In all seriousness, you cant call it a wow killer till it actually kills wow in the free market.  Meaning here in the united states.  Meaning everyone goes over to Aion from wow and the servers shut down due to lack of profitabillity for the publisher.
Honestly, in the western world, where our government dosent shut down competition (like in china) this game will never win out.
This game has 250,000 subs in the free market versus 11 million for wow.
If you call this a wow killer, I say your math-fu is weak.

    You're delusional and funny.

NCsoft sold 1m boxes in the West. There are ~40 servers full of people in Korea, #1 in Korea, #1 in Japan and #1 P2P game in China. Add the russian and taiwanese servers.

    250 000 ? Nice made up numbers.

Where do your 11m come from? WoW is dead in Asia.

    Or they just didn't happen.

But even if they are 100% accurate, its sort of makes one sad to think of so many people playing such a bland game.  You'd hope they found something better.

Who the hell are you, and why should I care?
Congrats! You are a victim of Trollstar!

He's assuming America is a "free market". Not against America btw, just thought it was funny that he believes such things.

Aion..250,000 subs? He doesn't even link any info where he got that number from..

    Wow 11 million? delusional.

But that can be said of anything. Are you saying that if any one of us stepped into your life we might not say "oh my, what a shame... he picked that career?" Or "he likes that movie/song/book/couch? You'd think he'd have picked something better".

It seems that people like to associate themselves with something they consider worthwhile and that has merit. Because who doesn't want to be assoicated with something that is worthwhile and has merit?

But then they make the leap that others are doing things that are in complete oppostion to what they think of as being worthwhile and having merit. Some people feel uncomfortable with that.

To take it a step further, a good many people that I know would say "It sort of makes one sad to think of so many people playing video games. You'd hope they would have found something better to do with their time".

    You see, it's all subjective.

Where did you get these figures from?  2/3 is a lot and don't say everyone you know it quiting because when I log in there are tons of people still playing.  It takes like 5 minutes to get an FT group going.  Nice fail at trolling.

I can only speak about my server and it's dying fast.  We lost lots of players after a few months.   I am pretty close to quitting myself.   Just waiting on news on the Aion Vision Trailor.   If I don't see what I am looking for in that expansion or updates I am done wit the game.  Sadly it had alot of promise, but game gets boring and frustrating.

Looks like your waiting for the game to make your fun for you.  I would say the game is not for you. If your not having fun now then you prolly won't later.  If you look at it what keeps most people in MMOs is the human interaction.  Updates and expansions should enhance your experience not be the deciding factor on whether you leave or not.  Too many times have I see people blame a game on their boredom.   The game is only what you make it.

I play Aion and while I do have fun with it I know A LOT of people(myself included) who would jump ship today if a new decent game came out like GW2, FF14 or SWTOR.  I just dont feel like going back to an old game or starting on an old game so Ill play Aion until the next best thing

I know this thread was dead, but with this new reality in Eu servers, what this mean? will it explodes?

I don't have any definite numbers, but I know that right now it is pretty active on US Israphel server. Every 5 minutes I'm fighting off some Asmo or running in some group for a quest.

I have yet to go more than 5-10 minutes in this game without seeing another player, even in remote areas of the game.

Id realy like to play this game, looks cool. But dont want to waste 40$ on this when free to play is coming. I hope they have sub options in their f2p.

  • ZiggyvaleZiggyvale Member UncommonPosts: 11

Yes F2P will have a sub option. It will have Free, Vetran and Gold.

Its a really beautiful game. You'll enjoy it, though I can't promise that. You might get put off the tradeskilling.
