Share Different PvP Builds

drakes821drakes821 Member UncommonPosts: 535

I was just wondering if any player wouldn't mind sharing their PvP builds that aren't just the generic "thurstar-khurite(sp?)" 2 hand great sword fighter.

Currently I am expermenting with a high dex, decent con Veela fighter and I was just wondering if anyone else is have some luck with unothodox PvP builds.

There are no other builds if you don't want to die. That's the problems with MO, there are endless possibilities...but only one choice in the end. It's a design flaw.

Exactly the truth.  I actually tried a hi dex veela melee with thievery and I would get wtf pwned by thur/khur but then beat the same people on my thur/khur.  Thur/Khur has the best stats why would anyone go with anything else in melee.

I disagree there are multiple different viable builds. The generic build I listed is just the easiest to play and 95% of the population doesn't even experment with anything else so they all just assume that its only way too go for PvP.

Anyway back to the topic if my veela fighter doesn't work out I will probably just go stout so I'll sacrifice some DEX for health, STR, and CON. That will make me a bit of an even fighter. Then if that doesn't work I can go the hybrid route which is turning out to be pretty good if you figure out how to play them.

When you did veela fighter what weapon did you use? I'm leaning toward spears as I could just close and gets some hits then run away quickly.

    [mod edit]

If you want an unorthodox pvp build I would actually suggest maxing out creature control along with your favorite pvp weapon.  Have a second character dedicated to being a creature taming so you don't use up those skill points on your pvp character.  You can get a direwolf that will hit for 50+ and probably get in several hits before they get killed.

With a pet your essentially 2 different targets and you can do around 1.7 times the damage as you normally would without a pet.I highly suggest you make your pet attack a key bind and press it often. Sometimes pets will stop attack before your victem dies, small bug.

Alternatively you can go with a campoden instead of a direwolf.  They won't do as much damage but they have a lot more hitpoints.  They can essentially tank for you.

Pet tanking usually pairs well with short swords or magic.  When you get into archery or polearms you have the possibility of hitting your own pet which is a pain in the ass.

A bonuses a pet gives you will more than make up for the lose of skill points from creature control.  One versus one you'll basically always win with a decent pvp/creaturecontrol based character.

for a warrior with archery your only real choice is thur-khurite

for a warrior your choices are thursar-khurite, khurite-khurite and veelan-veelan

for a hybrid your choices are same as above

    for a mage you choices are sheevra-sheevra, sheevra-veelan, veelan-veelan, khurite-khurite.

for anything else you can pretty much choose anything.

All i would go with being stout as a weight, these are all 100% viable races for those proffessions which work effectively. You could experiment with other races alterting their speed etc with weight.

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

Hmm I never thought of making a creature controller...that might be fun. Is there a way to store a stockpile of creatures or would I have to go out and tame a new one each time it dies?

    @deathshroud

Thanks for the input, yeah the weight system is totally new to me (I just came back to the game after having been unsubed for about a year) so I definitely need to mess around with that more.

You can only have one pet out at a time, and in order pull out a new pet, you must be near a stable and talk to the stable master.  Every major town has a stable.

You'll have to either buy your pets, or have an alt creature tamer to gather all the pets for you.  Your alt would have to go to the stable and turn the pets into a pet ticket, and then give you the pet ticket so you can get that pet out of the stable.

FYI, there are ways for players to change there stats past there racial limits.  Its sort of a wierd alchemical formula, but no one in game has seemed to find it yet.

Interesting...thanks for the info. I already have a bucher whos working on taming so I can use him as my alt I suppose.

So I looked at some videos and I'm really interested in playing a high dex mage...are the viable in small scale pvp and just soloing PKing? Or are they more just support in larger fights?

You have to be careful on these forums.  It's full of trolls.  If you want to know how to sort out the trolls from the regular forum users just look click on there username and review there post history.  If there post history is entirely comprised of posts bashing mortal online then they are a troll.  These forums have several users like this.

Agreed. I would also suggest checking their posting history for positive only MO praising and logic contradicting posts. If such are found to be the majority of the persons posting history, that person is a fanboy and should be avoided. These forums have several users like that.

On topic however, people report back after you are finished testing around, I am most curious what other viable combinations there are. Last time I played I had experince of very few available options for melee, the thur-khur with 2h dominating them all.

