The Old Republic is still the best MMO available right now, for the mass market. There is no questioning that.
80% of the people who bash Star Wars, and vote "yes" on this poll, haven't even played the game.
I stopped my subscription after the first month, and I will activate it again after a few patches as I do with all new MMO's.
But currently I am playing no MMO because there is nothing up to the same standards, and I want to save myself for when The Old Republic has some of it's faults altered.
I can't wait until Guild Wars 2 comes out, that game will get the more bashing than any other MMO in history, why? Because the stupidly over the top hype it's followers are giving it. No game can live up to that, not even Guild Wars 2.
Funcom has done it well with The Secret World, don't overhype something that can not live up to the hype.
In conclusion - The Old Republic is good, but didn't live up to the hype, no game ever does. It is still the best MMO available right now though.

Oh really?
Funny when fans can freely spout their opinion as facts, while "haters" immedietely get beaten with the "opinion" clubs whenever they do the same thing.

I'm not a fan. I'm a player.
And it's true, that most of the people who bash The Old Republic haven't even tried it. I may have been exaggerating a little with my percentage.

Prove it.
Because that sounds like a made up assumption on your part that has been created to dismiss their observations as inferior (lies, even).
Meh is the exact word to describe swtor for me. It's not a bad game, in fact other that the expected technical quirks here and there it's a great game. For some reason after 3-1/2 weeks it just wasn't exciting enough to log in anymore.
I would still recommend it for anyone that's looking for a new MMO it's just not for me. Yes, I have been a SW fan for as long as I can remember.
I think it's strengths, story, VO etc, is profound for those that have been looking forward to such features in mmos, but the rest is pretty typical, which is what we knew we where getting all along. I would say average, not meh, but an average mmo is better than most types of games for those of us who love what only mmos can provide. Having said that the game has yet to grow on me, which is why I am back in WoW, and thinking of returning to Guild Wars as well, mmos I feel at home in, so maybe swtor just needs time to develop.

Oh, and yes, the game is extremely 'meh'.
That's true, it's an assumption that has been correct in the past so I am using it again, which I shouldn't really be doing.
True, it is pretty ridiculous. You acknowledge it so though, so kudos for that.
But to even consider that all of the bashers have played the game is absurd.
No one said 'all'?
But to dismiss 'most' of it's detracters as people who haven't played is equally absurd. Lets maybe get this back on track and stop making dimissive blanket assumptions just to invalidate their PoV on a game in place of real debate?
My opinion (mind you, I've only been playing for 2 days so far) is that the game does some things well, some things poorly, and nothing phenominally.
It feels like a watered-down Mass Effect with the option to group with other people. It has a very single-player RPG feel to it, especially with the companion system. Not a plus IMO. Still, those early levels are more entertaining to me than WoW is (not a fan of WoW), and they did a great job capturing the Star Wars feel, especially with the background music and SFX.
I've only barely scratched the surface of my advanced classes on my 2 chars (Mercenary and Sith Assassin). Merc feels just a wee bit OP, while Assin is just the opposite so far. Then again, my Assin and Merc are levels 11 and 13 respectively, so still a ways to go for them. I am happy it took longer than 2 hours each to get them to Lv 10 a-la-WoW.

Have you even tried it?
There is no way to really know for sure on that statement so claiming it as a truth is misleading at best. I have tried the game, played both Republic and Empire on Juyo. My wife even played, and my co-workers that I see on a daily basis still play, so I had many reasons to continue to play the game. I canceled after about 2 weeks into my first 30 days. It's not a horrible game (there are some redeeming qualities) but I think "meh" describes it very well.
The Old Republic is still the best MMO available right now, for the mass market. There is no questioning that.
Really, no questioning it? Because i see pages and pages of people on here and elsewhere "questioning it".
Personally, i'm playing SWTOR. It's one of 3 MMOs I actively play. Of the 3 - in my opinion - it is definitely the worst one and the one i'm least likely to come back to once I'm done with it.
Out of the 30-40 MMOs I've played over the years, TOR would probably make the top 20, but it would not make the top 10.
I'm playing it, i'm enjoying it and i definitely think that it's totally "meh".

Heh , why do you even need to play SWtor when you can already see what's its all about? My only question about it is ; are there any ship combats? And when I say ship combat I don't mean STO crappy ship combat system where you got 2 hands crossed along the keyboard after being one minute into combat.
Sprites in SWtor is a deja vu feeling , been there ,done that. I want a hybrid star wars MMO where you got equal ship combat and ground combat. It should of been like PlanetSide 2 where you get to be a droid or clone trooper and while leveling up you get the chance to get promoted into something better. This whole Sith / Jedi in a Star Wars MMO is pretty lame , all the hype and millions invested for something so linear. If CCP had those millions they could of made a WAY better job in creating a kick ass Star Wars MMO.
Also SWtOR has nothing to offer a so called WoW veteran to quit and join Bioware's version of a star wars MMO.

As it Seems I have missed quite a few good MMOs over the years :P

I played TOR, and i find it to be mediocre at best. Same game, different skins. To many issues, bugs, exploits, and broken mechanics for a 200+ million dollar game and a year+ of polishing. Its not the best mmo on the market. It lacks features, depth, the star wars feeling, and so much more. Its got so many problems, i couldnt force myself to resub. Its the one game i never gave more than a 3 month trial. I just couldnt.
It felt like i was playing another mmo with different skins.
I went back to EQ2 and Rift. Much more going on there. And yes these games have been out longer, but should an epic company like BW try to match mmo's of today instead of trying to catch up with them? Its going to take forever for TOR to even be close to an epic mmo they claimned to have made. And day by day you see more flaws come to light, i just cant justify naming this an epic mmo.

Wow brain twist, very odd wording.
*edit* wow your even from the US... at least try to make what you type intelligible.

-Currently playing FFXIV, and BDO.
It lasted me one week longer than Final Fantasy XIV. That's not saying much.
I think in 3 months time it will be considered the greatest MMO disappointment of all-time when you consider the budget, hype, and all other elements.
Well, at least now it's obvious that SWTOR is not the second coming, so yeah, to me it's definitely a meh, like it's alway been.

Oh, and yes, the game is extremely 'meh'.
I'm level 50, valor rank 61. You'd think I'd be the first extolling the game's many virtues.
I actually think 'meh' is the perfect way to describe it.
I could go into the why, but I've done so already in other threads, and I won't repeat it here.
That's true, it's an assumption that has been correct in the past so I am using it again, which I shouldn't really be doing.

Yep, it's meh to say the least.
It's going to be 2nd AAA title I won't subscribe for after the included month. 1st was AoC.
it is meh. Actually its the second game ever i have cancled before my free month is up. The first one was warhammer online, go figure, heh.

Not that the game is horrible
But I get disgusted by seeing how they had 200 million and produced this
"It has potential"
-Second most used phrase on existence
"It sucks"
-Most used phrase on existence
I tried it at an expo, and then I was in beta. I did not buy it.
See the flaw in your logic?

STWOR isn't just a "meh" , it's a HOLY meh. :P
I'm going to continue playing my one character to level 50. Currently I'm level 37.
After that I will cancel the subscription.
It's not as enjoyable as I hoped it would be. And I didn't even follow the hype. I guess that counts as a Meh.
