How is this game doing? ANything fixed? Hacking figured out? bugs worked out? promised features implemented? Is it playable yet? And most important of all... has the /cockslap feature been implemented yet?
For most people, character development and personal story ends upon clicking "Log in" if not "Start Game"

I'm curious about this too!
game not very good.
some bugs fixed, but few critical bugs still in game
harrible prediction , my ping 40-45 + prediction make PvP imposible for me. ppl hit me 5-10 meters away.
hacking also still in game.alot
promised features idk...TC? cooking? yes in game .. but this is fail
I think it just depends on who you talk too.
I just returned and think it's ages ahead of when I last played it (about 2 months before Dawns release). I'm enjoying the PvP and don't think it's impossible...sure the prediction still has issues but it's still manageable. I find PvE to still be pretty buggy. The population isn't booming but I just came from Darkfall so it feels like it is haha.
I'd say content wise the game is still on the short side, if all your planning to do is PvP you'll get bored in a couple of months...but if your into crafting/butchering/extracting/guild politics along with your PvPing you'll be entertained for a while. TC is cool but somewhat meaningless atm.
Also currently there is a serious inflation problem, gold is ridiculously easy to get. This leads to people not wanting to sell items/materials and really has hurt the economy IMO.
The new patch/expansion sounds like it could really make the game into what it should have been, but SV doesn't have the best track record with patches so it's hard to say how it will turn out. They do now have test servers and apparently "better" coders so I'm optomistic that this patch will actually move the game forward.
Okay, in this order:
- Shitty.
- No
- No
- No
- No
- No
- No
As a non-biased answer to your questions...
Mostly No on all of those. The sleep/hunger/thirst/cooking system is cool though(in my opinion) and the expansion "Awakening" probably coming out in April-June will add some much needed fluff and improvements to the game(if it works).
I do not understand you say the game is ages better but then you mention every problem it has had since beta and has not been fixed.
"better" coders?? They have not hired anyone new. Can you back that statement up with some fact?
probably because it had way more problems at beta than just those above, and those above are not as severe as beta, hell that first week of release i just gave up the game was unplayable and i mean unplayable. So compared to release and right now its in infinetly better shape considering you can actually play the game now so its nothing like it was at release or beta.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
I have to agree with this post. The difference is I started recently for the first time.
I'm having loads of fun. Game IS very playable. I don't know from experience how it was, but I always avoided this game due to bad forum reputation.
Right now however I'm very glad I tried it. It seems it's getting worked on, and advancing.
pre-alpha stage.
How u solved problem with hit 5-10 meters away
Well it has gotten ages better since beta, some of the bugs are still around but many have been fixed or are not as bad. I just tried my best to give a level headed informative rundown for the OP...I like the game and have fun with it but I don't turn a blind eye to it's problems.
As for the better coders I was reffering to what that one former trial GM said on the forums. I used the words "apparently" because there was no official word so its more of a rummor.
Give credit where credits due. Imo the current stage is a solid beta.
Having led development teams it's EARLY beta at best, but probably late alpha at worst.
Meh, as much as I hate this argument, they are indie after all, so for such a studio I think it would be accepteble to call current state of the game for good beta, imo.
after you rleease a release cleint its no longer a beta, after you rleease an open beta it could never be considered an alpha, these names are given by the developers for current states of their game not by other people. Comparing MO's state to antoher companies state oyu might say MO currently is of a similar quality to your average mmo that is in open beta, but it isnt of course not a beta itself thats jsut obsurred
seems like there alot of people in here whos post history almost completely revolves aronud MO a game they dont play, a game they bash on a regular basis without hardly ever commenting on a single other mmorpg. I guess the others arent so interesting but its one way of spotting the difference between a hater and someone who has a valid opinion.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
alpha - beta - gama - delta
Whatever you wanna name it...
Fact is game is very playable and enjoyable for a newcomer (if you're into living in a harsh fantasy world).
Being one and having a blast atm.
Well, I guess what he ment is that someone that actually plays the game has better knowledge about how the current state of the game is, compared to someone who only plays the forum wars here. Like Death noted, there are alot of people here, who´s account here, only is used to throw poop on SV and MO. I do agree with him that it sure is some dedicated hating going on from several people here. I´ve grown tired of it myself, and try to not devote so much time in writing here anymore, and just enjoy MO as it is in it´s current state. Others will keep on posting here about how much MO suck like it´s the most important thing on earth. To me that´s REALLY twisted...
