I've always enjoyed these little perks or titles in this case.
Not sure if the timing on this is priceless.. or just plain sad.

I seem to recall SWG giving glowing Jedi when they changed ths system.

Wow. If you hadn't posted the link I would've never believed you. This just leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth. It's alright to give veterans rewards but to give them out to people for subing past the first month is a bit much.
Is it any sadder than making an account to bitch about a video game?

I'm a bit surprised people are taking this negatively? I've been at this site for a long time and this just seems like unwarranted hatred...more so then usual. This isn't even an issue and yet people are pissed Bioware is just giving a minor thank you for subbing?
I could careless if people are bashing them for ignoring issues or not fixing any other number of bugs in the game but come on.

Been here since 03 and the amount of hatred that has come down upon SWTOR seems to be the greatest I have ever seen. It really feels like pure hatred and disdain for the game to the point it feels sickening. No game, no matter how sucky it is deserves that.
They set themselves up for it.
SWG fans were telling each other this would be a sandbox, more specifically PRE CU code, back in 06. For yrs they held out hope. You can go back to the TOR general forums, on this site, back a couple yrs ago to see they were holding out hope even then about sandbox mechanics.
It has manifested itself in a number of daily complainers here. Throw in a few GW2/WoW/whatever, and although it doesnt surprise me it is happening, it does surprise me that it is being allowed to continue since most are breaking the TOS here on MMORPG.com.

I have to agree. The amount of mindless hate in here is really turning me off of this site as a whole.

Yes there is alot of hatred generated toward SW:TOR.
Some of it is from those that developed a hatred of SWG with either the CU and NGE and have been looking forward to a new Star Wars game. Only to find that mechanics wise it is everything they left SWG because of.
Some of it is from the SWG fans that felt that there was no competion between the two games and since they feel that Electronic Arts because of the launch of SW:TOR caused SWG to shut down have developed a hatred of SW:TOR.
Others, who have been bombarded with claims of how great SW:TOR was before it launched, have a great enjoyment pointing out any signs of SW:TOR having problems.
While personally I feel that this is more hype from the marketing group at EA, potentially to stem a subscription bleed, I also see no inherent reason to be critical of the program.
I will say that if this were being implemented in WoW, those that use timecards would be granted the perk immediately and all others after their first billing clears.
I am very neutral on if this is good or bad since badges and titles do not give the players an advantage in the game. If is had given an advantage, such as the already mentioned Elder Jedi entitlement in SWG I would feel that there is a problem with what EA is doing here in SW:TOR.
The Elder title was given as a small consolation for those who had ground their jedi pre-NGE. Not at all the same thing. The founder title should be given to all that were there at launch and played the first month or to none at all.
All these SWTOR haters really need to jump back in time and pay attention to what happened with Aion. Comparatively, this is nothing.
Also, complaining about a founder's reward? rly? srsly? Your hatred shines through your teeth.
We really need separate forums for every newly launched game. There can be the anti-<MMO> one and there can be the 'what general discussion should be' one. All the lamenting can happen together where each can find solace in like minded can't-move-on-ers leaving the rest of us to actually move forward and discuss meaningful and relevant topics.

You left out the WoW fans who are dedicated and can't stand another game having _any_ success. These are the new MMO-ers who grew up on WoW, they also tend to think every MMO feature ever made is an IP of Blizzard's WoW.
You also left out the loyal fans of other games who feel threatened by any range of new MMO as it's likely to take <insert random amount> of players from it's already 'too low' populace. These players must see every MMO other than 'their' MMO' fail as it justifies the existence of their MMO.
Then there's the just plain lazy and stubborn who don't want to 'do it all over again' in a new game. This group is almost identical to the two above.

Those rewards are common for mmorpg, i think rift had em aion has them for sure just worse they give cool stuff out.eq2 has em. Its just common practise now days.
Im no swtor fan but that title aint to help keep subs they are a reward to those that want to keep the sub.
I'm surprised anyone would think a person would resub simply for a title and badge. WHat good does that do a person who has problems with the actual game?
Anyway, I find it funny people are saying things like "fix the game"! Considering how fast they've fixed things like exploits and the issues that were going on yesterday.

MMO players will sub for these sorts of things all the time. The MMO playerbase is an interesting bunch for sure - I have known people to spend loads (be it in-game currency, RL money, time or a combination of thsoe 3) on Vanity gear, titles, pets, mounts etc.

You are missing the point. People aren't really mocking SWTOR with these posts, they are really expressing their derision on those who would actually sub or stay subbed just because they wanted the founders title/badge.
I have to confess, for just a moment I considered opening up my copy of SWTOR and joining the game in order to get it. But I managed to resist the urge and will still wait a while until the game matures a bit more.
