those "brokers" need to read them some MMORPG.com -- the staff heres says this is a polished, great MMO.  wake up brokers !!

They also said some of the worse games released, went f2p, or just died were great games also.

TOR wont be the epic wow killer they thought it was going to be. To many unsatisfied players. It will stick around, but eventualy the numbers will drop after your overwhelming take on the game dies down a little.

Polished? havent like 4 of the 5 last patches been either exploit fixes or nerfs? Broken quest fixes? Bad crafting? Laggy wartzones for some?  Oh yeah polished, but just the eye candy not the mechanics.

Nonsense. What we need is people on this site here getting a life, stop dramaqueening as some chick on permanent PMS, and get some common sense and objective perspective.

If people don't like themepark MMO's bc they've been so stupid that they've burnt themselves out on them by overplaying them for years or bc they never liked them, then simply move on to a game you do like to play, or wait for 1 of those.

Christ, some people... the amount of disgruntled whining on this site by supposedly grown up people is embarassing sometimes -_-

What are you talking about most of the complaints are from people who wanted to play tor and either have no problem with themeparks or come from a WOW background, or are Star Wars fans who could care less what the format is. It's just a badly made game.

It has nothing to do with themeparks and everything to do with TOR being a complete trainwreck from the top down.

Of course I am serious, are you blind the game is a disaster, they may as well have kept SWG open and not bothered to even make a new game. Its just that bad. A few forum trolls cant pull that off by themselves. Its just a poorly made mmorpg. Its not just here its every forum including the SWTOR official forums, this game is a trainwreck.

    Get a grip -_-

If people seriously advocate that a game needs to FAIL, then they've lost a few of their marbles or should get a life, imho, personally I even find it pathetic and embarassing for anyone over 18 yrs old thinking like that, sorry to say.

As for the anti themepark argument, I've already seen enough posts of people pass by that claimed exactly that, an aversion of themepark MMO's, how all MMO's were fail since 2004, that the genre was ruined bc of WoW, that all MMO's of the past years disgust them, how they can't enjoy themepark MMO's anymore and have grown to despise them, people even admitting that they had an agenda of hate campaigning against certain games and companies, and how TOR needed to fail so that the themepark genre would die off. A lot of those posters being frequent critics/troll posters on this forum.

So yes, my post was pretty correct in describing those people.

And no, I'm not a themepark fan particularly, I can enjoy all kinds of MMO's, themepark MMO, sandbox MMO, CORPG, MMOFPS. But if someone enjoys a game, play it, if not, say your thing about it and then move on to a game of a type you do enjoy. The constant dramaqueening however is absurd, I feel sometimes like it's some class of 13 year olds in full puberty mode here on these forums, that's where it gets embarassing.

I do have a grip, on reality, RIFT is a thempark and doing quite nicely at the moment. Its not about Themeparks its about the obvious in front of your face. I'm not talking about forum posts but real numbers and  real subscribers and right now more people are on the way out than coming in. Even AOC lasted longer in the realm of public opinion than TOR. How many new mmorpgs are considered a failure on their own forums, honestly you cant even post on the TOR forums unless you have an account now, not exactly a reassuring statement now is it.

TOR was just a failed attempt to recapture an old forumula, pretending things are fine and well in SWTOR land is simply denial of the obvious.

EA/BW are probably in an awkward position right now, lol

I'll bet that they wish they could get all the "first month whiners" off their forums. Once the free 30 days runs out, they won't be able to post on the official forums anymore.

BUT, EA/BW need the subs, so they'll actually have to try to keep as many players as they possibly can, including the whiners, which means the forums will continue to suffer.

Caught between a rock and a hard place ?

So you're a fan(boi?) of Rift, good for you, hope you enjoy it. Hope you also accept that other people can enjoy other themepark MMO's than you do, just like there are people who despise all themepark MMO's including Rift for being a 'WoW clone'. As for forums, I think I've seen a lot of posts and threads on Rift and AOC forums where people considered those game failures, just like there have been enough forums where you can't post unless you have a registered player account. As for player activity, I don't see growth reflected in player activity tools for Rift yet, the trial 'server merging' however seems more of a sign of the opposite and seems in line with the overall decreasing line so far. As for SWTOR, we'll see in the upcoming week now that the free month has ended what player retention will be.

