I was looking forward to this game and I didn't actually find it that bad as an rpg . I've always liked Biowares ability for story telling . The thing is I can get a lot of whats on offer here in a single player rpg without a monthly fee . Another thing I found a bit silly but could over look was the companions , the story tells you how special you are yet you see every other person of your class running around with the same companion which does tend to kill immersion quite a lot . Even so I was willing to overlook that . I would have liked to see the two factions crossing each others paths a lot sooner in the game . Wheres the open world pvp ?
The straw that broke the camels back for me was space combat , now this for me is a really important element in the StarWars franchise . What is on offer is really a sub game that is remenisant of an early 90s style arcade shooter . How they ever thought this would be acceptable I'll never know . This should have been one of the major selling points that set StarWars apart from other mmos and they have totally failed on this front . Why they didn't look at other space combat games for inspiration is beyond me .
I wont rule going back at some point for a month to try it out again as I did enjoy elements of the game enough to want me to give it a second chance . I do however think Bioware arrogantly thought because of how big the franchise was they couldn't fail and were a little slack in thier concepts because of this . Sadly for them I think they are in for a wake up call . A lot depends one what they do in the next few months but I dont think this is a game that will make the kind of money it needs to out of subscription based buisness model to justlify the budget spent on it .
I really enjoy Biowares games generally speaking and I look forward to the single player rpgs they come up with but I can't see a Mass Effect mmo being developed now because of whats likly to happen with ToR .
This game could have been and should have been so much more given the money spent on it . Its not awful, its not that great either .

Nothing, I did not quit and neither have my friends. Space combat is fine. SWG did not have ANY space combat at launch, not that it really matters, just little factoid.
This thread was really not needed either since you can search for the "I quit" threads here and get your answer.
Move along now so people can start to hate on GW2 , Tera, and the Secret World. You can then read the I quit thread for those after they launch.
Lets be a bit realistic. There is no way we would have seen this game out before 2015 if you wanted EvE type of space exploration plus the content we currently have now. Not to mention the unrealistic increased budget because of that, added to the fact you would have extremely outdated graphics along the way.
Is the space combat lacking? Yes compared to other space focused games. This is not a game focused on roaming around in space. It's a land based MMO which happens to give you a mini game on the side. The fact you are more interested in the mini game is another matter.
As for seeing other people like you running around in what appears to be a single player RPG game dressed up as a MMO. Suspend disbelief. You know.. like you use when reading a book or watching a movie
Nothing.
In Bioware we trust!
Space combat is definitely lacking, imo, but it is also fun - as long as you don't do it ALL the time!
Get's more fun after like 30 when you start getting some equipment, so you have to balance shield regen vs firepower etc.
It's too piss easy before 30, then kind of sad the post-30 missions are similar or exactly the same with more enemies as the pre-30 missions.
Still fun though, I don't do the dailies every day, but if I'm close to a level I'll usually grab the non-grey/green space dailies and do some PvP dailies and shabam, level up.
One thing I have noticed that really helps me keep the game "fresh" when I start to get a little droned out by the leveling is respecs!
Respecs of talents are super cheap. Think they are based on your level, not frequency of use. Respeced in early 30's to heals (Jedi Sage) and then respeced back to DPS and both only cost me 575 credits or some such.
First respec at like 20 something was free, 2nd respec in high 20's was like 500.
Amazing how an alteration to your play style/rotation can freshen things up a bit.
Also, left the guild I was in because no one was ever online at the same time as me, joined up with a buddies guild (and brought the few guild mates I had who played with me) and much more fun having a lot more people online to chat with and work together on heroics and flashpoints or queue up warfronts with.
MMORPG's aren't meant to be played alone, single player. Just because you CAN progress to max level without other people, doesn't mean you should!
Totally agree it would be very difficult for it to be like EvE but it in StarWars space combat is what many people ( the majority even) is what people expect and it should never have been relegated to a mini game . Theres plenty of games other than EvE they could have looked to for inspiration even the old X-wing games . Anything but an arcade style shooter which would have looked dated in the mid 90s .
1. No high res textures.
2. Exploiters getting away with it all.
3. Double the cost of pvp gear.
4. Servers are starting to thin out and go empty.
i wont buy another time card cause bw is spreading player to thin ,they had made a good move at 1.1 if they had lowered the amount by 5 % i would have agreed but they went too far!
i'm still (mostly) hapily playing but if i were the type of person to gripe when i quit, i'd certainly mention the exploits that happened in pvp that (a) they should have found before they released the patch and (b) they should have rolled-back anyone who got battlemaster because of them.
luckily to me the fun class story, the characters, and the group quests and flashpoints are pretty good so i happily got a 90 days sub. whether or not it will last past that we will have to see.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.