Development practices don't care if you're "indie" or not. Alpha and beta have certain qualifications, and from the looks of this game it is still in an early beta phase. That label applies equally if you're Blizzard or Starvault. It's about where you are in the development process.
People enjoy posting about this game because it's a modern day "Dark and Light" or "Mourning".
Its simple, other games dont deserve the level of attention MO deserves.
If its a good game then unless you are talking for fanboys, most posters would drop by its forum once or twice now and then and give it a couple of accolades or replies and move on.
If its a bad game (from their POV) then posters would piss on it a few times and move on.
But MO is on a whole new plane of existence where people feel the need to talk about how this game's developers are so full of shit that they dont hesitate to resorting to commit credit card fraud, among other things. You want to make a distinction between a hater and someone with a valid opinion? I`ll give you a more than a dozen valid reasons why this game deserves every bit of hate that it garners. Leave opinions aside, people can give you Facts as to why this game's developers deserve the constant harping.
Also like you said, its interesting to watch a train filled with crooks and thieves barrel roll down the tracks rather than watch a train with a bunch of decent people chug along without incident.
Calling a piece of shit, a piece of shit isnt hating on said piece of shit, now is it?
I started playing this game not long ago and understand it was bad but it has seen development and it's going on and nowadays it's quite an enjoyable product. EVERYONE can see this for themself by trying a completely FREE trial (no CC info required).
If people bought the product without seeing it and than felt scammed when it wasn't what they expected...I don't really have that much sympathy, sorry.
I got scammed once myself. First and last time.
Dark and Light.
Now that was vaporware. A game that got abandoned development wise even before release. Back than I bought it by trusting the uber forum hype its' gotten and guess what. It was my own fault. I trusted an official description which was mostly a description of vision and than I let myself get hyped by "internet", buying a game without ever really seeing anything concrete.
That is actualy what a lot of people do with every game they encounter. They hype themself, skyrocketing their expectations and than they fall hard on the floor called reality. A reality where you need time and money to create a whole virtual world. A world that most people have no idea how many little details it's needed to constantly think of and work on.
Add an indie company on top and the result you can see. A market full of great sandboxy full loot pvp mmos... oh wait...
About frauds and similar accusations over MO. I don't see any proves about it. All I see here is hating on a game. If you think I'll trust a random forum poster shit talking over a game and hating, errr.. you're wrong. On the MO part I already got what I needed. A real ingame experience for free which let me figure out it's not a scam.
If you actualy did get scammed in past, than bitching on forums is the last place where you will do something worthwile, from real life perspective that is.
I uderstand that progressing thtough game will get me to a wall however that sadly is a "problem" of every mmo. Sooner or later you consume all the content and path leads you to less polished or unfinished areas. Point me to a game where this is not a case. Especialy games on the beginning of their evolution.
Ok. Read more.
This is exactly the truth.
I played Xyson for a while and that game was broken when I played. I have no ill will towards them because the Dev was very up front with all of us every day saying the game is incomplete and alot of things are broken and need fixing. He was not constantly hyping it saying the next patch will fix everything and make the game better than other MMOs. Finally when I could nto deal with it anymore I contatced the Dev and he gave me a full refund on my box and 3 months for free. Henrick would never in a million years do any of that.
I have played many many MMO's and MO is by first the only one I felt I was getting ripped off every day.
@Stari SV over billed people 2 times. And you had to contact them to get the money back. It is public knowledge. You are new so you would not know. I had 2 accounts one was doubled billed the other was trilple billed. I got all my money refunded but it took 2 months due to the AWESOME customoer service.
Thank you for more realisticaly couloured post, compared to many others. I understand the troubles and the unhappines those problems coused. And I'm glad you've gotten your money back.
Not trying to provoke you, but I have to point out how I find it interesting you bought 2 accounts and got subbed despite you felt getting ripped off every day.
This is an example of what I was talking about in my previous post above. If you had patience and / or did proper research, you could have figured these things out before purchasing.
Also these days you can use services like PayPal to pay MO sub. I guess payment options were more limited back than and you had to give out all your card details directly to SV.