I like Tor. Having said that, I will go on to say I hate EA. Over the years I have seen them devour so many good game makers, such as Origin, Westwood Studios, Bioware, and  more that I wont bother to list, and without fail, every time they take over a company, they literally rape whatever franchise said company has , milk it, kill it,then move on to the next victim. I am not against them for wanting to make money, after all, that's  why people go into business, I just object to how they ruin everything they touch.

`im fairly sure what the market has been needing for 7 years now, is a game that doesnt overpromise to then underdeliver

just what SWToR did, and GW2 wont do

I admit I was one of those EA defenders.

I always though that when you screw up, it isnt your boss's fault, but yours. If Mythic, for example, made an all around horrible job with warhammer in all fronts, it was their fault, not EAs.

but as more and more proofs start to pile up that all studios under EA's wings fail to deliver on the most epic scale, Im starting to believe maybe EA investors are oo impatient for their own good, and just push things outta the door way too fast

in SWToR's case that seems exactly the issue, rushed to meet the xmas deadline when it wasnt even half-close to be done, and they killed any chance it had at long term success.

and now we'r speculating about its short term survivality

Someone somewhere if get loads of money. They publish an article and stocks go down, in two days they or EA publish another story, stocks goes up... cash in.

People are starting to hype GW2 to dangerous heights...

"Casual observation of early play" LMAO

These guys on Wall Street are a bunch of money-grabbing idiots who have no idea what they're investing in.  No wonder the market's been floundering for years.

People are starting to hype GW2 to dangerous heights...

See, the difference here is that Arenanet refuse to talk about anything that isn't already implemented and working in the game. They also refuse to give a release date until they are sure that the game is up to their high standards.

That and many people like myself have already played the game and know that what they have said has been all true so far.

That tends to instill a lot of trust in people.

I'm not arguing a single point regarding what GW2 will deliver. Perhaps it WILL "fix everything that is wrong in MMO's today".

All I'm saying is that no game is "everything to all people", and as the hype grows, expectations tend to outrun reality. Everywhere on the MMORPG forums you will see comments like "GW2 will fix that" or "GW2 won't have that issue" or "just wait for GW2", etc.. A-Net don't have to say a word, the players are driving the hype train themselves.

People look at the facts, then they fill in the blanks and build a beautifull dream in their minds. If they don't like all the "facts", they just downplay or outright ignore those they don't like. And then on launch day there's a lot of tears, because "the game didn't deliver"...

during development? people were praising SWToR after the open beta, right when for many of us the writing was all over the wall, it was a disaster. one cannot get more biodrone than that

even those that were ashamed by the quality of the game during the beta and couldnt force themselves to praise it, were excusing it

"its a beta, release will be better"

"everything will be fixed after beta"

"the internal client is 3 builds above ours and thats the one they will use comes release"

It seemed pretty split to me. A lot of people said the game wasn't ready. And the ones that did most likely hadn't progressed far enough to play all the content. I was waiting for the high level server to test the end-game, but for whatever reason they didn't follow through with the high level test server (at least not with the "combined" test group, maybe they kept it for internal testing only).

Anyways, the decision to release a game is ultimately up to those creating it. They have their own internal testers and QA team. I'm sure they knew the state of their game long before open beta had finished.

Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.

I really don't think they are. I think they're just fine. You have to understand that people on this site and  the main forums love to Sensationalize everything to serve their puposes. I haven't seen one game on this site that everyone loves and at least 10 people haven't said is going to "fail". Most of the fail post are just after the game comes out.

There are plenty of people playing the game right now who don't feel the need to forum troll and are having a good time. The only reason I'm on here and not playing is that my company pays me to sit in an office. If not, I'd be playing..lol.

If there is one good thing about this, it has temporarily slowed the WoW is going to fail because of TOR post ..ROFL
