Like my message said for all the doomsayers out there hating on the game, they fixed ability delay, something some of the haters out there said that could NOT be done due to the engine. Ive been testing it all morning with my Sith Juggernaut, and its so smooth and fluid now. Troll away if you like, haters will hate and all, but the Bioware devs just prooved there here to stay. GG devs, just fix pvp now. Everyone is also noticing less lag as well,which is a good thing for all.

This is why I didnt want the name "ability delay" blanketted over all the things in game. While it is an improvement in warzones and such, there are several things that still need to be addressed.
Such as :
Animation taking longer than the gcd causing problems for certain classes (Gunslingers, Sages, Troopers and their imperial counterparts). They cant start the next ability until the animation finishes which becomes misleading for a lot of people.
Certain items and abilities triggering the GCD EXCEPT the gcd doesnt spin. So its very misleading to players.
Some people (not me though) experiencing getting skills cancelled when moving even if they were instant cast abilities. (jumping/moving at a specific moment when using force sweep)
Certain non gcd connected abilities not going off when used with certain other abilities (cant use disctract when using flurry of bolts but you can use it while using other attacks)
Even with all that, todays patch was a great step in getting things fixed and while the others are a problem, the warzone delay/abilities not firing off at all fix was a great step in the right direction.

Not suprising, there was no ability delay at all in some of the beta builds.
I hope all the people who said it couldn't be fixed because it's "hardcoded into the engine" realize how silly they sounded.

They might stay on that bandwagen since there are still ability delays lol.

Considering the issue is not fully fixed, i'd say the same one. It's better but it's still an issue, only less frequently.

i noticed a huge diference, pvping feels way smoother
Cover and other Gunslinger skills have been much smoother for me this evening. My framerate has improved by 5-10fps too.
The biggest improvement for me, though, was finally installing Windows 7 after using the same XP install for 5+ years. One thing I noticed while trying to troubleshoot general performance was that my DirectX was knackered and not working well with my GPU drivers.
If you want to PM me a dxdiag I can take a look for you - gotta be worth ruling it out if nothing else.
Omg just got home from work and I always check out this site before knocking out a few hours with my flavor of the month MMO. Currently that "flavor" is SWTOR. Has been since release. Been having a lot of fun taking things in and slowly lvling several characters at once. More fun than any other MMO in recent memory actually. But i really don't know why. There are glaring issues with the game, I agree. Fixin to log in and check it out. The ability delay is probably one of the main issues I have with the game right now. When in a group, it really gets bad. Never quite figured out if it was the game itself or just my computer. Hit a skill wait like maybe a second before the spell/ability goes off. My issues sometimes went further. FPS drop, loot something and wait a second for it to appear in inventory, chat lag. Leave group...took several minutes for things to return to normal... Really hope they improved this. Looging in..........May the Force be with you!

At this point, they require a come back, because people already moved on. All but a handful of way overcrowded release servers are practically dead. I certainly don't think they'd fix this, because Warhammer was never fixed. It was an experience call, not foolish at all. It was never the problem I had with the game. I just found it boring and lifeless, and never like an mmo.
As someone already said, this is the problem with the term "ability delay." To me ability delay is what was going on in war when it launched and you pressed a button, waited for half a second or so and then saw the ability go off. This was happening in WZ for me non-stop. I would press a button and nothing would happen for about a second to a second and a half, then the ability would go off, or sometimes it would simply do nothing and act as though I never pressed the button. After the patch this doesn't happen with any of my abilities, they are no longer delayed. Now animations taking longer than the gcd is a different issue as are alot of things that get lumped into "ability delay."
Obviously not everyone had the problem - just like not everybody seems to have it fixed after the patch.
The more I read about the growing issues with this game, the more I feel bad for Bioware. It seems like Bioware's reputation is going to suffer at the expense of EA's desire to push the game out as quickly as possible. Granted, Bioware has had missteps (Dragon Age II), but the company has integrity in the RPG genre, and this isn't fair to the people in that company.
That being said, I hope this issue is resolved quickly for all the players of the game.

As far as i'm concerned this is good news. the sooner they fix 100% of all the problems plaguing this game the sooner i can finally give it a try. i'm not too thrilled about waiting 6 months to a year to try it. Or (heaven forbid) i have to wait till it goes FTP...
so keep me appraised as things get better. i want to see a complete fix and balance to pvp and a complete fix and balance to crafting and a complete fix and balance to UI and graphics options. that is all.
Can we all just give the game at least a few months to work out some of the bug, its sad to see all the hate for a game thats just getting started, Todays patch is a good step, yes a small one but this is how games are fixed, so all the I MUST HAVE PERFECT GAME NOW people, take a pill and give the game some time.
Does that mean that abilities work more like WoW now? Is the game no longer as strict to animations?

If the majority of bugs/issues came about as a result of a release population flushing them out I would agree with you but the issues/bugs SWTOR is having right now have been discussed and known since at least Jun that I recall in beta.
They ignored the testers /bug reports and suggestions so they could get the game playable enough to release in the state it's in now for the holiday rush.
So IMO, no they don't deserve a break, they deserve all the criticism they are receiving because it's a direct result of thier actions/decisions.

Cool that they fixed it. Was fairly annoying, but now that its gone I can put on my monocle and top-hat and ride my donkey through the city with my head held high.

I press a button now, and there is no delay, I don't know how else to put it. I press button and animation/ability is triggered. Before I press the button and it took anywhere form half a second to two seconds for the animation/ability to start. Press button, animation for ability starts = no ability delay in my book. Press button nothing happens for a bit, then it starts = ability delay. This is no longer happening for me on the three characters I tried out today. I can't speak for everyone, only myself.
