price. Luckily I've already bought most of it to when I reach level 40 but still.

It was fairly cheap before, when I bought my first set I was taken back that I had more than enough coms (at level 20) to buy a full set.

    @OP: Probably true.

No mmo in history has ever recovered from a patch that added imbalance. They probably won't fix it and just let the game slowly die. Actually, has any other mmo ever had a patch that imbalanced pvp? This is probably a first. MMO's throughout history have always had perfect patches which do nothing but improve the game - I've never heard of something so out of the ordinary as this - something we've seen from history shut down game after game after game......

Or you are overstating things a bit.
