Dudes talking like he's got a EA probe up his butt or something.

If you are doing all this for 'us', the gamer, and are sincere about it, look into the camera. C3PO has more emotion....

Entirely dependent on the player's pre-disposition and the dev's continuing positive additions.

On this board?  Heh, opinion reserved.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

    Here is the difference....

WoW was a copy of MMO's before it

Swtor is a copy of MMO's before it

When WoW launched it lauched with all of the best features of the previous MMO's before it added some new stuff... and then even more additional feature later

When Swtor launched it lauched with SOME of the best features of the previous MMO's before it and is now prducing content to catch up to those that came before.

    ThereIn lies the problem

Havent you seen the movies? The space scenes are only short on-rails shooters while the main action and storylines happens on ground on different planets and locations. :P

This is true.  I mean the death star trench run is a classic example of a rail shooter.

Most of your complaints I agree with and are valid, but really?

There are 7 aliens species in the game currently, and my Chiss has the same last name as my Human.

Does it break the game to have aliens and humans with the same last name?  No.

Is this really a big deal?  I mean compare this to the other complaints, allowing people to get away with exploits, or them having removed things that were in beta... This seems like a tiny problem by compare, if its even a problem at all...

They wanted to do something that rewards repaly value for + game style play, like Heirlooms in WoW.  This is their idea of that.

That's what I thought too. He seems both scared and stressed up.

The pressure over their office must be insane.

Watch it again, please.  Is it me, or does he look nervous?

He looks scared, under stress and worried all at once.  You can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice.  I think the rushed this video to stave off people cancelling.

I'm not expert, but were they trolling us with hi-Rez textures in that video?
  • TerranahTerranah Member UncommonPosts: 3,575

The things I really wanted were not in that video.  I am disheartened.

I probably have one more month to go.  Gonna hit max level, mess around a bit, maybe help out my guildies who have a bad case of altitis and then that's it.

    Agreed.

He really seemed to down play that customers were citing how theses features are available in Older MMORPG games, and that is why they were asking for them.

I do hope they are concerned, and they are taking customers disatsifaction seriously.

Ideally, they will work harder to persent quality improvements, instead of trying to get by with half hearted improvements and fixes.

Though shalt not release a new MMO until it has every single feature put into every single MMO in history ever.

This will be the March Update, so we dont need to wait ¨months¨. And the free months is over and guess what?, didnt notice any population drop in the game.

Misunderstanding. This is about the Legacy System saying additional Character Creation content will be unlocked. So I will say Teala is asking about new "alien" races to play as an option. This has nothing to do with the last name sharing. And Yes, I would like some real "aliens" to play as well.

I am still in awe when he compared MMO with FPS innovation.

James Ohlen hits back against critics, defends SWTOR's innovation.

I like BioWare, and I assume they didn't really have control over it, but...

My guess is greedy EA wanted to do the Christmas launch to boost intial sales, hence, the lack of some of the most common, modern MMO features: Guild Banks, customizeable UI, finished features (Legacy system), etc. I guess it's in their right, since they are the producer and need revenue at some point. However, it did hurt the early game reception from the playerbase (by experience, it has one of the most negative forum communities in MMO history - people demand perfection but developers don't strive for it; we were spoiled at some point it seems).

I think the launch was fairly polished..not faulting them for that, nor for prioritizing their features. Most of the absent features I can do without for now.

What I find kinda silly is that they're making a promo video hyping the ADDITION of standard MMO elements...like it's new to them or something.  That promo isn't going to get many people hyped about the game.

Yea I know what you mean. It's part of what I was getting at: they rushed ahead without many features simply to snag Christmas sales - with little competition. Now, they are acting - as you stated - as if they have some grand endeavour to take action based on community feedback. We'll see what happens, it's only been 1 month after all. I already unsubbed because of the terrible PvP itemization (RNG bags - something that should be shunned by all future MMO developers), which has been at a pinnacle point of complaints yet it hasn't been addressed. They truly are taking the easy route on trying to show their value for customers.
