No it isn't lol. There are NPC's all over the place:)

I remember running across NPCs in a ton of places in the Holy Grail of sandbox games, and I hope the "Vets" don't get all teary eyed when I type this, Pre-NGE SWG... Then again, go ahead and cry "Vets", been doing it for how many years now, whats another day, right?

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Look for Planetside 2 then, the only true MMOFPS coming out.

errrr.. Firefall is a MMOFPS, as are Dominus and the new Tribes game.

I think you mean firefall is a MOFPS.
    Dominus isnot an FPS
and tribes universe is probably getting scrapped.
and Dusts 16v16 or whatever they are is by no definition massive.

im sorry to tell you that tribes will NOT be an MMOFPS. Its a simple FPS that only can be played in Multiplayer. In no way its a MMOFPS.

    For me: Guildwars2 and Planetside2

Both will change future MMOs and make some current game developer cry cause their baby will be doomed to f2p even before it got launched.

PS: Just found out that there  will be probably 2 different tribes-titles and one of this (universe) seems to be a mmofps.

But if we think about the FPS (ascend) not even being ready i guess that´s no 2012 release for the mmo then.

I do think it's going to be an exciting year in general though, just with the way it seems like a lot of games are coming out each with their own vision and going in their own directions.

have you taken a look at TERA? http://www.tera-online.com/

TERA really only has 2 things going for it. Action-oriented Combat and a Political System that may or may not work (so much room for abuse there). Also GW2 satisfy our action combat needs, without change a sub fee.

Oh wait, TERA has 3 things going for it image

I agree, GW2 and that's coming from an avid SWTOR player. See, I can like both, why not?

    Guild Wars 2 by far.

There are a few that I am going to watch closely, but none come close to the excitement and anticipation that I have for GW2. TERA is very interesting to me, but I just don't think it has any lasting power for some reason.  Not interested in TSW at all. I would go a step further and say I am excited for FFXIV 2.0 when it finally happens this year(hopefully). I had so much hope for that game, and its starting to spark again with all the drastic changes being made to it.

I agree.  and I'm very thankful I didn't buy into the Bioware MMO hype and throw my money away.  Can't wait for GW2 :)

  • LurvLurv Member UncommonPosts: 409

While MMORTS and the others are nice, the commercial fanbase is going to decide. And it'll most likely be GW2. Archeage is a possibility. And maybe even TERA will get people hyped again when they actually start getting the ball rolling finally instead of these month to month updates.

Getting too old for this $&17!

Archage.  I need an open world experience.

I can't stand dungeons and the effort that goes into finding a group to run one and the constant judging of the people your running it with.  I'm good at dungeons, and am kind and helpful to people I run them with, but they are the least appealing aspect of an MMO.

I'm looking forward to being able to do more in an MMO like Archage than watch the chat fill with "LFG for..." messages.  I need a dynamic experience where people work together because they stumbled across each other in the open world, not because they fill a certain role to run a static instance.

planetside 2 & archage if it releases this year in north america, world of darkness looks like its not gonna be coming for a long time

    Probably ArcheAge if it's P2P.

I've given up on looking forward to games. I was avidly waiting for SWTOR, and what did that give me? A pile of CRAP, WoW clone shovelware. I've given up looking forward toward any specific game any more, I'll just wonder around from game to game until I find something that is surprisingly good.

    My motto from now on....

ALL FUTURE MMO'S ARE WoW CLONE CRAP, UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE!!!

     - Quest-based leveling

     - Instanced PvP with PvP gear

     - Endgame raiding

All the warning signs were there... you just weren't playing attention to them. Next time, look for the warning signs, before you pre-judge a game.

Not to mention hundreds of sites and bloggers mentioned it was a WoW-clone, you didn't even need to see the signs yourself. Maybe people were blinded by teh awesomez lightsaborz ><.

I've checked it out somewhat.  As far as I can tell, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the combat is more active in that it requires aiming and there is dodging, but you need to stand still to cast.  GW2 is going in a different direction, which is that targetting is tabbed or implied (or you can just use a skill with no target at all), but you can do it on the move.  Being able to move is something I'm very much looking forward to.

If you've got a video you want to share that really shows what TERA is all about, I'd be happy to watch it.  Same goes for anyone else who is excited about a game.  What do you think really sells it?  This should go without saying, but emphasis on gameplay please.

For me its GW2 and then Planetside 2. I would put Planetside 2 over GW2 if it wasnt for SOE. Actually PS2 would be WAY ahead of any other game out there right now if the track reccord didnt say SOE will screw it up somehow.

Technically Speaking (cos I am in the redzone) It would have been SWTOR whenever they decide to launch it in the Southern Hemisphere. However I have already played more than enough on the US servers to know it is a dissapointment.

So Maybe Planetside 2 or Firefall.

    For me.

    1. GW2- The hype surrounding this game is astronomical and everything I have seen so far leads me to believe it actually might live up to the hype. Heck even if it doesnt (which it probably wont) its still gonna be a good game from what it seems.

    2. Planetside 2- I REALLY wanna play a MMOFPS which doesnt suck and PS1 was great but way before its time. I think the world is ready for its rebirth though and so far everything looks great.

    3. The Secret World- Probably the most original and imaginative MMO in a very long time. Also arguably  the biggest AAA sandbox title since SWG. The industry NEEDS this game to succeed. I'm very excited yet very skeptical about this game. It will either be great or a bug ridden mess.

Dont care about the rest. TERA looks like a gimmicky anime grinder (barf), Archage looks interesting but I have a bad feeling its just not gonna be very good or do well in NA.

Further out-. EQNext- Reboot of EQ1 I have heard which is what I really want (I could never get into EQ2). The Kingdoms of Amulur based one called Copernicus sounds like it could be a good one as well.

SOE generally release decent games...but from there they run into troubles.

    [...]

The only way I see it not living up to the hype is with the WvWvW, mainly because we haven't seen it in action yet. Everything else we've seen and have a general idea of how it will work, it's just the WvWvW that I'm kinda worried about. That will soon change in March & April when lots of the general public will get to beta it, so all we can do is hope till then.
