Why all the daily's!!

Valgar1Valgar1 Member UncommonPosts: 324

The one thing i really hate that started in WoW are the dam daily quests. So now all the new games. IE rift, swtor felt the need to add them also.  This was the worst idea ever implemented.  Ask people in your guild, "hey you want to group?" "sure after i run my dailys"  Drives me nutz!!!

Why add things we need to do over and over again to get gear?

Anyone else hate this trend in MMO's?

hmm that is NOT the trend. Daily is OLD.

    The new is LFD/LFR.

Dailiy is a feature for solo-ers though. If you do not like them, dont do them. They are usually not mandatory. The point of an MMO is to have choice of what to do.

There are a LOT of group content (dungeons, raids .. ) so i don't see why some solo content that you do not need to do is bad for u.

At the same time it gives everyone on the server a unified task that can enable others to group up with people whom they would have never normally have grouped with.

You didn't really explain why you don't like dailies, other than they drive you nuts, is there any chance you could elaborate?

I mean for me anyway. From a story stand point, it's like ok can you go stop the flow of water to save the town. You do it, Thank you you save'd us all. Now tomorrow the dam broke all over again.  I wouldn't mind as much if they changed what you had to go and actually do?  maybe i just hate seeing that question mark all over an area. Im OCD so i like to know an area has been completed.

    Guess its me )

If you don't like daily quests, then don't do them.  If a game says that you have to do them in order to be effective, then don't play that game.  There are plenty of games that don't.

Some could be like the Silithid War Efforts in WoW. Probably some of the better dailies imo, though they weren't technically dailies, but rather just repeatable quests. I suppose the War Front at Sunwell is a better example of dailies that make more sense.

As both of these sets of repeatable quests helped pushed your server towards a final goal.

A lot of people pay MMOs like they were work.  So the dailies are there for them o.o

It feels much more polite to say "I need to do my dailies" than to say "I need to wash my hair".

Because it's quick and easy for lazy developers.

Well, part of the argument is that they remove yet more players from the grouping pool, which is ofc a downward spiral of people not being able to find group, so they solo, which means less chance of others finding a group, so they solo, which means...

Some would argue that allowing heavy solo play in these games actually destroys the group game and that it is actually forcing a playstyle on a lot of people that would prefer to play another way (ironically the same argument the soloers use againt group based content).

If I cannot get a group then I am forced to solo and enforced soloing in MMOs is a bad thing in the bigger picture in both terms of community and 'soul'.

as an avid open pvp fan, daily quests gives people like me the chance to go out into the open world and pvp/gank/grief people while they do their quests.

It usually ends up as massive battles over quest hubs.

it was probably the best thing they could do for open pvpers after the whole instanced pvp phenomenom.

They are a cheap way of extending content, if you can call it content.

Well, the general wait time for a group in WOW is roughly 10 min for a DPS, and no wait for a TANK. Given those wait time, i do not see how dailies are really negatively impacting grouping. Even if so, the impact is minimal.

Plus, many people do daillies WHEN WAITING TO GROUP. A perfect way of giving them something to do while not grouping.

So i just don't see any evidence that dailies are "destroying grouping".

It's just an easy way to tack endgame content onto a game that wasn't really built for much of an endgame.  So yeah, I hate it.  I'm amazed these MMOs retain any subs at all, with cheap cop-out content like dailies.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

  • ShadusShadus Member UncommonPosts: 669

Because everyone loves repeating the same content over and over and over and over thousands of times silly! I mean who wouldn't want dailies they're so... monotonous and god knows we all play mmo's to maximize our activity monotony!
