Anyone notice the graphics, everything is static like WoW/SWTOR.
why cant they make it like Tabula Rasa or Age of Conan... come on its 2012!
By the way im not talking about the Dynamic Events, im talking about the game graphics, the envinronment, atmosphere and sound. (Immersion)

I got the complete opposit. The sound is actually pretty awesome and I have noticed things moving around me. Not sure what you have been watching but I didn't get that impression from watching the vidoes.

I think GW2 will be mixed.. I think the events will be the main drive of where you'll see activity, while in some videos you do see monsters just hanging out.
maybe you need to watch more of the videos, especially of the cities. I don't find it static at all.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
Haven't you heard? Static worlds are required for an MMO to be next-gen.
I Iike the Fireland Raid (WoW) Cool Fire and Boss Animation.
and Rift's Defiant Newbie zone Boss Invasion (the Sky looks super real).
From a lot of the videos I've watched the world is quite impressive in it's life, sound and visuals. Lots of atmospheric chatter in cities and outdoorsy sounds in the world. The grass moves when you go through it, trees move from wind, there are critters, moving clouds, changing day and night cycle, snow, rain, thunder and lightning and lively NPC's that chatter and interact with you; regardless of how important or unimportant they are within your own personal story or the world at large.
I feel the complete opposite from the OP, GW2's world looks lively and entertaining.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.
P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.
Same here. To add to that I noticed a lot of bubbles and debree moving through the water when players were underwater. Some of the videos even showed players looking off in the distances and I could still see things happening while knowing it isn't just background art (TOR) but things players could go interact with. To be fair I decided to go watch some videos on youtube to see if maybe the OP just watched a bad video and I did see some of the earlier ones that didn't do the best job, but even then they still had good environmental immersion to me. I never played Tabula Rasa so maybe that game did it worlds better but to me GW2 doesn't look static at all in comparison to the many MMO's I have played.

You need to clarify more, as I have played AoC and it is still unclear what you mean. Have you watched videos of the, direct sound feed of GW2, where you can hear ambient sounds and NPCs carrying on conversations? I never heard that in AoC, so you can't mean that.
Environment... You mean things like godrays? This simply isn't clear. Sparkfly Fen in GW2 is full of little motes that float about the character and environment and lend a great deal of atmosphere. The Black Citadel is choking in acrid smoke.
The only thing I can imagine is that you don't like the art style, which is fair but has nothing to do with staticnes, so perhaps you can come up with something specific.
GW2 seems pretty alive, but I have to agree, Tabula Rasa had the best feeling of the living world ..I think it's because of the ongoing war feel and I think they handled extremely well the atmosphere (fight between NPCs, the dropships flying in and out all the time, the bombing, cannons, stalkers hitting the ground, squads patrolling, control point invasions..)...too bad it's closed now
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

You've obviously never played or watched footage of GW2 o_O
The world is teeming with life.
One of my favorites is in the Charr region, outside of the black citadel. There are messengers running between outposts, ranchers farming and complaining about their cattle, cubs playing, recruits shittalking each other. It's awesome.
No worries Star I gave just little samples on what he missed

Yah, I saw some links up there :P
Thanks ;D
I can't agree. The sounds are amazing (there is a video that explains how they make different sounds for a mill and then they randomize the sequence), the city feels alive for the first time in an MMO with many NPCs around doing routines etc.
I swear to god, before anyone else replies to this thread, you need to read #4 of this article: http://www.cracked.com/article_18861_5-internet-life-lessons-parents-need-to-start-teaching-kids.html
Don't feed the trolls! Just...don't...do it. Nothing productive can come of it. If, after reading this, you do decide to grace this thread with a legitimate response, I will place poisonous spiders under your bedsheets! Do not underestimate me.
but.. when talking about static im pretty interested in how the bosses of gw2 will act..
i saw several videos of like 5-6 bosses and they all seems to stay more or less static on one point of the event-field. for example at gc2011 you could see a big dragon which was also flying in the air for some seconds.. but at least he also stayed at the same point and wasnt moving around..
One thing to consider is glitches and lag.
I'd be stoked about it either way, I did wish they moved around the map, but I'm sure it was for the better.

the block option is a wonderful thing for people who have no desire to even try to fake being serious.
Clearly a troll attempt. How could anyone fall for it?
+1
People like the Op just get on my block list, love that feature btw mmorpg.com
those videos of guild wars 2 city life +1. First I have seen several of them and regardless of the ops criticism watching the interaction in those city scopes is impressive.
That's an awesome link and words to live by!