Henry Rollins
No people expected it to have both which is completely out of touch with reality.
You simply would have to let go of one to have the other. I don't know about you but if this was an EvE clone dressed up in SW skin then I wouldn't even have touched the game
Boredom.
The single player story held my interest for 30 levels or so then I just zoned out and didn't find myself wanting to log in.
I am not, I didnt by a space flight mmo so I never had any expecations for it.
The graphics and art for me look great.
I love the story line and grouping up with guild mates for FP and heroics.
My server population is actually growing fleet used to have 160 people in it then 200 and last night we were just shigh of 300 people in the station
PVP is fun and so is illium I am not going to burn illium becuase of a one day bug, that just griefed people and did not actually award that much valor.
I am sorry you bought a game that was a ground based starwars game thinking that it was like x wing even though everyone new it wasnt.
But there are going to revamp the entire space flight which should be interesting.
I am looking forward to my next 6 months as I have 5-6 charactters I want to level.
Bored of these fail copypasta game mechanics.
SW:TOR didn't even try to do anything new. At least Rift tried to innovate with their talent tree system. SW:TOR is just another mindless clone.
Innovate... make a world I actually want to play in. Don't spend 4 years working on voice over and then slap it on a shitty, linear, cataclysm with lightsabers and expect to get my $15 a month. I'd rather play Skyrim.
this website's reviews
but really: poor engine, lack of interactivity, linear leveling, crafting is not important, UI is mediocre at best, yada yada its all been said countless times
The end of the stories and a lack of things to do will lead me to quit (future tense). Not there yet.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
maybe so, but RIft just wasn't fun, maybe innovative, just not fun.
Nothing yet but i simply can't bring myself to log in that often. I remember the wow days when i rushed home right after work to play and got up early before work to check auctions etc. It's not that exciting. Maybe it's not fair to blame this all on tor and maybe it's simply a case of burn-out on this type of game but still......

My brother was going to quit the game. Rushed, rushed, rushed to max level. He found the experience "boring". I asked "How can you find your class quest storyline boring?" He replied: "What are you talking about?" He spacebarred through everything. I told him that this game is a little different. It's not only about the end. It's the journey to the end that makes the game what it is. He took a pill for his ADD (thats a thing I said to him. He's not on medication), started a new character, and started watching the movies. Now, he's into it.
The game isn't for everyone (no game is), but I wonder how many people didn't really exerience it and made snap judgements. I don't mean the people on this site where 90% probably didn't play the game and bash it, but in real life.
thats because some effort went in to making swg space combat.
I think the main things that killed the game for me were
hitting difficulty walls where I had to grind mobs to level up and progress through my quests
The implants on my character would float around and through his face when he spoke.
I was a han solo in a world of other han solos with no option to look like anything but han solo. If that comes later in the game then it weasn't soon enough for me.
Half my skills didn't work unless I was kneeling. I could be kneeling in the middle of an open field, but I had to be kneeling for my skills to work. It was an odd and annoying step.
Played to about level 17 or 18 or so and was done with the game. The story and cut scenes were entertaining, but the endless kill quests got old fast.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

I liked the story. Played my IA Sniper to 50 and had fun. Felt like playing Dragon Age with a Star Wars story/skin.
However, I have no desire to play another character up to 50 and am bored of PvP... and endgame PvE is meh. Cancelled. They should have just made Kotor3. I may come back in a few months, but not likely with Tera, TSW, Archeage, Dominus, etc coming out this year!
Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.
Total Boredom. Played to level 30 and just couldn't do it anymore. So lonely in the game. Tired of quests. Cancelled 10 days into first month.
Boring as hell....
Plays just like WoW... only without the 7 years of content and polish
And I can't stand playing WoW anymore.... so why would I play the dead beat brother of WoW
Playing this game would be like playing runes of magic if you hate wow.... just silly really
