Lineage 2 F2P

akiira69akiira69 Member UncommonPosts: 615

Is it worth going back to Lineage 2 with it as F2P?

"Possibly we humans can exist without actually having to fight. But many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future, then what sort of future is it, and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"

I didn't like it. After 10 mins of gameplay, i uninstalled. I like WASD games not clicking.

You wouldn't think this is an issue but after trying Lineage II I can agree. The WASD controls are atrocious (for example, when you press W to walk forward you will walk backwards after letting go) and there's no option to disable click-to-move, it's also hard to click some NPCs and you end up running around like a headless chicken trying to interact with them.

Such a shame because the game shows great promise. :(

Out of curiosity, have you ever played Diablo or Diablo II? Or Dungeon Siege or Neverwinter Nights?

If so, then all you have to do is shift your paradigm and you will find it's no different from those games.

Agreed. I also tried it for about an hour and found the movement controls unbearable. Looking for something else to play at the moment.

....L2 was always atrocious.  Slow, boring combat.  The PvP is a joke.  Terrible graphics, even for it's time.  Everyone I knew that used to play it basically had to force themself to keep playing it.  I don't care what RvR or end-game 'features' the die-hards always preach about, those 'features' do not fix a terrible game.

OMFG troll on please... PvP a joke? Then you haven't played after 76 in older days and 85 now...

Just to show you what PvP is in Lineage II. And combat dull..? Dunno where you played, but combat is far from dull...

Yes, Graphics are medium, but keep in mind that L2 is 2 years older than WoW and most other MMOs out there!

About your WASD freaks... I prefer point-n-click over WASD because you can at least chat normally when walking/in combat. Compared to most MMO's using WASD you either must use auto-walk, or a voice-chat client.

@OP about coming back... L2 is still L2 in the basics. Up to 85 (before awakening into 4th class) it's the same game as before. But when you awaken your 4tf class, the game changes dramatically (I use this term on purpose). The 30+ classes you had are melted into 8 generic classes and the so-called 'racial differences' are close to unnoticeble :(

I awakened my Maestro as Tyr Warrior and comparing those 2 classes it's a HUGE difference and I still prefer Maestro over Tyr, though it's fun to see a dorf with so much power (finally). If I can do it all over again, I'd not take Tyr Warrior but one of the other classes (more of a personal dislike of 100% DD classes).

In all I think L2 is still doing very well and really worth to take a look into now it's free.
