LF new mmo. Please help :)

So, I need help finding a new mmo to play... For 3-4 years now I have been looking for a new game. I used to play WoW, and I loved it.

What did I love so much about it? I don’t know.

It was my first MMO, I used to play games like Kingdom Hearts and, that Star Fox  rpg game, and would get hook playing for 8+ hours straight.

I remember my first time playing WoW. I got two level 40 and played a china bob to get me to 55...lol yea I know thats bad but I hated the grind. My buddy that I was playing with also was givin a level 60, so I was alone in azeroth and wanted to catch up.

One of the things that I remember the most is the epicness I felt while playing, everything was so new to me I was in awww. The best feeling I ever had in wow was when I was not even playing. I was watching my fried play on his new level 60 that he was given. He and I had no clue what we were doing, and he entered The Barrens and the screen had red letters pop up saying " Horde Territoy" PVP Zone or something along those lines, and I was just like OOoooooooo shit omg omg we are across the enemy’s lines this is like soooooo cool. I had butterfly’s in my stomach. I was that excited.

I played until TBC, and when the patch came out that made BT and SW ez mode came out I quit. I was a GM we were in SSC and TK, it was hard and it was sweet. The fights were epic, and new. We feel apart after that patch and I have not had the same experience since.

I have tried a list of games since then. Never had another experience like that .

I want to have an experiance like that again! Please help me!

games I have played since and dislikes

AoC - Liked the combat and the fact you could make guild houses and raid other peoples! but to buggy, and imbalanced at lunch so I quit

WAR- never made it to max level, the game just felt like I was doing the same thing over and over, questing was sooo dull.

LOTRO - only reason I stoped this game was because the people I played with at the time stoped logging in, had a hard time playing alone.

SWTOR .... I do not like this game at all really. Its SCI-FI first of all withc I do not like. Also the game play is to dull my story line sucks I feel like it is repetitive. ( I am a Jedi consular basically for the first 30 lvls I find the Jedi master with the plague and kill him, this happens 4 times I think...thats when I decied I dont like the game.)

EQ2 .- Played and friends I played with, well our levels got out of wack people were to high level and to low to play with each other and the game fayded away. again not to much agienst it just stoped playing.

I want a game that gives me the EPIC feeling I had when I started to play WoW. I want to be immersed in the game, I was to be able to sit at my computer for 10+ hours on a week end playing, and come home from work wanting to play.

TLDR

Must be a fantsy MMO

Hard PVE! And Complex fights

PvP , world pvp.

I want to be able to play the game from level 1, not level to max so I can start playing...if you know what I mean.

I like the choices that I make while leveling to affect me.

A good crafting system

Lots of classes to pick from I love the diversity

  • I saw no mention of RIFT in your post.

While I personally don't play it, quite many people who used to play WoW with me over the years have moved on to RIFT and are having a good time from what I can tell. It's a polished mix of WoW and other games of that type. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but that's okay because it's not trying to.

You should definitely give it a shot, I think you might enjoy it!

To be honest, do not expect to get that feeling of your first mmo back as it probably won't happen. Whatever game you play now you will be comparing it to WoW. So try something completely different like EvE/Perpetuum. I'm currently playing Uncharted Waters which I find fun (you can play a pirate! Yarrrrr!).

Other than that wait for GW2 like the rest of us :)

I read your post and from what I can tell there are only really 2 games that you would be interested in that are not complete "WoW Clones" Aion and Rift. Both require you to purchase the games and pay a subscription fee. Aion is going F2P sometime in February on the EU client. North American players can still play on it though. Rift is extremely cheap to buy, you can find it on Steam for $5.00. There are countless other F2P games out there that are "WoW Clones" but they copy it so much that you probably wouldn't last long before getting bored of them. Like the above poster said, you could always try a new genre. Anime inspired, Side Scrollers, Browser Games, Sandbox, or MOBA's.

I am currently only playing one game "League of Legends" It does a very good job of qwelling the need for balanced, competitive PVP. There is also a game mode called Coop vs AI which in essence could loosely be considered PVE. It is a mode where you vs bots to get a better understanding of the game. There is no PVE Whatsoever besides that.

I hope this was helpful. Good Luck in your quest to find a "New Love"

Pwn is a leetspeak slang term derived from the verb own, as meaning to appropriate or to conquer to gain ownership. The term implies domination or humiliation of a rival, used primarily in the Internet-based video game culture to taunt an opponent who has just been soundly defeated (e.g., "You just got pwned!")

I also think Rift at least might be worth a try. The free trial should tell you enough if it is worth it or not.

Otherwise as others already said, wait for GW2.
