How do you guys think this game is going to turn out? NCsoft has released some pretty good games in their past, will this one be just as good or better?
I think it will be like some other NC games that have been released (except the Lineage series, never played those). I think it will be something different that breaks the mold of the fantasy hack and slash and overall I think it will be done very well for what it is. Not sure yet if it will become boring pretty soon like most other MMORPG's. Just depends if its the same old type of quests <kill X mobs> <bring me Y items from mob>.
I have always been a massive fan of racing games, from Spy Hunter on my Spectrum to the Need For Speed series (but not Underground). My all-time favourite was Motor City Online (R.I.P), which was the first attempt at combining MMOGs with a driving sim.
AA will face the same problems as a MMORPG would do, in the vein of repetitive "get me 400 of these items for this reward" quests. This is the same problem which faces any RPG developer and we all hope they find a way to prevent it. Guild Wars doesn't suffer from it, so they can learn from that.
The other problem is a bigger one, faced by racing games the world over - not enough tracks or cars. You can't release a patch to add a new track or new vehicles every couple of months, because that would be a hell of a strain on the programmers. Single player games, this doesn't matter, because after you pay your cash they don't care if you play it or not. If they expect you to pay a monthly fee, they need to find a way of keeping your attention. Eventually everyone is going to tire of the same old tracks and the same old upgrades.
That sounded a lot more down on the game that I meant it to - I'm really looking forward to see what they do with it. It sounds a lot like Carmageddon without the pedestrians, and that series was always popular. If they can get a balance between a realistic simulator and a fun action destroy-'em'up, they should be onto a winner.

I just can't help but think after playing for 3 hours I will have become bored with it. I mean, what can you actually do? I downloaded all the vids and they all look to me like a perfect FPS kind of game but behind a wheel? In the same way that Battlefield 2 is good for a quick blast I feel this will be the same.
It looks similiar to the old earth and beyond to me, except for space ships you have cars to command. It looks like it will be pretty good. I think what will keep you playing is trying to get to the next lvl to upgrade the looks of you car or a new car and be able to fight in new area. I used to love being able to change to looks of my ship but E&B lacked content, hopefully this will have alot more.
This game is being developed by netdevil which doesnt make it a 'plaync' game, plaync will only publish it. This may mean they are going to run the servers and probably collect money from subscribers but they will not be making patches for the game. I really feel if they listen to their beta testers this game will be great. Then again if they fail to do so, it may just end up like EnB. Still miss that game.

ArmySurplus makes no apologies if someone other than him has already posted his reply in part or otherwise. He cant be expected to read every single post on a thread and makes no promise to do so. If you posted a similar reply before him you undoubtedly stole his thoughts and used them without his written authorization. Please return to your post and edit it so that his post is the first to state whatever the hell he was thinking at the time. Thank you!
Now isn't there an NDA Tatsit, thx for the info but are you sure you can legally be saying this? Also can I have your beta account :P.

That would make this post from Pann (the Community Rep for AA) rather odd:
As a member of the testing community, you are bound by the Non-Disclosure Agreement to refrain from reposting, publishing or sharing any content from the beta test areas of the site.
Question Can I tell others that I am in the Auto Assault beta? Answer We understand that secrets are often hard to keep, especially when you are as excited about something as we'll hope you'll be about Auto Assault . However, please note that testers are strictly prohibited from identifying themselves as beta participants on message boards, particularly the public message boards on the official Auto Assault website.
It is permissible to tell your friends and family that you are participating in the beta test, but bear in mind that under the terms of the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) you signed, you are barred from discussing or revealing specific aspects of the game or beta.
It was nice of you to offer a Beta review, but I think something like that is best kept till Open Beta (if they decide to have one). HAd some really interesting insights/views, but alas it is not yet time to legally share them. Shame too
I know, none of the Beta guidelines are really posted anywhere obvious. Even the NDA seems only visible to Beta participants (or so I hear -- obviously I could not say "I'm in Beta" if I were -- as per above post).
I'd think at least the terms of the NDA would be made a little more available so you'd know what you'd have to agree to before you even sign up. /shrug
As long as no Beta participant that might post here loses their beta account for any accidental identification it's all good. <--- was that vague enough for any NDA?
I think after all this monotonous waiting I have finally lost all my hype over the game. To be honest now Im looking for the next big thing. If the game is ever released tell me how it turned out

I know I will have the most fun I have ever had in a mmo...for the first few weeks. After that, I may notice some repetition.

Now where's my beta invite?
