Funny / interesting moments on 1:35 and 3:50 - first one, Korean player calling his teammate "dick" cause he runs away from a fight, and the next one - magic which prevents people to enter a specific area.
Also, this player looks to be a pure melee class and he's doing pretty well, great news for me (I always play melee).
Players seem to be adept at using gliders to try and run away from combat, that looks great too.
Final note - to all those who said that combat looks boring - go and play Vindictus then - ArcheAge combat looks dynamic and adrenaline-pumped. Just needs a player who knows what he's doing, like in this video.

Not going to lie - the pvp looks pretty decent. Although i'm curious, how is a single player able to survive so long against multiple opponents (when he is not running away). Does he completely outgear or outlevel them? Are the opponents bad? Is the class/spec itself overpowered or imbalanced?
The gameplay looks great. I just hope that a certain degree of balance is implemented or is the norm.

this is more like pk video but it shows melee combat style in HD
check it out
If you look at status bars you can see he is L41 and the others seem to be L29 and lower. Not really a fair fight but fun.
Holy shit... ArcheAge keeps looking better and better.
You only see what you want to see?
He kills lvl 40 while under attack from lvl 40, 30 and 29. After this fight he attacks lvl 50. Then kills lvl 46, then attacks lvl 50, then 46, then 41.. etc.
Don't comment on a video if you only watched like first 30 seconds of it.
NEW IDEAS that can refresh the STALE state of MMORPGs
Looks like he is lvl 40-41 and is fighting people level 40-50. Anyhow it looks fun
That barrier thing which blocks others from entering it is the single best PVP ability I've ever seen and I play MMOs since 1999.
It gives you the oportunity to at least kill one player when you get ambushed and ganked by a group, which is awesome.
As long as I have a shot at taking at least one ganker to death with me when I encounter an 'unfair' fight I'm happy.
Awesome.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
Unless you miss time the skill and you end up caging in all 3 of them ;p
Lol, well, that's where player skills come in but it doesn't matter realy, what maters is I have tools to potentially trap a ganker and rape him in front of his crew heh.
On the other hand, after watching the second video I'm starting to think that PVP in this game needs some serious tweaking and fine tuning.
Everybody seems to get 2-4 shoted and that's imo is not good at all, it's too much FPS-ish for my taste.
IMO, in a MMO a fight should last at least 20-30sec, killing somebody before he can react is a no no in my MMO book.
I remember AoC making a drastic change in that direction few years ago, fights were too short so they added a much larger HP pool among other things which made the fights last longer and more strategic.
I liked the changes a lot, gankers didn't.

The problem comes from crits, they do way too much damage. They already started nerfing it a bit but it's not enough. As of now, melees are the flavour of the month due to few ways to counter their CCs (compared to magic CCs) and their insane crits.
As for the barrier from Fortification, gotta love cryengine 3. Skills making use of physics makes for fun combats.
Excellent potential

Looking awesome!
Good to hear that at least devs acknowledged the issue and are working on it because all it takes is a single stuborn "I will not change my vision" high rank moron in a company to screw up an amazing game.
It's funny that melee is a FOTM though I always play melee and I'm used to being underdog heh.
All in all, I have high hopes for this game, we'll see.
