Looks like a huge potential problem for any world PvE content, the massive damage these machines do will have two effects;
1.) They could make every world boss fight an easy mode task
2.) They could force the developers to make every boss fight require siege engines to win
= not so good?

depends entirely on how hard it is to accuire the siege engine...
Honestly the siege engine hardly seems to be doing much more dps than a regular player would be, considering that it looks like they have a fairly slow attack speed, and the damage dealt isn't particularly impressive either. As long as the siege engines aren't too easily aqquirable, i don't actually think that they will pose too much of a problem.
Easy fix: Disable them for PVE, that means no dmg to mobs.
But they should also have world bosses that requires siege weapons, that would be cool.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. Part of me thinks it adds just another level of depth to combat. Kind of like how artillery added to real life warfare. Another part of me sees it kind of like cheating too, I want it to be me and my companions against the boos. As long as they have some bosses inside dungeons where you can't do it and others roaming outside where you can I'm ok with it I guess.
I dont see the dps being all that high so much so that its game breaking.
You cant make seige weapons PvP only because of stuff like the kraken fight in the ocean.
If your really worried about potential exploits for land based world bosses, make the seige weapons pull hate and let the boss destroy them easy.
I think it would be cool that if certian bosses you had to use seige weapons on, that would definatly add another flavor to boss fights, that I havnt seen in an MMO. Should the word Innovation be used?

"You're either with us or against us"
A little hyperbolic... made it sound as if they were abusing some odd gameplay mechanic to exploit world bosses easily. Didn't look like the case at all. Looked like the reason why I love sandboxes...freedom to play the game the way you like and with imagination. It might be different if it was gamebreaking, but doesn't seem to be.
The more i think about it the more i like it.
I normally play a tank character. You know what sometimes in a raid you might have too many tanks. And I also prefer smaller family oriented guilds vs zerg fest guilds. So if you have excess tanks, and short on people a tank could hop on a seige weapon and be apart of the DPS instead of being unproductive.
But then again I am speaking from an old school players perspective, it seems now a days tanks can dps or tank. God I hope AA puts the roles back in place for classes.

What exactly is the problem here?
This is awesome and not a problem at all.
problem? lol add siege engine resist buff to bosses
This.
Easy fix.
AND
Do NOT forget boss on video is lvl 30, Steparu is lvl 41 and others are also 40+ lvl...
???
Its working as intended, nothing was abused and it didnt make ''easy mode''.
WoW has no siege thingies so this must be a bug? I dont get it.
People got defensive pretty quick around here.
If you've been following Steparu previously a much greater number of players required much more effort to attempt this boss, the addition of the siege engine and the ease they killed him looked like the siege engine was dealing massively inflated damage (I still think it's doing a lot). I wasn't aware they were now a much greater level.
Not really, I've seen the other video and it has the same amount of players without siege weapons and it took a minute longer. Sandbox games give you options, if you don't want to fight it with siege weapons don't.
The issue isn't he siege engines, the issue is that the Boss's AI isn't intelligent enough to go crush those siege engines.

Well they didn't have aggro, but that's not what the OP was saying.
They could force the developers to make every boss fight require siege engines to win
= not so good?
Clearly trying to dramatize as it's not required at all and only gives a little bit more dps
It would, if the cannon was doing significant DPS. But obviously 1k damage every 5s isn't considered "high DPS output". Only advantage is that you have one player less to take care of/heal.
There's no problem imo, just as long as it's balanced. Make them do their ful damage to buildings / ships and the likes and significantly less to mobs. But it should still be an option!
Freedom of choice > restrictions.
My brand new bloggity blog.
I think using siege engines could quickly get very boring. There likely aren't enough different attacks, combat mechanisms and trick to do with a siege engine to keep PvE boss fights intresting when you have to go against your 100th boss with siege engine.
It's great that ArcheAge offers the alternative, but I hope they'll make sure that ultimately using your own character is best and a raid could benefit only from 1 or 2 siege engines.