Before trying that have in mind that pets are bugged forever and SV either is unable to fix them either they dont give a rats ass. When you send your pet to attack opponents double taping backwards while targeting your pet which leads to reset your pet. Now if you repeat commanding your pet to attack and your opponent will repeat the reset exploit most likely your pet will lose his loyalty (dunno if its a bug or intended to be that way) and it will stop responding in your commands.

I would go with Deathshrouds suggestion on the regular builds since i ve tried some different anorthodox combinations and most of them where epic fails. The best possible combination is Thursar, Thursar- Khurite, Khurite 23 years old and that is if you dont wanna suffer from serious disadvantages against all the other fighters that using the flavour of the month build. I m currently using a Thursat,Thursar/Khurite,Khurite 30 years old (stout)  as my melee fighter (cba everytime a bright developer from SV decides to tweak a bit attributes and how they apply in your game stats to reroll from scratch) and in some encounters i found that i suffer a bit from the -2 points in dexterity but tbh i cant tell for sure if it does make a difference actually or its just my idea.

In any case the prediction is totaly screwd and since pvp nowdays feels like keep on spanking untill someone dies, the attributes you need to focus on is Strength, Constitution, Dexterity.

Especially trolls that like to miss inform, like the guy that said there are 20k subscribers to MO.

But yeah there are not many combos.  Try being a Hueargar warrior.  I mostly agree with Deathshroud.

You're missing the kallard-thursar max-height, max damage bonus build.  It's much slower, but massive damage and HP.  Great choice for mounted archer  - 119 str bows are nasty.  You will be easily outrun by the other builds, so if you lose your horse you need to play conservatively.  Give them a nasty axe or mace and you will 2-3 shot people.  I've never played it but I've wanted to try it.

You can also do a max-bow-damage dwarf build for pure mounted archer (121 str when stout) but off your horse it would be rough.

For crafters I like sheevra the best.  You can get higher int bonus with dwarves, but sheevra can hit 100 int and also have very good dex.  I find it much more convenient to have the extra speed over the free skillpoint.

The max build speed is veela-veela lean (125 dex).  This is the best pure mage because anything less and you can get fucked up by 125 dex stickyback fighter builds, which are viable.  The amount of strength for the stickyback build depends on the weapon you use...  access to cronite weapons is very important for that build.

    kallard-thursar ubplayable

    -u very slow

-use axe bad idea(yes u have big damage, but alot handle hit and   broken pridiction and very fast combat movement = unusable axe)

the difference between 99 dex and 120 dex is hardly noticable really since once you are stout you get more con which also increases run speed. The main difference between escaping and getting caught is how you use the terrain, the pursuer has an advantage in that he can see were you make mistakes in the terrain and which angle he needs to run to cut you off.

I would not suggest going 125 dex mage, i would go 120 but with stout.

weapon combinations in best of list..

    polesword

1 handed great blade and shield

    great sword

    spear and shield

1 handed great blade no shield

    kallardian great axe

    spear no shield

    briar axe

there are more weapon types but they are still being perfected by aq :) the rest of the weapon combinations im not sure on but there are over 1million so its difficult to say if the best possible combination has been discovered sicne polesword are relatively new.

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

The fact that you see no problem with an entire guild changing weapon choice en masse speaks poorly of your knowledge of MMO's.

Ask yourself, why would they do that? Why do they do it more than once?

On a poosibly related note, here is an acronym for you - FOTM. Most MMO veterans will see the clear connection, and a long track record in MO.

Do you not understand that your comment reinforces the point?   WHY would a whole guild switch to one weapon type?  Oh.. that's right it's the current flavor of the month OP weapon which makes the others pointless.

In a real, well designed system whole guilds would not be switching weapons at the same time.

My whole problem with the game at this point is its all about pvp and what weapon AQ is ganking people with, and what other red guild is out there, and what arena event is not running well.

I wish they added furniture crafting(everything from chairs to lighting fixtures), large amounts of clothing recipies, added fishing boats, added player stores you can go in, added weather that affects the mood of the character. Player-made campfires,  player made arrows, Camp-building (tents), the religion system they talked about before. etc.

Maybe this game could transform from Modern Warfare into an mmoRPG.

I also realize that "Awakening" changes are long overdue also.

But maybe after all those bugs from Dawn and Awakening are worked out SV will finally add much needed fluff to this game.

There is a game that does all the minus the religion system.  It is called UO.

Yes, Ive played it.  I also know the 'vision' of MO- and so far SV has only been working on the pvp side of the vision.
