Start in Meduli. stay close to town. run inside of town when you see red players. have mortalonlinemap.com an alt-tab away untill you get familiar with the map. if you have questions and nobody will answer you in game just post them under the "player questions" on the forums. you'll find that this game gives you absolutely no in-game help and you'll have to relly on the forums for all your answers.
also start by chopping trees, mining rocks, fishing, killing pigs and butchering them, even harvesting pickables arround the city to get your stats up and make some money. once you get familiar with the game and how it works you can think about making a fighter.
expect to die a lot. never carry what you dont want or can't afford to lose.
just remeberd you probably can't post in "player questions" unless you have an active sub. you should still be able to post under Public Discussion.
definately read some of the posts in Player Guides. lots of good info there.
Try joining one of the many many guilds that are currently recruiting. They'll show you the ropes over teamspeak.

What's wrong with FE? While I found many things lacking with it, I enjoyed my time there a heck of a lot more than I did with MO. Regardless, they both cater to different tastes in MMO gaming.
