NC soft is suing Bluehole for stealing lot of art assets and software designs , when L3 developers jumped ship to Bluehole.

This all was orcestrated to considerably sabotage USA launch of TERA and strenghten GW2 launch (by eliminating opposition)
Since the case is pretty strong. And these things can take years ( like Bethesda vs Interplay - fallout MMO case )
I doubt we will see TERA anytime soon in west, if ever...

Heres your ticket to Cold World, that's wicked.
Anyway, this news kinda saddens me. But meh.
The game launched in Korea under lawsuits, there is no reason to believe it will not launch here as planned until said otherwise.
This isn't the first time they brought this up, from what I'm to understand, this has been an ongoing legal battle since TERA came out.
Well that tells you how bad GW2 is going to be if they are afraid of the Tera launch. I say wait for that instead of playing the NA crappy game that is coming out.
I'm not sure how Bluehole (former NCSoft peeps) or Enmasse (former NCSoft West peeps) thought that NCSoft would just go away. It's no secret as to what happened. I'm somewhat surprised they even got to release in Asia. With Lineage II booming again, I think NCSoft's concern is mildly justified. You simply can't develop software while being paid by company A and up and bolt to create company B with those assets.
Personally, as much as I look forward to Tera (I can't wait to get my hands on it!), it's almost as if Karma is winning out with this game.
My prediction is that the game will launch as scheduled and a finanaial settlement will be reached to allow this to happen.
And you are getting this information from who?
GW2 being afraid of TERA is pretty moronic.
I almost never log in to write something on this forum, but i felt the need the say SCREW YOU NCSOFT I WANT MY GAME!!!
Don't care one bit about companies, lawsuits or anything like that, just want the game to be released so I can play.
NCsoft really is the devil
LOL so they are Scared of TERA? I am playing the Korean version and from what i heard the NA version will be 36-38GB (atm the korean version is 25GB). Tera Will be a great game and NCsoft better be scared because it might screw GW2 over if they get too cocky. They are clearly threatened by TERA as it is.
Clearly threatened? lol.
Where's your information.
The case is strong indeed, and you are behind on facts (trolling..?)
Fact is that BlueHole Studio has lost the lawsuit against NCSoft and the court has ruled that BlueHold Studio has to pay NCSoft 1b US$ within 2 years of release of their game (being TERA). Since the launch is already close to a year ago in Korea and Japan (and kinda failed there), it's high time for BleuHole Studio to speed up release here in the West and hope it'll be a success here. If not, then they can't live up to the court order and will most likely go bankrupt...
Oh so ur telling me that NCsoft just RANDOMLY Chose this time RIGHT AFTER TERA ANNOUNCED Their release date??? C'mon i know you like GW2 but dude... Its clear that they are trying to Delay the game because they feel threatened. They had what? 1-2 years? and now they do it just under a week because TERA release date was announced.
Did you miss the link dealing with the lawsuit trying to prevent release?
Bluehole should thank NC for saving them from having to release that game in the states. It's not even on the map compared to GW2. They missed their window to release here at the same time as Korea. Now it's too late.
Oh he had his eyes closed so he can deny the obvious evidence.
You seriously think Guild Wars 2 feels threatened by a Korean action mmo. TERA is a game I'm actually looking forward to, along with GW2 but they are different games.
Call it strategic timing, not feeling threatened of taking playerbase away.
U ever played the game? Its clear that u have no idea whatsoever what the game is about, what its aiming to be and btw people are sick of tab target and point and click BS, so dont think just because you hate a game, everyone else is expected to hate it too.
It wasn't that much and they had it overruled.
Some of the BHS staff were found guilty and BHS was found liable, but they don't have compensation was overruled by an appeals court.
This doesn't bother me though, I'm in Europe and the filing only applies to En Masse and NA, not Frogster and EU.
Saw the news first thing in the morning and it ruined my day, pretty much.
What I'm thinking right now:
don't get upset,
be patient and wait until some time has passed,
if betas or release date are/is scrapped then proceed to become upset.
I hate NCSoft as much as the next person but you do realize that some of those guys were actually convicted in korea for stealing.
It's pretty safe to assume that some of those guys who made TERA did some downright naughty stuff.
We really need separate forums for every newly launched game. There can be the anti-<MMO> one and there can be the 'what general discussion should be' one. All the lamenting can happen together where each can find solace in like minded can't-move-on-ers leaving the rest of us to actually move forward and discuss meaningful and relevant topics.
my gawd some people are stupid. Digging for any reason to hack on a game on this site is rediculous. This has nothing to do with Guild Wars 2. NCsoft is the publisher of several things, and the article repeatedly mentions Lineage (3). Arenanet is developing GW2 and they aren't concerned with other games launching.
I highly doubt this is about being scared of tera. Bluehole STOLE from NCsoft and used that information to create their game….If you made something and someone stole it and tried to use it to make money and/or in some ways tried to use it against you…would you just sit by and let that happen? NCsoft in entitled to receive compensation for the information that Bluehole stole from them
This is not about GW2 or L3
Its the point that we might see or not , TERA launched in english any time soon ...
both companies are Korean and they've resolved this in Korea just fine, so I don't see why they wouldn't be able to do the same in the US.
the laws are different, but not significantly so to prevent Tera from being launched here
I review lots of indie games and MMORPGs
Well if we dont see TERA (BTW I very much wanted to play this game) I wouldnt blame NCsoft.. I would blame the people who thought they could steal from another company and get away with it. Its karma for their actions. I am disappointed with those members of Bluehole.
Doubt it. Unless a judge orders them not to release it.
